CHAPTER-5
FLASHBACK
A year had passed by since the day Angad joined the school….They were all now in 12th standard and there summer classes have already started for there 12th board preparations………Both Prithvi and Angad were protective of Kripa……and enjoyed a unique friendship together……..Though Kripa and Prithvi were a lot closer as they were together from last 6 years……….Angad some times felt angry, as Kripa would turn to Prithvi more than she did to him…….He would not like it that they were more close to each other ……He wanted Kripa to come to him to solve his problems……..He some times spoke a little rudely….due to his anger, but asked for forgiveness the next instant………So Kripa and Prithvi just ignored it…….All three tagged along every where they went…….May it be to the mess, or to the church , or library……or to the foot ball ground…..They always kept laughing, joking and having a nice time together…….Kripa had kept her promise…..She had never cried again….after promising Prithvi………
Angad liked Kripa a lot…..Se was cool….He liked to talk to her, help her….She was always positive and told him to trust God and his grand pa will be fine and he will go home soon….He loved her words of encouragement….Slowly his feelings developed towards her……He began to feel jealous of Prithvi and Kripa's relationship….He thought of taking Kripa with him to Delhi..…..and he used to think about marrying her some day……He would blush with his own thoughts…..He had a major crush on her...….She would occasionally hold his hands and pull him up and demand he come with her…..He happily obeyed her …..He enjoyed following her and would do any thing for her….Kripa enjoyed his company too and bossing him around.…….
Angad called his grand pa regularly and even called his Grand pa's friend Shrivastav regularly………His grand pa was improving a lot ….He was walking around …for some time and talking a little……..recognizing things…….he also recognized Angad when he went for 2 days vacation to Delhi…..to visit him…….Angad was happy about that……He talked to Kripa about it and she kept encouraging him………He concentrated on his studies properly……..He had topped the class last year and he wanted to top the board this year and get admission in best college……..He was a excellent student and had very high ambition……
Prithvi and Kripa were average students and they just had one ambition to have some one to love and take care of them……..as there back ground had made them thirsty for love…..They were good in studies…….But not as good as Angad………
Angad helped them some times…..Angad used to spend most of his time in the library studying ……One day…kripa came and sat with him…and asked him to teach some accountancy principals…….Kripa was getting more and more irritated by the subject……She was planning to change her field next year though………Angad happily started teaching her…..Explaining her every step in detail..….They studied for almost 3 hours……...Both were tired…..So they took there books and went down to sit in the garden….They sat there with their legs wide spread below the tree…
K: Thanks Angad………..I don't know what I would have done without u…….
A: You are welcome Kripa ….but you would have done well for ur self……..he said with a smile…..
K: Angad u never told us about ur parents…….
A: I don't know who or where my dad is….But my mom left me with her parents…..Her name is Avantika Agarwal….She was 18 when she had me…….And then after leaving me, my grand parents lost contact with her…….They tried to search her……….but at last after 10 years they came to know that she was dead…….Kripa felt sorry for him…..Kripa told him about her mom and dad……..and her dad's second marriage everything and how she hated him……….Both talked about there life ……..Angad shared his dreams with her and how he want to have business of his own one day and earn millions and so on…….Then Kripa asked him some thing he had himself wondered many times……..
K: How come your name is Angad Khanna ? If your mom's name is Avantika Agarwal……..
Angad shrugged his shoulders…….
A: That is what my mom named me in my birth certificate………..
K: Oh……..I suppose may be ur dad's last name might be Khanna right……..
A: Ya may be…….I am not sure……………
Kripa had seen his eyes wet that day when he talked to her about his grand ma……..She could not take her daughters demise and her health had started detoriating………And she had passed away within a year or two…….after that……..Kripa had hugged him…..and let him cry silently for his grand ma…….She had given him courage…… She had talked to him more often after knowing how broken he was…..And how much weight he was pulling at this young age…….with his elderly grand parents……..
