Forgive the delay.I had my exhibiton over today on children's day 🥺
Deodhar introduced the new guy and left giving the same rehearsed speech which he had given for Gunjan. Gunjan giggled a little at this but it still couldn't erase the doubt she had seeing HIM in the office.
"Mayank".
Gunjan exclaimed after mayank had sat down on his own desk.She had felt an adrenaline rush through her body as he saw Mayank on the ramp where benji had been the day before yesterdays yesterday's night. The day with the fateful fire. She shuddered.
Unknown fears gripped her As Mayank stood up to answer her question . Was it because Something happened to MOM? Did she tell him to come here? Does it mean he had told her in the first case?. 'No he wouldn't'. She had planned not to tell her mom as she knew mom would get upset by this and even rush to goa straight from Hyderabad but why was she skeptical about Mayank then? . He would understand surely.
"Arey Gunjan",Mayank's voice creeped into her thoughts. "I was worried for you…. behena",he added the behena teasingly'.
Gunjan gently beat him at this.
Mayank grinned and continued,"toh maine parse hi mere previous reporter ke office Hyderabad se yahan transfer karke us bank se resignation deke yahan aa gaya .Approval bhi ho gaya.aakhir itne sare qualifications jo the.Nahi toh normally nahi hota.Do din lage par ab thik he.Kyunki tum to apne bhaiya ko janti ho na.thanta he to karke chodta he".
Gunjan was shocked as to he had come for such a trival matter but then it made her think of the love and affection he carried for her. If The whole world was on the other side,he would still side for her.She was in a turmoil of feelings to have such a caring brother.
True,she had never seen her father die as she was just 2.But being elder,Mayank had seen it all and maybe he had understood the pain of their father.
Gunjan hugged him.It was true..Hugging a brother was like nothing else. Thinking that You have someone to guard over like an guardian angel.
She broke the hug and said "thanks for being always there for me Mayank.".
A guy walked up to them and informed mayank and Nupur that they had been called to the office of deodhar and shukla and they better go IMMEDIATELY.
They look at each other surprised but they didn't have s much time to do that as they had been called.
Mayank was full of worries as it was his first day,No,First day in a new office.He was worried about the compatibility of his to-be partner,whoever he/she was.Most probably..He had been called for that.
He gave a sideways glance to Nupur who was walking as cheerfully as possible..Like it was her own father sitting in the office.
Nupur knocks on the door and they both go in through the door hearing Deodhar's 'Come in'.
Both walk up to deodhar's table.Shukla sir hadn't been in the office that day to Nupur's relief.Shukla was seen once in a Blue moon in the office and everyone was grateful for that.
"Hello sir,Good morning",They both say.
"Sir,We have been told that you had called us immediately",Mayank continued.
Deodhar turned and faced them,"Yes,Yes.Please have a seat.".
He continued, "So,as we know..Miss.Nupur here has no partner and because of your exemplary performance earlier,you are allowed in.Mister mayank..So I have decided that you two would be partners".
Both looked at each other shocked.
Mayank was like "OMG !! What?" . He didn't want to get stuck up with 'miss bak-bak' But then felt happy at the same time. Nupur was So shocked that she thought that no news would shock here more.But she didn't know the other impending news as well.
"And yes,before you both go" ,Deodhar continued. "Due to a Mr.Mayank's file which he has to sign himself on the spot in Hyderabad,He has to go there."
Mayank nodded.
"And again If Mr.mayank has to go there,We Should make the best of this opportunity. The Office would sponsor the plane and You,Mr.mayank along with miss Nupur has to go to the Reporter's conference coincidentally being held tomorrow for a duration of 8 days."
Mayank looked shocked..but not as half as Nupur. Nupur was thinking first he had to bear mister Sadu as her partner ad then go to Hyderabad with him? IMPOSSIBLE. Someone as well hang her. She wanted to protest but seeing the stern mood of deodhar decided not to.The mood was probably decided by the fact that the office (Him) had to pay for two costly tickets on their behalf,she mused.
Mayank knew that he would be called for that secret paper.But so fast and with Nupur too? He would have to be careful. Deodhar possibly couldn't have been told about it.
