haa sweety it really worked,now i would often send a spcl quad
for searching u if ur not upd regularly....back 2 ur up...mayur was
really awesome..i made my journey with their cute conversation..
i am just imagining them....i could feel nupur pain...neha that was lovely portrayal...
mayu giving his sholders...am going crazy now....plz next upd soon...

Chapter 16

"He wants to marry you?!Marry you?!"Nupur's voice seemed to be gaining volume as she stared at her little sister.

Gunjan met her gaze almost squarely.Nupur had returned home few minutes ago.She had barely been able to change when their mother had dragged her to the living room asking her to knock some sense into Gunjan.

"Yes!Such an amazing proposal and your sister says that she wont accept it.As if that is indeed a question..who in their right senses would refuse to marry Mr.Mehra's only son..."Devika said scowling rather fiercely.

"I dont want to marry him and if that means I am not in my right senses..."Gunjan began folding her arms.

"You dare to speak to me like that now-you ungrateful little girl-I have spend my entire life running around,working hard to ensure that my daughters would get a proper lifestyle.And this-this is what I get in return?!My daughter speaking like I mean nothing to her..."

"Ma..I dont think Gunjan means anything like that."Nupur began but Devika put up a hand.

"I have ruined my life for you two...I have always seen to your happiness but I guess I dont have the right to ask anything from you at all...Maybe I should have been selfish-maybe I should have realised my worth-I am nothing to you two..."

Nupur went up to her mother and hugged her.

"You know that is not true Ma.We love you..Gunjan really loves you alot too."

Devika patted Nupur on the shoulder.

"Tell her..make her understand that she can improve everyone's life by just saying yes..."

Gunjan stood up.
"Ma...please try to understand..."

"No !I dont want to say anything to you.I am never going to say anything to you ever if you be stubborn and ruin the only chance of happiness I have.."she sniffed loudly and walked to her room.

Gunjan sank down on the sofa,feeling weary from the day's crimes.How had the world come down to this?How had her life become so complicated.?

All the answers burned down to one name.

SAMRAT MEHRA!!

She felt tears trailing down her cheeks.She felt NUpur pull her into a hug.She clutched her sister breathing in the smell of her hair.

"Di..Am I being stubborn?"she asked.

Nupur shook her head.
"No Gunjan!Marriage is a very important decision .You should take it vety carefully."

Gunjan nodded.

"Why dont you want to marry him?"Nupur asked after a while.

"Di.."

"No I am just asking."

Gunjan pondered the question.What was wrong with Samrat?She knew there were many things wrong with Samrat when spelled like that her thoughts couldnt process a single flaw.

"He..he...is very candid in life."she finally said.

"Candid?"

"Yes!He takes everything too easily..."

"Maybe because he gets everything too easily.It isnt his fault that he was born with a golden spoon in his mouth."Nupur said gently.

Gunjan shook her head but she didnt answer.

"He seems to have some commitment issues,"Gunjan continued.

Nupur seemed to be fighting a smile.

"He wants to marry you..."

Gunjan nodded.Then shook her head.Angry tears welled up in her eyes yet again.

"I dont know Di...I dont know...."

"Hush..Its okay!I know exactly what to do.."Nupur said.

Chapter 16

Part 2

Samrat's POV

I sat in the restuarant almost sweating out enough for a year.I had come this restuarant about seven million times.It was chic and expensive and my favourite hang out place.

Yet I had never felt so very nervous in my life as I did now waiting for Gunjan's sister to appear.Her phone call had been quite early in the morning.I had scrambled from the bed to pick it up when she announced.

I am Gunjan's elder sister.I need to speak to you.

What did she want to ask me?Would this a full-fledged interview?Abandoning caution I drained another glass of lemon juice .It was then someone tapped me in my shoulder.

"The waiter says you are Samrat Mehra,"a voice said.

I stood up.
"Yes thats right!And you are...."

There was a pause as we both stared at each other.I knew this girl.She was Diya's childhood friend.

"Nupur..."

"Samrat!You are the same samrat!!By god this is indeed a small world."

I stared at her and then laughed as something clicked in place.
"She used your name..."

"Excuse me..."

"Chashmish..I mean Gunjan.."I said feeling shy for some unknown reason.
"She used your name when she first met me at Diya's party."

Nupur smile increased as she took in my shyness and then she shrugged.
"Did she?She didnt want to find out that she worked with you."

I nodded.
"Why did not she want me to find out?"

Nupur smiled.
"Can I sit down?"

Mentally cursing myself,I blabbed out.
"I am sorry ..I should have asked you to sit down ...I am just so nervous.I am out of practice...I havent sat for an exam since I left school."

Nupur burst out laughing.
"This is not an exam Samrat."'

"It is!It is the biggest exam with the most important consequences of my life..."I said,feeling like an utter moron the moment the words were out.

Nupur stared at her napkin for a while and then her eyes intently searched my face.

"Why do you want to marry my sister?You dont even know Gunjan.."

"I know Chashmish enough to know that she is the most beautiful human being possible.I dont want her to belong to anyone else...I am being really selfish in here."I said feeling utterly vexed at the red heat creeping down my throat.

Nupur nodded.
"Why are you blushing?"

I grinned impishly.
"I dont know.Its really annoying you know..."

"What is?"

"This curious hold your sister has over me.I mean..I was fine before I met her.Happy-go-lucky and having a blast and then I saw her...and everything changed.In a moment she had become so important to me that my life seemed to have no meaning without her."

"Are you saying you love her?"came an inquiry.

The thought threw my mind into turmoil.

"Love...I dont know what that is...I certainly didnt believe in love at first sight...I mean how can you love someone by looking at her only one time.But...I cant deny the fact that that night something changed...something made Gunjan the focal point of my life."

I looked up to see Nupur staring at me.I coloured again.

"I am not a loser ..I am really not!I dont know what is wrong with me..."

Nupur flashed him a brilliant smile.
"Can I be honest Samrat?"

I nodded,my apprehension grew.

"When I heard my sister's boss wants to marry I wanted to knock some sense into him.I mean what kind of a man wants to marry a girl he barely knows..."

"The kind who cant live without her..."

"Hmmn..I seem to like the kind actually once I met him."

She smiled again and I felt elated.

"Oh!That means I passed the exam..."

"Results are yet to come out Samrat!"she said."Now are we going to order?"