Some how, Angad did not feel threatened after that day nor did he get angry…….Kripa's soft nature and listening to him….had made it all better….He liked her and her attention a lot and he got what he wanted..…Kripa with him.….and they had nice year all together……Whole year through Angad helped Kripa and some times even Prithvi…….But Angad had become more Kripa's friend than Prithvi……..Prithvi did not mind sharing Kripa'S friendship and just enjoyed their company in general……He wasn't as possessive as Angad ……But was protective of her…..….Though prithvi and kripa continued the tradition for asking gifts on each others birth day………
Angad's grand pa was now back on his feet and Angad was going back to Delhi…They all had given there board exams and everyone was going home….….Mr. Shrivatsav was here to pick him up……..His grand pa was at home now……..Before going Prithvi and Angad had hugged each other and promised to be in touch………Kripa was sad though…..She did not know any thing about her future……She was sitting alone below the same tree….. where she and angad had sat for countless hours talking….. She thought of Angad…..she would miss his friendship…….Angad found her there sitting quietly…..plucking grass and cutting it in to 2……..with her nails…..He slowly sat besides her….
A: Kripa….I am going…..Will u write me letters…….I hope u won't forget me…..
Kripa looked at him and nodded sadly…….She hugged him…..tearfully………Angad and Prithvi's friendship had made her feel less lonely this past year………Though Prithvi played a major role……she had come to rely of Angad too many a times….and she was going to miss him……
K: Will we meet ever?
A: Why not…….I promise I will come back after I finish my college and take u with me…….he said as if it was most natural thing to say………
K: Why would u want to take me? She asked frowning…..
A: So we can be together……..I am goanna miss you very much and wish I could take u with me…for ever and ever…….…..he said as a matter of fact….
K: What if I am married, by the time you come back……She asked innocently…..…How can I come with u then…..
A: I hope you don't……..But then how can u marry with out me………? He said smiling……..Kripa looked at him confused…..
A: You are mine…….I will marry u and you will be my bride and no one else…he said with a easy arrogant smile….….Kripa looked at him wide eyed…..she had never thought about this before……..But apparently he had thought about it……He liked her a lot……Had a big crush on her…….which she had apparently never noticed……..neither did she ever notice how handsome he was…….For her he was a good friend just like Prithvi…..But for him she was more than a friend…….She was his first love……...and like any other teenager he wished to make her his bride, one day…….Then he did one thing no one else did to her……..He kissed her on her lips tightly and then ran away………yelling to wait for him and he would definitely come one day………And she had waited for him…….Not for 1, 2, 3 but 4 full years……dreaming about him…….Thinking about how he would look when they would meet…….what will they tell each other…and on and on………..And then he came…….He came back looking for her and found her teaching in the same school, back then as she was in now……Prithvi and Tanya had already married by then…..and Kripa lived with them too…..as they forced her to…..Prithvi, Tanya and Kripa had graduated from same college in Nainital….It had turned out that her father had arranged a house and nanny for Kripa…..Prithvi also stayed with her…..after lots of request to father D'Souza……
They had taken different streams in college though……..Kripa hated commerce field, she had taken the field only so she could stay with prithvi in the school……….But now she was comfortable enough and changed her field and went in to arts taking English and History as her main subjects and Prithvi had taken Accountancy as his subject……..They had gone to the same college when he had met Tanya and they got married after graduating……..Prithvi had taken up job in a bank and Tanya was working in a small firm as a secretary…….Kripa started teaching in the school……..They created their own little world there………and were happy……..Kripa had moved out of her dad's home…….once she got the job…….as she hated any thing which was his !!!……….Now that she was major……..he could not make her do things his way……….But she had never dated or looked at any one else………Unconsciously she still waited for him……
FLASHBACK ENDS…..….AND BACK TO PRESENT……….
Friends will come and friends will go,
The seasons change and it will show,
I will age and so will you,
But our friendship stays, strong and true.
A hand on her shoulder woke her up….Kripa stirred from her nap and looked at Nishant…..
N: I am taking the kids with me to our place….he whispered…..Lock the door…..I will keep them today….Dadi told you to come to our house for dinner…..We will wait for u….come when you are ready…..…Kripa nodded…..She got up and went with him and locked the door after they all went away….She went back to bed and slept……..She was tired………
After 3 full hour of blissful sleep, Kripa got up……and found Krish stirring a little…….She touched his hairs……..slowly and looked at his wound……The swelling was a little gone….But his forehead was looking more bluish…….She sighed……..She remembered the time when Sur had fallen, when she was 2…….Her teeth's cut the lower lips and she had gotten stitches…..That day was so bad for her too…..Krish was jut 6 months only and Sur wasn't getting down …….and Krish would cry for milk and Prateek would freak out….For 2 days it was just a mad house……..Krish slowly opened his eyes and looked at Kripa…….He smiled slowly….Kripa smiled back…..gently…
K: How is my sweet little boy…….
