Part 88

"Wrong, two" said Armaan, as he came near pushing Ani's stroller. They stood shocked still for a moment in one corner of the campus. Then Ani's squeal on seeing his mama, distracted them. They spoke to him in baby language but his hands and legs were flying rapidly to be picked up. When Lakshmi released the stroller belt and lifted him he was all smiles, then Geeta snatched and he was being passed around like a parcel in the game 'Passing the Parcel'. And the little hero was thoroughly enjoying all the attention he was getting. He gurgled and smiled and had them all drooling over him.

Just then Priya noticed a group of boys coming out of the college building. She couldn't resist the oppurtnity to tease Rakesh. She pointed him out to Akshat and asked him to go and bring him to them. Akshat very honored to be of help to his mama's friend, ran up to Rakesh and said "uncle that aunty is calling you." pointing to the group. Rakesh couldn't see who all were there. Akshat repeated "Uncle who aunty aapko bula rahi hai". Hearing him talk in Hindi, his curiosity was kindled. So he followed Akshat.

When he got close to the group, Priya called out to him "Rakesh come see Riddhima's kids. My, they are both cho chweet!" Armaan turned towards Rakesh and said "hi". Beofre he could reply Priya thrust Ani into his hands and said he's so cute na?" Then turning towards Akshat said "This is her elder son," "Akshat," Akshat prompted.

P: and what's your brother's name.

Ak: Ani, Aniruddh.

P: Even the names are so different na?

Rakesh didn't speak a work. He was holding Ani so awkwardly that he started crying and bend towards his mama. Riddhima took him and Rakesh excused himself saying that his friends were waiting for him and scooted away from there. All the three girls were laughing at his expense. Then Armaan said "How about some icecream ladies?"

L: Actually we were going to have some coffee and were asking Riddhima to come along,

A: Fine, then coffee it is. Let's go.

He took Ani from Riddhima, put him back in his stroller and they headed towards the restaurant across the road. Akshat was a little disappointed, but seeing his face drop Armaan said "Tujhe icecream khana hai na, don't worry main tujhe khila doonga." At the restaurant Armaan ordered some snacks and coffee for all the adults and icecream Sundae for Akshat. The girls admired they way he managed Ani so expertly when the little one was hell bent on pulling all the snacks and coffee cups towards himself. Finally he managed to dip his hand in his bhai's icecream and liked it. Armaan wiped his fingers, and picking up a spoon, started feeding him a little bit of icecream. They were surprised to see that Akshat didn't protest a bit. They admired the couple and the kids as well.

Finally they all finished their coffee and Armaan paid the bill inspite of all them wanting to share.

L: You know Riddhima, you are so different from any North Indian I know. You know we Tamil brahmins are very conservative and do not get very friendly with people. Whereas I usually find North Indians hanging out together, partying and enjoying themselves. So I prefer to stay away from them. But I find you and your family so different. Your son also is so quiet and sober for his age.

G: Exactly my thoughts too. I'm glad to have such a friend like you. Dr. Mallik it was very kind of you to have treated us to the coffee,

A: Come on girls, it was my pleasure. And you should all come over to Munnar for a vacation. It's an awesome place.

R: Yes, plan a trip. We'll be more than happy to have you all over.

P: Thankyou so much. We'll surely plan something, but for now I think we should go home before uncle calls for a search squad to find me.

Armaan offered to drop them home but they firmly refused. Lakshmi and Geeta stayed in a woman's hostel close by, so it wasn't a problem for them. Priya stayed with her father's friend and his family. She called them and told them she would be a little late getting home. After bidding goodbye to all of them, the Malliks headed homewards.

Akshat was clinging to his Mama's arm and asked "aapko kaisa laga dad ko college mein suddenly dekhkar?"

R: Shaitaan, tumne ne bhi mujhe nahi bataya na? Kal isliye itna excited the na?

He started giggling hearing her scold.

Then putting her arm through Armaan's arm and leaning on it said "Lekin mujhe surprise bahut achcha laga." Armaan bent his head and touched her head with it in acknowledgement. On the other side Ani was trying wriggle out of the stroller. When Armaan bent down and said "Kya ho raha hai? Chup chaap baithe raho." He looked sadly at him and started pursing his lips. (He knew exactly how to get hid dad to pick him.) Armaan couldn't resist that look and picked him up. Both Riddhima and Akshat were looking at the pair and smiling.

R: What was Ani's reaction when he saw you both.

A: My God what a racquet he created. He was shrieking at the top of his voice, his arms flying and legs kicking in the air. He was uncontrollable. When I picked him up, he held my hair in both his fists and pulling my head down started biting and licking me. And when I threw him up in the air he didn't want me to stop. He was acting as if he had gone crazy.

Ak: aur jab dad college ke nikalne lage to itna roya. Phir athai ne usey trerrace par le jaakar chup karaaya.

A: Aur ab jab main usey stroller mein bithaya to aisey hasne laga. Usey pata chal gaya ke ghoomne jaa rahe hain. He wore his shoes without any fuss and when akka wanted to change his clothes, he did so without any fuss.

R: He's really too smart for his age.

"Aakhir beta kiska hai?" said Armaan raising his shirt color. When Riddhima stretched out her hand towards Ani, he turned to the other side and put his head on his dad's shoulder. "Theek hai do din baad, jab tumhare dad chale jayenge tab mere paas mat ana." warned Riddhima.

By then they had reached home. She sat on the sofa pulled Akshat on her lap and kissing him said "Tum mama ka raja beta ho na? Mama loves Akshu." Ani kept looking at them and then at his dad, as if thinking what should be his next strategy. Then suddenly he pounced on Akshat and started pulling him by his hair, away from his mama.

Akshat started screaming and Riddhima disentangled Ani's hands from Akshat's hair and Akshat grumbled "Kitna smart hai, mama aur dad dono tujhe hi pyaar karna chahiye kya? Mujhe bhi pyaar karenge. Main unka bada beta hoon. Woh mujse zyaada pyaar karte hai. Hai na mama?" he asked. Hugging him again Riddhima said "Of course beta."

When akka finished cooking and came out of the kitchen Riddhima narrated the incidents how they had teased Rakesh and akka was very pleased. Calling him some choiciest names in her mother tongue, she said he deserved it. Then the Mallik family proceeded to shower and have their dinner. It had been a very exciting day all the way. All of them were tired out. The two boys dropped off to sleep immediately after dinner leaving the two love-birds free to koochikoo in peace.

awww such a cute part......Ani is such a nuatanki bt yet a very very cute kid.....so happy tht Rakesh gt his desired lesson loved him being teased.......awesome part......chal one one week thn Mallik's will b like together together......continue soon n thnx for the Pm....