"Yes and in the conference..you both as a team would be given some site of Hyderabad to explore and report any newsworthy activities of that place. Best reporting would be given a aboost in their reputation as well as a medal. Remember –Even if nothing is happening in that place..You should search for news and present it in such a way that all become stunned. As it is not the news which finds the reporter,It's the reporter who would have to go for it"
"Yes sir",they both said in unison
"You may go Now.Dont forget to be ready at the airport tomorrow at 2.40 P.m",with this deodhar continued
"Thank you,sir.yes sir"
Coming Out, Some moments of silence occupied the space between them.Mayank was thinking of a grave matter and a tussle along with a debate going on between his mind and another force he didn't know yet whether to trust Nupur enough to tell her. Unfortunately,The Mind won the tussle with a argument that he had met her only some days ago and people were not like they looked.He had learned that the hard way.
Nupur resumed her chatter in a fewseconds after this tussle had finished thankfully, "Main soch nahi sakti mujhe tumhare saath partner aur kal jaana hoga? Mein to us file lene nahi jaungi pakka cause mujhe Hyderabad ghoomna he..hotel dekhna hai aur Conference mein register karenge.Agar fun hua to karenge .Nahi hua to nahi,got it?"
Mayank laughed at this. He ahd never seen such an impatient girl but the idea of her NOT coming with him to get the file was a relief and so he made no action to protest.
Nupur so happily walked on.
"What?? Mayank,let me get this right.. You are going Nupur ke saath,tumhaari partner to hyderbad to attend a conference and pick up a file?",Gunjan exclaimed.
"Dude,Kya who sahi keh rahi he?",Samrat asked skeptical about all that.
Mayank nodded.Nupur came back and sat down.She had gone towards the end of the hearing to drink water.
"Wah !! wah Kya zamana he.. ladka ladki ek saath hotel mein.. Ghoomne",benji joked.
Mayank glared at him which made him shut up immediately. Nupur too glared at him.
"Double attack.bache ko bachalo",Benji said and hid behind the person next to him,who unfortunately was Uday.
Uday grinned and giving a warrior type look said "Fikar not benji ! Mera naam he Uday aur mera kaam he benji ko bachana"
"Tujhse bachane ko poochna matlab ke khai mein jump lagana"Benji said.
"Wow !! Yahan khai he? Maine kabhi nahi dekha !! Chal na K mere saath chalega dekhne?"
"Shut up dodo",Dia ended with her favourite line.
All of them laughed
"Well,Mayank and Nupur when are you both going?",Purab asked
"Hai ramm.Is bondhu ne tumhe nahi kaha?? Kal 3 baje."Nupur exclaimed
"3 nahi 2.40 baje",Mayank stated annoyed
"haan wohi",Nupur brushed it off with a wave of hand
"Tumhare paas kam samaye he.Aaj ka kaam khatam karke mein Mayank ki aur samrat Nupur ki packing mein help karenge ,thik he samrat?",Gunjan said
"Nahiinnn !! Ek afternoon drama queen ke saath 😆",Samrat said jokingly only to receive a smack on his shoulder."Thik he",he said rubbing his shoulder.
At home:
"Chal ! I'm tired with that bit of reporting but it's ok now.let's start.",Gunjan told Mayank"
They picked up a suitcase which they had brought friom Hyderabad,their home. Gunjan's eyes teared seeing Their fathers initials on it but was not noticed by the busy Mayank taking out things.
They managed to put everything needed and it was all ready.
But things weren't so hot In the other apartment.-

"Samrat ,Mujhe yeh dress leni he !! Wapas karo",Nupur said chasing samrat.
"NAHIN doonga",He said running around the flat.
'Samrat,Tumne yeh book kyun nikal li?? Mein padhna chahti thi yeh Novel",She said huffing tired with the chase.
"Kyunki ab mein padh raha hoon"
"Samraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat"
"Hoof it's finished..What? It's not locking.",Nupur said blowing a hair form her face.
"I'll help you",Samrat says"
He came and sat on it ,unlocked it,gave pressure and sat down and then tried locking it..but it fell open again,"You do",He gave up/.
"I knew it..You wont help me",She said in frustration.
Finally everything was done.