Krish….touched his wound a little and winced…..It's hurting mama…..
K: Oh my love….It will get better soon…….she said kissing his cheeks lightly…….
Krish : I want to play with sur and prateek….
K: Ok…are u feeling fine….If yes, then I will take u to Nishant chachu's house…..
Krish: yeah mommy I am fine….Nishant chachu told me that I am a brave boy and I should not cry for small injection……I did not cry…….
K: Yes dear….Indeed you are the bravest boy of this world….she said smiling….hugging him…….once more and then picking him up….She carefully took out his shirt and gave him a hot bath…….then after applying some cream put fresh clothes on……She brushed his hairs as well as hers and picked him up, locked the door and went to Nishant's house……
Prateek and Sur were delighted to see Krish………..They ran to him…….and looked at his bandage….
K: Sur Prateek be careful and don't touch the wound…It will pain…and I don't want u all running around…..Sit at one place and play…….Understood ?….all 3 nodded and went to sit in the hall…….Kripa kept looking at the kids………Krish was proudly showing his wound and telling what happened and how he got hurt and how brave he was…..and on and on………And Sur and Prateek were pampering him with toys, giving him book and which ever colors he wanted……..She smiled at them……….
N: Thank God you are here……..Sur was getting anxious to see Krish…..Nishant said…….making kripa know about his presence………..She smiled at him……..
K: I am sorry……….Krish got up just now and so did I……..Thanks for taking us to hospital and taking care of kids….
N: You don't have to thank us Kripa….I love them too…..And its good you got some rest…….You look less strained…….I was beginning to worry about u………..from last few days u looked too tired………
K: Yeah…….I suppose the exams……..assignments………kids………all is taking its toll……..
N: You take care of ur health first…….Nothing is more important than that……Just remember these kids are dependent on you……..So your top priority is your own health……..
K: Yeah…..you are right…..she said……..
N: Dadi is waiting for u in the kitchen……….
Kripa nodded and went inside to help dadi…….They finished cooking pretty soon and had there dinner…Kripa came back home with kids….….She then gave Krish his medicine and then made him sleep……..in her bed….once he was asleep she then went to Sur and Prateek and prepared them for bed…Told them story….and made them sleep…….Once asleep she came back to her room and laid down besides Krish……..But sleep did not come……
She switched on the radio…….........besides her bed and sat…against the pillow………….

She hugged the pillow tightly……….and thought about the times when she and Angad were happy together……….in a married bliss………..She stayed awake thinking about last time she met Angad after 4 years in the same school just like today……But the circumstances were different…..Last time he came, it was for confessing his love and making her his bride……..and this time he came after 5 years It was for divorcing her and going away from her forever …..A single tear escaped her eye………
FLASHBACK – Almost 6 years back….Now…
It had been nearly 4 years since the high school……….when Angad and Kripa had parted….
Kripa was reading a story in her 3rd class English Subject…..…..She was so involved in her story that she did not hear the door opening ……..Suddenly a hand came around her eyes and the children giggled………Kripa was confused…….She knew no one who would do such a thing……..Guess who? The voice whispered….and Kripa did not have to guess……….She remembered his voice as clearly as she had just heard him yesterday……..
K: Angad…..she whispered…..slowly….not really believing that he was here….
Angad immediately removed hands from her eyes surprised………that she remembered him still and recognized him so quickly….
K: If u think u are the only one who can give surprises then you are wrong mister…..she said smiling and looking at him for the first time in nearly 4 years…….and the person before her today took her breathe away………He was so handsome that she just kept on staring………till she heard children giggle………Kripa came out of her dream……..Angad can u go now….meet me after half an hour…….I will be done then……..she told him….looking at Angad and then at him…Angad's eyebrows rose……..
A: No way…..I come all the way to meet you from Delhi and you tell me to go away…….Not fair……
Kripa looked at him angrily……….
A: Ok….ok…How about I sit behind and listen to the story too……..
K: That's fine…..as long as u keep ur mouth shut…….She said with both her hands on her hips…. A book in one hand though…….Angad grinned at the image………
A: You look just like teacher…..A very sexy English teacher…….he whispered in her ears before walking to the back and sitting on one of the small chairs………
Kripa blushed looking at him……..and he winked at her…..Kripa looked down and then started reading the story…….She tried to avoid looking at him…….But she could not stop her self….and looked up……..Angad blinked a eye and she frowned at him………He looked wonderful sitting on the small chair next to 8 year olds……..A smile escaped her ……….and she bit her lip……..
