Part 16

Locker Room

All interns were now in the locker room.. Adi was observing Karan nd Radhika.. Karan was trying to make a conversation while Radhika was avoiding it.. when suddenly Radhika got irritated coz of karan, jai noticed this change in her expressions nd shouted yet again.. "Chipkali..chipkali.." for once Radhika jumped but then looking at Jai laughing she also ran into fits of laughter remembering the same incidence in lonavla..

Adi: hey.. we're feeling left out here.. yeh tum dono pagalon ki tarah kyun has rahe ho..?

J: vo Adi yar.. lonavla mein..

"All Interns report at nurse station to Dr. Ridhhima"

Rad: chalo break men bataenge Adi..

They left for the nurse station.. there Ridhhima was standing with Tina.. just as all of them reached there Karan stopped dead in his tracks..

Adi looked at him nd then at Ridhhima.. he knew something was wrong.. but WHAT..? was the question.. he dragged Karan to the line of interns.. Tina had a shameless smile on her face looking at Karan..

Interns: gud morning mam..

" gud morning interns.. firstly aapki duties register mein likhi hain.. secondly Dr. Aditya nd Dr. Karan.. (abit strictly as he was still lost) DR. KARAN…" Ridhhima was now angry.. Looking at Angry Ridhhima Adi shook Karan vigourously but the damage has been done.. Ridhhima seemed very Angry looking at Karan.. he first distracted Radhika nd now he was acting irresponsible..

"Dr.Karan.. maine pehle bhi kaha hai aapse mujhe aapki personal life mein koi interest nahi hai.. aur aapki professional life mein koi bhi irresponsibility main tolerate nahi karungi.. samjhe aap.." she said in an angry tone..

"Sorry mam.." he said sounding low.. Ridhhima was disgusted now "kitna easy hai na aapke liye sorry word use karna.." even after all that he did to Radhika Ridhhima never felt disgusted but today for once Ridhhima felt disgusted of Karan.. he was irresponsible nd carefree.. Ridhhima was angry coz looking at Radhika nd Karan's condition she could just relate herself nd Armaan when they had a fight coz of Armaan going to Patiala.. instead of understanding the gravity of the situation he was just saying Sorry..

She continued to repremand him in same tone while other just kept quiet.. "lekin iss sorry ka koi matlab nahi hoga agar aapki vajah se kisi patient jaan chali jaaye.." Tina also witnessed all that happened just now nd as she was new nd a nobody to Mallik family she didn't knew about Karan nd Radhika.. She was surprised to see Ridhhima angry again.. "kitna attitude hai ismein.. my god..!..what does she think of herself.. how I wish Ammy yahan aakar isse insult kare aur chup karade for insulting an intern so fiercely.." Tina thought.. nd to her delieght Armaan was passing by nd he saw Ridhhima VERY ANGRY nd bursting at Karan.. He shot a look at Radhika who was looking confused so he knew that it was nothing about Radhika nd at once went to pacify Ridhhima.. As he came closer Tina became happy BUT instead of being angry at Ridhhma, he came to her nd asked her to calm down..

"Ridhhima.. kya hua..?.. why are you so angry..?" Armaan asked in confused tone.. nd Tina's hand turned into fists.. "kya dikhta hai mere Ammy ko ismein.. kyun vo isse kabhi kuch nahi kehta.. yahan tak ke jab maine usse bataya ke his wife was rude to me, instead he asked me to stay away from her rather than shouting at her..WHY..?.."

Karan thought since Tina is here his bad days have started again.. he curse her under breath.. as it is he was fighting but now it was a battle for sure.. listening to Ridhhima even Armaan will be angry nd punish him too he thought.. but to his surprises Armaan instead of being angry tried to calm down Ridhhima..

Both Tina nd Karan came back to world when Ridhhima continued in her Sarcastic tone "Armaan I think humein yahan ke interns ko ek professionalism workshop ke liye recommend karna padega.. especially Dr.KaranShergill.. inhone apni galtiyon ke liye ek bohot convinient solution dhunda hai.. a magical word SORRY.."

Armaan held her hand tightly hiding it from her saree he whispered "calm down jaan.. you're a senior here.." then to interns "aap sab ki duties yahan likhi hain.. get back to work.. nd by the way that's the new intern Dr. Tina.."

He quickly introduced Tina to the rest nd saying so he took Ridhhima to his cabin.. she followed him like a baby.. as they reached in..

