Thankyou for saying that. I've been planning to ask that for a pretty long time. And as a matter of fact, I "accidentally" saw Gurti_Rocks post on the other FF which said something like "You have copied it yourself from another site from where I copied it and then you are blaming me". The next day it turns out that "the issue has been resolved" and all the posts about the plagarism have to removed. But because I read that post before it was "resolved" I googled the first sentence and this is what I found. And Tia_0810, have you actually asked for permission from the person on the other site to "resolve" the issue?

Synonyms: appropriation, infringement, piracy,counterfeiting; theft, borrowing, cribbing, passing off.

I think the way this can be avoided is if the author credits the original author of the story, with the title of the work, and maybe a link as well. By writing explicitly that it is not the author's own work, the author then clarifies that they have not plagiarised.

That's just my understanding of it..

I would also like to add, that you need to ask the original author of the story whether you can use their work, or their ideas in your story.

And it is not okay to plagiarise. My work has been plagiarised before, and it's the worst feeling a writer can feel; that their hard work is being credited, but to someone else.

Hey,

can you PM the details about how it has been solved. The content is from another site and none has given credit there or its written by own word. It may be an un- copyrighted content, but its still plagiarism of the original work.

Aahaana...I think it's only fair that the DT be transparent with the forum on how plagiarism issues are resolved given how rampant it is on this site.

the author of ..some FFs and SSs ..should be Banned because of the shameful Act she had done in the name of GURTI ..

She just copied full novel of an author Leitha Wards and just changed the name of characters ,,,,

and shamelessly accepted all our appreciation ...

It cant be called Inspired ...Its copying blank ...

Yuck and all for long most of us could not find its copy .. and the moment realised how she did all and thinking how i praised her for her works me really feeelll ..😡 ...

and still feels realy madly angry when see people continue to praise her in threads ...

i am nothing in FF writing i know ..but whatever i am trying ..i am proud of it ..

and she continued this shameful act in facebook and send pms in India forum

my request mods is to ask Gurti Rose to publically apologise for what she did ... and give credit to original author

( that poor lady put it for review in some site before publishing)

and her threads to be removed ...at the earliest ...

or .mods intrude her posts and say its copy ..so that any new reader visit understand what she did ..and any new writer never try to do ever what she did

or we will be just a bunch of women with Bs only No Brains .

i will give the original author and her book links if anybody need more clarification ..

@SuhanaSafar: Why does doing something like this just merit a temporary ban? Plagiarism is a serious offense! There have been many examples of such members coming back with a new ID and doing the exact same thing. Yes...I do know people can adopt technology to block/mask their IPs etc. but I still feel IF should adopt a strict code for plagiarism. No pussy footing around with temporary blocks etc...the member's IP should be permanently banned.