Soon enough the story was finished and thankfully the bell rang and the school was over for the day…………..As soon as everyone was out……..Angad closed the door and went and hugged Kripa……….tightly………..And then lifted her circling her round and round making her laugh……….
K: Angad…..let me down…..what are u doing? And when did u come…..? This is just a surprise…..
A: I told u I will come…….But tell me soon……….that u are not married………
K: I am not…….she said looking down….gathering her things……….And this is not ur house…….this is my class room…….You just can't come in here and close the doors…..and……..
A: And……….he said winking and Kripa blushed and bit her lips.……She turned around to wipe the black board…..Any way leave….that he said hastily……..Good to know u are not married…...Then will u marry me?
Kripa turned around wide eyed……….
K: What did u say?
A: I did not say any thing……….I asked………I asked…….he said coming near her……..and whispering in her ear………Will u marry me?
K: Angad are u out of your mind? Are u feeling fine? She asked putting a hand on his forehead………
A: I am fine…….But what happened to you……Did u forget, I told you that I will come and take u with me……..And u are going to marry me?
K: I thought you were joking……..and it was 4 years back…..You did not even bother to answer my single letter……..she said angrily……….picking her purse she walked to the door……….Angad stopped her from opening it…….He held her tightly……..in place near the door and turned her around…….
A: Did u find some one else?
K: What if I have………….she asked looking at him stubbornly……..
A: Then I will kill him…….he said looking in her eyes……..Kripa's eyes grew big……..
K: Now I know you are insane……….She said pushing him away and opening the door…….and walking out……..She was angry at him….because in this 4 years he had not even bothered to send her a single letter……..Not even a card …..And he was being arrogant pig head now……showing his possessiveness and all…...She walked out of the school…….and Angad followed………Once outside…….Angad held her arm and pulled her to the parking area……..
K: Leave me….she said angrily…….
A: Never…….You are going to be my bride…..
K: I did not tell yes for the marriage………..she said frowning at him…..
A: So…..You will……..When I give u this…..He said taking out flowers from the back seat……..
Kripa took the flowers made a face and then walked to passenger's seat and sat down……..
K: Not good enough…….she said…….looking at the beautiful flowers……..
A: How about this………….He said giving her chocolates……..
K: Na………
A: Teddy? He asked giving her one
K: No……no and no…..she said………turning around and looking outside…….
A: Then how about this……..he said showing her a ring……..Kripa looked at the ring and her eyes widened……….
K: You were so sure I would tell u yes?
A: Yup……..
K: Then I tell u no………she said angrily……How dare he take her for granted….After all these years without any contact……….Angad frowned………
He then put the car in gear and zoomed off…….Kripa got frightened……..
A: Yes or No…..he asked sweetly, looking at her
K: Are u insane……..Stop the car……..Are u trying to kill us both……..she screamed……..
A: Yes or No…….
K: Angad ……stop the car…..Angad only raised the speed…….more…..
A: Yes or No……..
K: No way…….You are really mad….I am not going to marry u…….she screamed…….But her heart was beating wildly due to fear………Angad kept on going…..making sharp turns speedily……….
K: Yes yes yes……..Now stop the car………..she screamed out loud, closing her eyes fearfully….. and immediately Angad stopped the car and Kripa put her head down and sighed in relief……You are really mad……she whispered……taking deep breathe……..
A: Yeah…….Madly in love with u………he said…….smiling mischievously……..Kripa looked at him…….surprised……….
K: We have not even met for 4 years……..
A: So……..
K: How can u be in love with me………..?
A: I was in love with u since the day we met………he said coming near her………and looking directly in her eyes….Then he took her hand in his……..and slipped the ring in her hand……..
K: Angad………..
A: You already said yes………..He said grinning……..
Kripa looked down blushing………He was too handsome, too charming, too sure of himself and too arrogant……..That was too much too……….she thought frowning………..
A: Can I kiss my fiance now…….he asked, but did not wait for her answer ………he just captured her lips with his………I love u he said after their lips parted……..Do u love me?
Kripa just looked down shyly and he hugged her……….Suddenly they heard loud noises behind them……Angad looked back and saw 2-3 cars………waiting for them to get out of way…….He cursed them and quickly started the car….winked at Kripa and drove away……..He took her to near by garden restaurant ……They slowly walked in…….Angad held her hand in his………tightly…..not letting it go……..