"what is it jaan.. why were you so angry..?" concern was clearly heard in his voice.. Ridhhima thought if she tells him that Karan's carefree behaviour nd irresponsibility reminds him of what Armaan was long time back then it would hurt him so she tried to hide it.. "kuch nahi armaan.. bas vo Karan kaafi time se responsiblly behave nahi kar raha thha aur aaj bhi uska dhyaan briefing mein nahin thha to mujhe gussa agaya.. as it is he has not done less damages to Radhika's life nd now he is testing my patience.." she said all that not meeting his eyes..

Armaan settled her in the chair taking hold of her shoulders he himself got on his knees in front of her nd said earnestly "you think I'm a fool.. I can even hear your silence Jaan.. don't you think I know you abit too much to take that lie from you.." Ridhhima knew it.. she kicked herself mentally to make him say those lines.. Why does she even try when she knows that she can't lie to him.. Armaan saw her lost expressions nd decided to drop the topic.. "okk fine.. abhi nahi batana.. matt batao.. lekin please SMILE..agar tum aise hi gussa rahogi to main dhang se kaam bhi nahi kar paunga.. yehi sochta rahunga ki kahin tum phir kisi bechare ko daant to nahi rahi.." listening to his loving yet naughty tone Ridhhima smiled inspite of herself.. "I Love You Armaan.." she hugged him forgetting that anyone else existed..

While At the nurse station..

As soon as AR left Tina smiled shamelessly at Karan.. first Jai came forward to greet her then Adi nd finally Radhika also muttered a hello.. just as everyone waited for her to say something she moved a step closer to Karan.. putting a hand on his shoulder "Dr. Karan Shergill.. or I should say my darling KS..?.." by the time all others were confused nd Karan was getting furious, he jerked her hand off his shoulder nd pointed his finger at her.. "Don't you dare Tina Kapoor.. Ab agar meri life mein problems create ki to I promise iss baar main chup nahi rahunga.. mark my words.. nd yeah its ONLY DR. SHERGILL for you.. you understand.." Karan stomped to his ward while Adi somewhat knew what happened just now.. but he still wanted to confirm..

As karan left.. "how rude can someone get.. pehli baar koi kisi collegue se aise milte hain..?" Jai retorted only to get a quick reply by Adi "don't judge him Jai.. vo humara dost hai.. aur Tina ek nayi intern.. tu isse kitna jaanta hai.. Sorry Tina but I make frnds by my choice nd you are yet to come in that list.." he left for his duty leaving shocked Radhika behind.. "yeh Adi ko kya hua.. why is he supporting Karan so much..?" thinking she also left for her duty considering Ridhhima in a bad mood today none of them wanted a spanking..

After a while Radhika nd Tina in OPD.. they were checking patients one by one.. Tina was checking a baby who was crying continuously.. she got frustrated nd asked the attendant "kya yeh kabhi chup nahi hota..?" Radhika heard frustration in her tone nd asked the attendant to get the baby to her.. Tina felt strange but refrained herself from speaking as she didn't really wanted to check the baby.. She was confused as Radhika got surprised looking at the baby.. she quickly calmed him down putting him to her shoulder nd called the nurse "nurse.. plz ask Dr. Karan to come here.. its urgent.." Tina was confuesd.. Radhika then to the attendant with the baby "isse kabse bukhaar hai..?" "ji bas abhi kuch der pehle yeh rone laga.. jab dekha to bohot bukhaar thha.. kalse thoda zukhaam thha to sahab ne dava de di thhi.." he replied as he was asked to.. Radhika nodded nd checked the baby's temperature "main abhi jo dava de rahi hoon vo isse har 6 ghante baad dete rahiyega.. kal tak iska bukhaar utar jayega.." she gave him one doze nd patted him..

