Mayank on the other hand was not ready to see her just yet. Not after having to go through the pain of imagining his nupur with someone else all over again. He always thought about what made her cheat on him with rohit. And he had never doubted her either. But certain circumstances and nupur's dad's plans worked their way into his brain to thinking that his nupur was at fault.

He could tell she was walking towards the arrival section. He just knew whenever nupur was around. It was like an instinct which nobody could think could have existed. Yes, he had come to pick her up at the airport, nevertheless. He just didn't want her to go through all the trouble of hailing a cab… you know? No special reason for him to pick nupur up. Except the fact that he had been missing her awfully much even after everything they had been through.

Nupur saw him staring right back at her. She analyzed her ex-husband closely. He needed a shave. And he looked so worked up about something. He had eye bags. And his face stood there emotionless. No words were exchanged. No emotions were expressed. He just motioned for her to come along after taking her cart which contained the suit cases. She, too, silently followed. "wow, this is extremely awkward"- nupur thought to herself while she sat on the passenger seat and mayank drove.

"I'm going to pick sidhant up from school, if you don't mind" his first words to her since she'd arrived. He sounded so distant – thought nupur. "if you don't mind- my foot!" she thought. But she replied with a rather chirpy "of course not"! "I thought he was going to be done with school by the time I got here….."said nupur trying to make him talk. "uhh.. yeah it was his last day so they had this little party" said mayank. "oh…" was all nupur said. And that was the end of their conversation.

They reached the school and finally saw sidhant walking out with his little buddy luke. "Mom!! You're here! I missed you sooooooo much!" said sidhant hugging his mother tight. "Aww, my little baby!! I missed you too, love" said nupur holding her little boy tight.

Mayank just watched the mother-son re-unite. He could see this unexplainable smile on both their faces which made his heart beat faster. He wished he could hug them both. You know, like a normal happy family. But this wasn't the deal with him. Things were very different with their "family".

Sidhant finally looked up at his dad now. And by the look on mayank's face he knew he was lost. He knew his dad and mom were sad without each other. So what stopped them from being together- he always thought. He prayed every night that his parents got together someday. Life would be at its best with all of them together.

"Daddy Mommy, I love you" he said hugging them both. Mayank and nupur both smiled. "We love you too, champ" said mayank patting his back. "Now do you plan on staying here or finally getting out of school" said mayank pulling his nose. "Yes dad! I am so happy I'm done, atleast till the summer is over", said sidhant letting out a huge sigh. "just like your mother, happy to be done with studying—" but mayank stopped mid way realizing what he said. He glanced at nupur to see her reaction. She was smiling at him. He mentally kicked himself for talking so normally. As if they weren't divorced. As if they were still married. So quickly changing the topic he said a quick "lets go". Nupur and sidhant followed him to the car.

"Mom! You have to stay with us!" said sidhant for the umpteenth time in the car. Nupur was going to stay in a hotel like every other time she came to pick sidhant up but this time something had gotten into her little boy that he wouldn't stop insisting on staying at mayank's house. "Baby" said nupur turning back to look at where sidhant was sitting "Its only for tonight, honey. Then we'll sleep and eat and drink and stay together the whole time during the summer. Promise" said nupur trying to change his mind. "Exactly! Its only for one night. Come on mom! Dad wont eat you up if you stay with us. Promise" he said. "I doubt that" said nupur under her breath. Too bad mayank heard her but chose to ignore the comment.

"Dad! Please tell mom it'll be fun if she stays and if she doesn't I'm not talking to her" said sidhant folding his arms like a stubborn child. "Sidhant…" said nupur but was interrupted by mayank-" nupur you can stay. Really. No one minds. And it'll make my boy happy. At least you could do something for your loved ones, right? And yeah. Nobody is interested to eat you up. At least not at my house. Maybe back home your best friend must be waiting" said mayank pulling up at the driveway. Nupur clearly understood what he meant by that statement. Oh god! When will mayank get the truth through his head?

As soon as he stopped the car sidhant ran out after seeing his best bud back from his grandma's house.

"Fine I'll stay" said nupur watching sidhant run. "And for the record mayank, I can do anything for my loved ones. Even if they decide to hurt me one fine day" said nupur getting out of the car. "Hurt you?" said mayank getting out of the car and slamming the door shut and letting out a sarcastic laugh. "Don't even talk about getting hurt. Try being in my position to know what actually getting hurt is!" said mayank yelling so loud that it scared the crap out of her. "Yes mayank it was all my fault! Happy? Now please" she said her voice cracking, she got her bags out of the trunk.

Mayank you weren't supposed to do this! Don't bring up the old things. Its going to cause a lot of trouble. Deep breath in, breathe out. Yes, better. Now act normal. Just try and act normal. He said to himself, walking up to nupur.

"Here let me help you" said mayank trying to take the suit case from her. "no thanks! I can do this without your help" said nupur roughly. "Listen, I didn't mean to bring all that up. Forget what I said. Just let me carry this, its heavy" said mayank trying his best to stay calm. "Look mayank. I don't know how you say this in your world but in mine 'no thanks' means 'NO'! ok? " said nupur walking away. Mayank cursed under his breath and followed her.

"Mom, you're the bestest mom in the whole wide world!" said sidhant hugging his mother as they sat on the couch watching cartoons and eating cookie dough ice cream. Their favorite. Nupur just loved this ice cream. If you get loving certain things hereditary then this was definitely from nupur to sidhant. Mayank watched them sit together and watch tom and jerry eating their favorite ice cream. He remembered how when nupur was pregnant with sidhant, she used to pester him at the weirdest times for the most unpredictable thing.

He suddenly remembered one of those times— (flashback)

"You're getting big" said mayank hugging his wife as she stood in front of the mirror checking her stomach out. "Wow, mayank! Aren't you the sweetest husband to be saying that!" said nupur. "Well, it's a compliment as far as I know for a pregnant woman" said mayank kissing her full on the mouth. "compliment, my left foot"! said nupur getting out of his arms. "You don't love me anymore! Because I'm fat and ugly!" she said all of a sudden. Out of the blue.

Mood swings. Mayank quickly reminded himself. He loved her so much. She was too cute. So he walked up to her taking her by the waist and making her sit on the bed. "whoever told you that your fat and ugly must have lost their mind. Your beautiful, my love. And I love you and always will. Nothing is going to stop me from that." He said. "And as far as this little bump here on you stomach goes", he said caressing it "get used to it. There are many, many more to come" he said naughtily. "hawww, its not going to happen mayank!" she said as he kissed her once again. "hmm… I'll convince you later" he said taking her in his arms as they lay on the bed.

"Now its sleepy time. So rest, my wife" he said holding her close after turning off the side lamps. "Mayank, what do you think the gender is of our baby"? she said as mayank and her hands intertwined over her stomach. "hmm… I actually want it to be a surprise. Whatever God wills. Now go to sleep, honey", he said closing his eyes. "You don't like talking to me anymore. Do you?" she said. Mayank let out a sigh. She became so sad all of a sudden these days for no reason. He knew she just wanted to be reassured. It was just the mood swings. And boy, did she get a lot of mood swings these days.

So he got up with his face right on top of her. He cupped her face with one hand and with the other he caressed her hair. "You think so?" he said kissing her nose. "I don't think so, I know so!" she said moving his hand away from her cheek.

Mayank still smiled although he knew she was acting a bit cranky right now. But he had to do something to change her mood now….