Nupur flopped down the bed and Samrat flopped in the adjacent bed.

Gunjan , On the bed was unable to sleep as she thought that Mayank was also going away from her.She had never been away from Mayank for 8 days.True,he was away on reporter's duties but she still saw him in maximum once 3 days till that day. She hoped she wouldn't break down.
Samrat was thinking that he may be lonely without his partner but soon brushed it off,thinking it to be a bahana from god to get away from miss bak-bak.
Nupur was excited about hyderabad.She would see and see and leave everything to Sadu if it was not interesting.
Mayank was the most worried Still deciding if he had done right or wrong but he couldn't decide as a unknown fear had gripped him,causing him to worry.
Next day-
Deodhar gave The 4 of them half-day as they had to go.
At The airport Gunjan and Mayank Hug while Nupur and samrat do the same.they had come in One car So as to not take different cars.
Gunjan said her eyes starting to brim with tears,"Main tumhe miss karungi"
Mayank says brushing off her tears "na Gunjan..Samrat tum meri sister ka khayal rakhna"
Samrat says "Ji" while winking at Gunjan
'Mayank Jaldi chalo..mujhe andar samosa khanna hai",Nupur rants off.
"Nupur andar kitne paise hote he pata he?",Mayank says.
"Kuch nahi,mujhe khana he to khana he..bye Samrat and gunjan",Nupur says as she drags Mayank to show tickets as she waves bye.
"Nupur is incorrigible,isn't she",Samrat said joking while driving the car.
Finding no answer, "Oops !! who tumhari dost he na? Sorry"
She didn't say anything.Samrat became worried,stopped the car in a place and gently made her face him.She was crying.
"Gunjan? I'm sorry.Mein mazzak kar raha tha",Samrat says trying his best to comfort her.
He was sure taken by surprise when Gunjan just cried on and then suddenly hugged samrat.
He felt a flow of emotions gush through him at the same time.The hug was intense,a worried hug.She was crying.Her tears fell on his shirt soaking it and making it stick to him.He felt something.A worried Gunjan? She looked happy to him fairly.It was like asking him so many questions he couldn't decipher.He gently stroked her hair to assure her that she was safe.
Gunjan was sad leaving Mayank.Everyone she loved was taken away fom her.her grandparents, her father , And now maybe Mayank will be?. She feared because anyone who was very dear were snatched away from her leaving her in a sad lonely world of her alone.
When Samrat joked,She wanted to laugh but couldn't bring herself to it.When he asked,the words just couldn't come out of her mouth.And he turning her head was the last straw.
She didn't know what to do. And hugged him letting out all her emotions at once. But when Samrat stroked her hair,she snuggled even closer finding security in his arms.She was caught up in the moment.
Samrat Knew it wasn't the time to get carried away and if he did she would never trust him again.he broke out of the hug And cathching Gunjan by her shoulder brushed away her tears.
"Kya hua Gunjan?",He asked worried.
"Meri life aisi kyun he?",She said sobbing again and gasping for air. "Meina isi kyun hu? Sab mere se door kyun chale jate he? Mere grandparents ko mujhe dekhne ka mauka bhi nahi mila, Mere papa Jo mere liye itne cheezo ke khwaab rakhe the wo bhi chale gaye..mayank bhi?",
Before she could continue Samrat kept his hand on her lips , "Shhh..Kuch nahi wo sirf din ke liye gaya he.. Kuch nahi hoga use.chint mat karo . Mein tumhare flat mein aa raha hoon. Couch pe so lunga par agar tum dar gayi too atleast sahara de paunga"
Gunjan said still sobbing, "iski koi jarurat…"
Samrat said , "Chup raho mein aaunga"
Gunjan nodded Knowing he will not listen to her.he brushed away her tears again.
He started driving but his mind was somewhere else. If she had so many worries so many problems and so many thing,his problems were Smallfries before her's. He was just being still childish.Yes,he would tell his parents the next time they come that was next month.But what was this strange feeling he was getting for Gunjan?
He drives to the building.
Mayank and Nupur at the airport.
Samrat phoned and informed them about the change and Mayank was fine about it.
Nupur finished eating and they both board plane