"tum ek patient se itna attach kyun ho rahi ho.. vaise bhi yeh kitna chota aur irritating sa lag raha hai.. (then slowly to herself) just like that lil devil at Ammy's place.." but to her bad luck Radhika heard her.. she immideately spoke "don't you dare utter a word againt Ridhaan.. chote bache tabhi rote hain jab unhe koi problem ho.. nd right now this baby's problem was at first his fever nd then his heartless doctor.." as she finished she saw Karan entering the ward.. he saw Tina nd Radhika.. in a cold tone "kya problem hai.. jaldi bolo.. main duty chodke aaya hoon.." Tina very rudely replied "to na aate.. koi ehsaan nahi kiya.." to avoid any argument right now Radhika cut tina nd talked to Karan in a calm tone "tina will you just shut up for a moment nd keep your focus on checking other patients.. (to Karan handling him the baby).. Karan.. Rohan ko high fever hai.. kal jo tumne cold ki dava di thhi shayad it didn't effect him much.." yes the baby was Rohan, Karan's son.. he was now panicing "lekin yeh yahan kaise.. kaka ne mujhe kyun nahi bataya..?" still calm Radhika said "Karan calm down please.. humare phones locker mein hote hain.. nd don't worry maine abhi ek Nimulid ki doze di hai.. har 6 ghante mein deni hai.. he'll be fine till a day after for sure.." he was really surprised here was Radika standing in front of him who loved him nd she is even so tender with his son nd on the contrary was Tina Kapoor who is supposedly Rohan's so-called-mother.. "Thanks Ravs.. I mean Radhika.. tumne itna sab hone ke baad bhi mere bete ki.." cut in between by surprised Tina "Yeh.. yeh tumhara beta.. I mean.. huma.." before she could complete enraged Karan stopped her "Haan yeh MERA beta hai.." Radhika didn't wanna indulge in any more confusion so she cleared out "Karan maine jo bhi kiya vo koi bhi doctor karta.. besides he was calm in my arms coz I guess he recognised me when we played in the park that day.." as she said that all the memories of the morning at the park came flooding back to her.. to avoid that awkwardness Karan added with a smile "Yeah.. I guess.. kids have a gr8 intution of knowing gud or bad people.. that's why rohan loves you too.." Radhika was shocked hearing that.. what did he meant by Rohan loves you TOO.. does that means he loves me nd Rohan loves me too.. Tina interrupted her thought express by saying "Radhika I'll be back in a minute.."

Tina followed Karan to the fire escape where he sat with Rohan half asleep in his arms.. he didn't notice when Tina entered nd he remained unaware of the fact untill she spoke "That's our baby isn't it..?.. I never expected you to still keep him so close to you after all that happened in between us.." Karan was now boiling with Anger thinking why does she think she has the authority to ask ME why am I taking care of MY son so much.. but looking at Rohan asleep he calmly told her "Well.. firstly that not OUR but ONLY MY son.. nd secondly you don't have any right to be near him Legally nd Emotionally.. so it would be better if you stay away from MY son.." Tina was flustered at Karan's reaction.. What the hell.. he is insulting me now.. I think he has forgotten what Tina Kapoor is.. she thought nd replied very arrogantly "I think you've forgotten the REAL me KS.. nd to remind you.. I can take away YOUR son from you whenever I want on legal basis.." listening to her words Karan's jaw hardened.. nd to Tina's luck Adi was there at the door listening to them too as he had come to talk to Karan when nurse told him about Rohan.. Adi quickly rushed to Karan as Karan stepped towards Tina.. It seemed as if he'll smash her face right there.. looking at Adi, Karan handed over sleeping Rohan to him nd pinned Tina to the wall taking hold of her neck.. "Tum ab mera kuch nahi bigaad sakti Tina Kapoor.. ab tum chahe kuch bhi karlo tum mujhe Rohan se alag nahi kar sakti.. (he smirked at her sweating face nd continued) main tum jaisi ladkiyon ka achhe se jaanta hoon.. pata nahi kab tum phir vapas aajao meri zindagi mein.. yehi sochkar maine apne divorce papers mein Rohan ki custody ka clause bhi dalvaya thha.. aur agar ab tumne mere bete ki taraf ek bhi kadam badhaya to bina kuch soche main tumhe JAAN SE MAAR DUNGA.. samjhi.."

Caf

"Karan.. calm down yaar.. she has done all the damages she could do to ur life.. but now you have to make her payback for your son.. for yourself nd for Radhika.." Adi said

"I know Adi.. lekin agar usne Ravs ko kuch kaha to..?.." karan was tensed..

"to main hoon na.. I'll tell her the truth.. tu chinta kyun kar raha hai..?.. ab ek kaam kar half day le aur rohan ko lekar ghar ja.." again in tensed tone Karan said "Yaar tujhe lagta hai ki subah ke itne gusse ke baad Ridhhima mam ya Armaan sir mujhe off denge..?.." thinking abit "Well.. Armaan sir ka to pata nahi lekin agar Ridhhima mam ko pata ho ki tera itna chota beta beemar hai to vo tujhe off dengi.. pakka.." Adi knew Ridhhima's love for kids.. nd having her own lil baby being ill last week he knew Ridhhima will help Karan.. Adi's support gave a ray of hope in Karan's eyes, how he wished to take Rohan out of Tina's reach nd spend some time of calmness..

