"Great!" he smiled as he looked over at her smiling face.
"Yeah! Armaan I am so happy for you! They accepted!" he looked over at BA as she smiled at him…feeling the pit of his stomach churn...
Riddhima Gupta was like his friend since Year 4 …he remember they where both captains in chestnut house… but they where in different classes.. Riddhima was in Mrs Parkers class and he was in Mr Devons class. As captains they had to meet up with the other captains during playtime and think up ways to motivate there teams… that where it all began.. in Junior school…. Then Armaan left as he completed year 6 as his father got a job in Glasgow… He left everyone including his grandparents as his father and mother left for Glasgow… He remember is Ba crying as she waved them goodbye… Glasgow was a 4 hour drive from Leicester and he looked over at everyone waving good bye… With his Scottish accent he landed back in Leicester to head to University. Now he was a University fresher and doin what student did best enjoying life…. As he remember BA waiting up for him as he creped into the house…. Everything changed as he met Riddhima …totally! As they were paired in a History class and he recognised the name and then he looked at her…She was the most beautiful creature i ever laid his eyes upon… and she was not like the other girls who walk out the house with no make up …and on the train/bus apply makeup secretive she was like so simple and he noticed that about her…. One day he walked into the library and saw her crying as he approached ….Unsure what to say i looked over at her as she looked at me. Her eyes where dipped and she was dressed in a pink diesel top and jeans… as he nervous saw everyone looking at her he sat next to her.. "Riddhima you ok?" he whispered moving closer to her …as his senses where hit with that Dior fragrance
"I can never do what Papa wants….I can never be a doctor like di!" he chuckled as she looked over at him wipping his tears.
"SHHHH!" he turned and suppressed his lips as his whole body shook holding in his laughter.
"Armaan?" she whispered taking hold of a tissue from her bag.
"Aye lass your in university to discover who you are and what you want to inspire to be…your family will be happy in what ever career you choose…" he whispered in the thickest Scottish accent as she just looked over at him.
"You don't know my father…"
"Aye girl I do! Dr Gupta lassie….Hes my Ba doctor…Your mother works in the practice to…hence those beautiful green eyes you have…" Armaan looked at her as she lowered her head blushing.
"Your Dad puts up with my Ba moaning ….and I flirt with your mom when I pick up a prescription for Ba…" she smiled and he looked at her.
"You live with your Ba?" he nodded and grin.
"Old battle axe …has no one since Pops passed away….my grandfather …we all called him Pops….Dad stuck in Glasgie and mum asked me to move back in and I thought I study here too…Thou I got into Oxford and decided I come here…"
Initially after that meeting we kept meeting the day i gave her my mobile number…
"Ok think of a girls name?" he looked at her puzzled looking at her mobile
"Why?" he asked
"Dad and mum check the mobile phone and bill….since they pay so like I cant put Armaan in the mobile as contact!" she said looking at him…as they walked to the bus stop…as she looked over at him laughing his head off.
"Riddhima you so funny!"
"Armaan? I need a name!"
"Pick what ever….your mobile!" he looked over at her she was like so innocent and honest….
"Ok let me think… Armaan means what?" she asked looking at him as they climbed down the stairs.
"Desire!"
"Cool I add desire! If they as I say you're s Scottish girl …and your folks are like hippies.." he looked at her and laugh loudly at they stopped at the bus stand..
"OMG lassie you're a riot…Ok call my mobile I add u…" she looked at him as his phone beeped…
"Ok I added you as Desire too…" he said looking at her as she looked puzzled
"OH Ba?" he laugh loudly again
"No that way I know it you calling…and I should talk like a hippy puff…and be camp and Gay!!" he looked at her giggling.
"You think im stupid!" he looked over at her as she looked serious and shook his head.
"Actually sweetheart! I think you the most genuine person I meet here so far…thou we now each other from Juniors but we were like kids there….Friends honey!" he said looking at her as the bus arrived.
I don't know what attracted her towards me may be it was she was innocent and her totally honest…. and the university life past use by …. many thought we where dating but I wanted to but when the question was asked she like smile….We just friends! And it was true the friendship bond was great ….we hung out during free period and we went out in a group of friends… This changed when Nikita told me she want to go out with me… Riddhima acted weird totally…. Blanking me in class and not taking my calls… and when Nikita joined the group she just fall silent or just leave… I never understood it and back off myself and enjoyed Nikita company….thou my head was in that relation my heart was not…. Nikita lasted 5 months…I broke it off with that break up dinner… I think we should see other people line… It not u it me! Those familiar dumping lines…. And Nikita was upset and we parted. I noticed Riddhima nature changed again…she was even more distance and as I stood waiting for the bus she appeared and head her books.