Ridhhima's Cabin

She was busy studying the case of her patient wen she heard a knock at the door "Come in.." she said without looking at the door.. Karan came in nd waited for her acknowledgement not getting any he started on his own "Excuse me mam.." he said in a hesitant tone.. recognising the voice Ridhhima looked up at him.. he had a small baby in his arms who was half asleep she sensed.. "yes Dr.Karan.. is that baby a patient..?.." she asked coming directly to the point.. the kid was really cute nd chubby.. his nose nd cheeks were red due to cold.. she instantly had a smile looking at the kid.. gathering the courage Karan said "Mam.. actually this is Rohan.." before he could finish Ridhhima cut him "Nd I think he has cold.. his nose nd cheeks are red.." astonished Karan "Yes mam.. actually I wanted half day today.. coz that's my son nd he has high fever too.."

Ridhhima's smile vanished that instant.. she looked at Karan nd realised that he wasn't lost rather he was worried right now for his son.. who was indeed a cute baby.. even before Ridhhima could say anything Karan insisted "mam.. I'm really sorry for what happened this morning.. plz mam Rohan needs me.. I promise to work extra when he gets well.." seeing him getting hyper Ridhhima said "relax Dr.Karan.. I know how it feels.. but where is his mother.. why is it that only you are worried about him nd his mother is not even in sight..?" she couldn't stop herself from asking this.. Karan sighed nd replied in a low voice "Mam its only me for Rohan.. his mother left him with me when he was just 3 days old.." Ridhhima was shocked beyond witts.. "what..?.. then why did you..? I mean why.. Radhika.." was all she could mutter.. he certainly understood what she wanted to ask.. "mam.. Rohan is the biggest truth of my life nd I don't think any girl can ever stand this untill she is his mother.. (sacastically he added) even his mother didn't loved her own baby.. she is a bloody cheater..(he thought nd then continued) then why should Radhika's happy life be dragged into nd joined to mine nd Rohan's.."

Ridhhima tried to calm herself down.. she was surely surprised to know how cruel can someone be to leave her 3 day old baby alone nd how wrong was she in judging Karan..She felt her anger rising at Rohan's mother.. she wanted to know it all but just then Rohan started crying.. "Dr. Karan we surely need to talk about this but right now you can leave nd do inform Dr.Aditya that even he has a half day today..both of you will report after lunch tomorrow.."

Sighing he thanked Ridhhima with a small smile nd left to inform Adi..

Emergency Room

"Mam the patient needs stronger medicines.. these doses aren't effecting her much.." Radhika said to Ridhhima who was attending the patient with Radhika assisting her.. "I need the patients medicine chart nd the her attending doctor here now.." Ridhhima commanded.. "Mam.. Dr.Karan was attending the patient nd Dr.Adi was helping him but both of them have gone in the half day.. If you want I'll just call Dr. Aditya.." "no its fine.. inhe aaj raat ko high doses do aur agar koi improvement na ho then get back to me agar aise hi raha ti we'll have to operate her.. kal jab Dr.Shergill report kareinge to aap yeh case unhe brief karengi Dr.Radhika.." As ridhhima completed Radhika wanted to say something but for some reason chose to stay quiet..

Late Evening at home

"Bhai, Tina is such a pile on.. jahan dekho zabardasti aajati hai.." Radhika complained as she remenbered the incident while returning home from Sanjeevni.. Tina asked Armaan to wait for her as she was new there.. after she was there she saw Ridhhima nd Radhika approaching the car she quickly mounted the passenger seat besides Armaan.. even before Ridhhima could react or say something Armaan in a very irritated voice asked Tina to get off Ridhhima's place.. Ridhhima nd Radhika were happy nd Tina was cursing Ridhhima under her breath.. pulling Radhika out of thoughts armaan said "Don't worry Radhika.. Kal mera aur Ridhhima ka off hai.. to hum jakar uske liye koi accomodation arrange kar aayenge.." he said smiling at Radhika but his main aim was to inform this to Ridhhima who was sitting with Ridhaan at a couch nearby.. she smiled at Armaan's this gesture nd shook her head slightly..

After the dinner everyone went to their rooms.. in AR's room Armaan was putting Ridhaan to sleep by telling him some story so that he can Romance with Ridhhima when she comes.. In the mean while Ridhhima wanted to talk to Radhika about Karan.. she entered only to find Radhika engrossed in a patient's file.. looking at Ridhhima she wanted to say something but she was abit hesitant.. Ridhhima read her face "Kya hua Radhika.. kuch kehna hai..?" "Umm..vo.. kal shayad.. Karan hospital na aaye.. so can I brief this case to Adi..?.." Ridhhima narrowed her eyes.. "nd why will that be..?.. maine unn dono ko lunch ke baad report karne ko kaha hai.." "vo.. bhabhi.. actually Karan's son is unwell..usse high fever thha jab karan ka servant Rohan ko Sanjeevni lekar aaya thha.." Radhika said in a low voice.. while Ridhhima was confused "tumhe kaise pata yeh sab..?"

"because I was the doctor in OPD today.. nd I checked his son.." Radhika said bowing her head.. Ridhhima sat besides her while Radhika streched herself putting her head in Ridhhima's lap.. Ridhhima lightly comforted her.. "tumhe ab bhi uski itni fikr hai..?.."

Radhika was now calm.. she has learned to cope up with this truth.. "Haan bhabhi.. kya hua agar uski zindagi mein koi aur hai to.. mere liye vo special hai bhabhi.. maine koshish ki lekin na main usse bhula paati hoon nahi usse nafrat kar paati hoon.. to kyun na sab kuch normal rahe.. I know he'll be there whenever I'll need a friend.. to jab tak nibhaya jaye main yeh rishta nibhana chahti hoon.. main nahi chahti ki meri vajah se Karan aur uski wife mein koi problems ho.. nd my concern for Rohan was purely as a friend.. sachi bhabhi.. I've learned to accept the truth.. apne liye nahi to apno ke liye khush rehna chahti hoon.."

Ridhhima was really happy listening to Radhika.. surely her voice was cracking abit but she was way too calm than she was when she came to know about Rohan for the first time.. Ridhhima then decided to drop Karan's topic till she comes across the complete truth about Karan so she says "Hmm.. to humari Radhika itni badi badi baatein karne lagi hai kyun..?.. but honestly bohot achha laga tujhe samhalte hue dekha to.. main yahi chahti hoon ki tu khush rahe sirf humein dikhane ke liye nahi balki apne dil se.. " smiled nd sat up "Haan bhabhi.. Jai ne bhi kaha thha.. aur yeh sab ussi ke vajah se hai.. usne hi mujhe realise karvaya ki mujhe aise dekhkar Aap pe, bhai pe aur baaki sab pe kya beeti hogi.. he is a really good friend.." "Achha chal ab so ja.. kal Karan na aaya to Adi se case discuss karna okk.. gudnite.. " Ridhhima for left her room nd Radhika sat there thinking of Karan.. She saw the time it was 10pm.. she gave it another thought nd instead of dialing Karan's no. she sent him a text message enquiring about Rohan's health.. Karan on the other side felt touched..

"Thanx for the concern.. Rohan is better now.. sleeping.. you really made me feel better right now with just a small SMS of urs.. thanx Ravs.. I hope I can call you that now coz I feel we're getting friends again.. are we..?"

Radhika gave a small sad smile reading it suddenly something struck her mind nd she replied "Yes.. I'm trying to be friends with you Karan.. I hope I didn't disturb you or your wife doesn't mind me messaging you so late.. sorry.."

Karan sighed reading the message.. for once he felt like telling her the truth but then he stopped himself nd replied "Don't be sorry Ravs.. my wife has to be here to mind our messaging.. its time for Rohan dose.. okk gudnite now.. "

Radhika was surprised reading the message.. nd there were several question globing around in her mind.. why was Rohan's mother not there..? why did the servant bring Rohan to the hospital nd not his mother..? where is she..?

Just as all these thoughts were going around in Radhika's mind, Tina was pacing in her room.. she was angry.. "what the hell.. Ammy preferred that behenji Ridhhima's company to mine.. how rude was he to ask me to get off front seat.. nd that Karan.. I'll ruin ur life once again Karan Shergill nd this time you'll have a partner, Dr. Ridhhima Armaan Mallik.. I'll show her what Tina Kapoor is.."