"Hi Riddhima …"
"Hi!" she was still distant
"Have I offended you?…or upset you?" I thought I just ask her straight this was my final year in Uni and I was goin to ask her straight… as the tears rolled down her face I looked at her.
"What happened?"
"You're a jerk! How could you go out with Nikita?" huh like why she cryin and all.
"She asked me out so like we dated…nothing special!"
"You slept with her!" huh what?
"NO!"
"She told everyone Armaan got a good tongue and a devil in bed!" OK like wow im a sex god without sleeping with Nikita…ok we French kissed and im good at it!!
"Riddhima did Nikita tell you this?" ok now im smiling and she like pissed
"Yeah …she told everyone that she dumped you!" HUH OK fine by me my rep will stay in tack …Nikita will be like call things under the sun.
"Hmmm….and why you crying I don't see your name mentioned!" she frowned and took out a tissue ….Women like I don't get it!! Like it about me right Nikita spreading lies and hey im a sex addict in the whole campus and she like crying? WHY?
"Because!" great her bus arrived.
"Riddhima! I don't want to talk to you Armaan….don't talk to me!" OK FINE!! Like I care…. Thing is I did! I missed like our chats and coffee together.
We all graduated and I was honoured ….can you believe…mum and dad came down for my graduation and Ba was crying…. She like 5ft tall and a tough old bird. Riddhima graduated and her parents attended… that was it as soon as Ba spotted Dr Gupta she was off like a shot and I went to get her back before she complain about her sugar levels…
"Sorry Dr Gupta!" the man did not look happy and it was not BA… and as I looked over at Riddhima she too looked upset…. They wanted her to be a doctor and she wanted to teach…and was going to do her teaching degree next year.
"Wow Riddhima congratulations!" I had to congratulate her thou she like hates my guts unsure why?
"DR Gupta …Mrs Gupta you must be proud ….Just think Riddhima will be teaching the children who will be doctors, lawyers and even prime minister of this country…we need good people like herself in this world… As you care for your patients…Riddhima will be moulding children to help this world…" the doctor looked over at me and smiled…. Why do parents do that? They have dreams for there kids right….but did it occur to them they kids to have dreams? And Parent should support and love unconditional without a condition attached? I was lucky my parents where different…Dad and Mum where like Armaan you can be what ever you want but that is something you want …remember to be the best at everything and that means the best Son too…
"So Son what you pass in!"
"Law! Doc …" I don't know I attend the class and enjoyed it…and then I ditched the other class and started study this and kept History as that was Riddhima and my class thou she like dreamed of going to Egypt and Japan…as we learnt of the Empire…British Empire was impressive…I was glued to how many nations the British ruled…and the history...
"Wow son impressive!" hmm Dr Gupta not so bad
"Yes doctor…my Armaan is doing great….Now I have to find him a wife!" BA and her timing was priceless as I looked over at Riddhima unsure why my eyes just meet with hers…
"BA?" I moaned as Dr Gupta looked over at me as I looked at Riddhima….Ba noticed heck she knew she seen the picture on my mobile when she called me…as it displayed her picture and Ba gave me a funny look…
"What Armaan? I get this haq to marry you to a decent girl….I don't trust you or Janvi!" I chuckled before she embarrassed me any more…
"Dr I meet you in the surgery…." OH great!!
"Sure Mrs Malik…" I had to get her out of here..
"BA we got a table booked…at SHAH place…"
"Wow we heading that way too…" OMG! Riddhima does not look pleased ….she please and I think this is goin to be a long afternoon…
OK BA will not eat Chinese, Pizza or fast food only Indian and I booked this place since mum and dad will like in town…

OK like now what is happening here? Was there like another plot somewhere? I looked over at Riddhima as we got seated together and my parents and her parents are like talking like old friends and Ba looking happy?
"Riddhima? Like do you know what happening here?" ok like I ask her and she like might know
"Your Ba asked for my Rishta like 6 months ago…you know right!" OMG then it hit me why she was like so cold and all…I was dating Nikita and she like thought I knew and….SHIT! was all I could think of as she shifted her seat away from me.

"Armaan my parents want this to happen and I cant disappoint them again!" HUH WHAT? No like way…

I just remember her face as she told me the great news …..they accepted the Rishta and mum and dad where like happy about the whole thing…

So like now im sitting at the airport as I told Ba I have to go to New York for work…truth is I'm going to see like Rahul my cousin and then look for a job and then like stay there….But I cant! Lifting up his bag he headed for the door…
