Chapter 2.
The next morning, Riddhima woke up and walked to her bathroom (thats connected to her room). She showered and put on her favorite pair of blue jeans, and a nice teal/blue shirt that has flowers on the shoulder and a square blouse cut with white sleeves. She fixed her hair. She had a bowl of Rice Crispies with a bannana in it. And then made breakfast for Raj and Anjali. She knocked on their doors "Hey guys breakfast is ready, Raj your spinach omlet, juice and toast are on the right hand side of the table like always. And Anjali your fav. oatmeal and cranberry juice on the left like always. Call me if you need anything i'm going out with Riya and Kripa today."
Raj heard that and opened his door. "oh gosh those dorks, how can you hang out with them? Oh wait you are a dork too."
Riddhima ignored his comments and headed to the kitchen again. She made herself a nice turkey sandwich grabed a water bottle and stuck her sandwhich in the fridge and her water bottle in the freezer.
She went upstairs to her room and picked up her phone from ther dressing table and called Kripa and Riya to see how close they were. She called Riya knowing Kripa was driving and that they would be together. She called and Riya picked up "Yes Riddhu we are on the way we are one block away, you want us to pick you up or are you gonna walk today?"
Riddhima smiled " I think i wanna walk today. Meet me at the start of the trail." She hung up ad picked up her purse smiling and thinking how lucky she was to have friends who knew and undertstood her so well. She put her sandwich and water bottle in her bag. Then she smiled and looked in the pantry and picked out a snack and put it in her bag. She walked out the door. And walked down the street looking at the tree she and her neighbor had planted a few years back. It was beautiful. She took a left and kept walking and there she saw Riya and Kripa standing there waiting for her.
They greeted eachother hugged and continued walking and went down a hill and got off the trail and crossed the railroad tracks to their favorite hidden beach. They sat on the top f this hill at the beach.
Riddhima, Riya and Kripa sat up and started talking about the old days. And how they use to have time to come here just about every weekend.
"Well how is Karan...and Arman?" Said Kripa. Riddhima turned pink and then red replying "They are fine, i guess" Riya turned and analyzed her face. "Yup, you still like him."
Riddhima turned and said, "maybe, i don't know. To be honest he's gonna be the guy who'll be a problem in any relationship i ever have in the future. hehe. When i get married i'm gonna have to tell my husband about my 1st and last crush... Arman." She thought of something that happend last night and statred laughing. "Hahah..OMG you guys know what happend last night?"
Kripa "Well since you didn't tell us yet, no." Riya-"Well, are you gonna tell us too, so we can laugh to."
"Well" said Riddhima. " What happened was, Karan's mom Arman's aunt saw me working in the kitchen and told me later on, when i was done serving and cleaning up, that i'm a wonderful girl and that she prays i get a good rishta and the best in life. She said that and started walking away, ans my mom who was standing next to me wispers in my ear to apna beta hi deh de na. I was shocked and like mom what are you saying! What if she heard that? My mom didn't seem to care. She is like well he's really sweet, nice, caring, family oriented and gets along with all your family, he's a successful 26 year old engineer. What else do you want....I can't believe my mom tried to set me up with him...haha"
Kripa and Riya turned around and looked at Riddhima. "NO WAY!" said Kripa. "I will have to tell your mom to think about his cousin since you wont ever speak up."
"I know man! What are you thinking, you tell your mom everything, but you can't tell her that for the past 10-12 years you have had a crush on the same guy?" Said Riya.
"You guys you know i want them to choose themselves, you know they knwo me well and will only find me the best."
"But Arman is good too!" said Kripa.
"Yea. He is also sweet, caring, family oriented, well off owns his own bussiness and all. So why not him? Oh i know its his mom huh?" said Riya.
"Yes. It is his mom and i've told you that before, she's not the kinda mother in law i want. I mean she's nice but she's not cultural, if Karan's mom was Arman's mom then i would be so happy, and it would work. Man his eyes are so...! But anyways i don't wanna talk about this anymore. Next topic. So you tel me Riya, how is Rohit?" Said Riddhima.
"Ugh he's fine!" said Riya. "My mom thinks its time for us to get enggaged"
"Hey I think thats a great idea! Time for me to get my party outfits ready huh?" said Kripa.
"Yes and to get our dances choreographed" said Riddhima. "I always knew you would be the first bali ka bakkra..hehe..or bakkri in your case.=)"
"Ha ha real funny guys! You know i'm not ready for this kinda commitment yet." Said Riya.
"But why?" said Kripa
"Because, what if he changes, and cheats on me or leaves me! Leaves me all alone like my dad did!" Said Riya with her eyes starting to get moist.
"Love, its okay." Said Riddhima hugging Riya as Kripa put one of her arms around them. "You know why he left. He left cause he didn't want you to see him dying! I knwo you don't believe that, but we all know the truth, you're the only one who's not willing to believe it. He left you a few letters, and you didn't wanna believe them. He was a great father. We knew him. He loved you, you were his baby and he always wished for you to be happy and wanted the best for you, and still does." said Riddhima.
"Yea, dude. He loved you and will always love you no matter where he is. He's probably up there loking at you and feels horrible. But his cancer and diabetes took over and he was dying and didn't wanna leave you with a bad memory of him, but i'm sure he wishes he was there til the last day after seeing you like this." Said Kripa.
"I know guys, i know he just wanted the best for me, but i feel bad! Its my fault that he though that i was so weak that i would not be able to help him through his tough times. I hate myself for not being able to stop him." said Riya. "I think its time to give Rohit the answer he's been waiting for, for the past 3 years." said Riya while wiping her tears.
"YAY!!! we are so happy that you have come to realize what hapened last year." said Riddhima.
"I think its good that you understand now" Said Kripa.
The 3 of them look at the shore and observe the waves as they eat their luches. Riddhima pulls out some K Bars, and smiles. Kripa takes out some sour patch kids and smiles, and then Riya takes out some trail mix. All three of them start laughing. They have had the same habbit for years. They finish up their food and head back up to the trail. They sitin Kripa's car, the love of her life (or one of them).
"So how's your love doing?" Riddhima asked as she sat in the car, "well look at her, and tell me?" responded Kripa.
"You know thats not what i was reffering to." said Riddhima as Riya smirked in the back. Riya knew she was talking about Angad.
Right then Riddhima recieved a text message...it was from Angad. "Man i am so sorry. BUt i need your help again. Kripa is mad at me again! I guess you can award me for worst best friend of the year."
Riddhima replied. "Thanks atleast now i know why she is avoiding talking about you. What happened?" She texted back and forwarded the message to Riya.
Riya looked into the mirror at Riddhima.
Riya started talking to Kripa to make sure she didn't know they knew something was up. But Kripa is smart and knows how close Riya and Riddhima are to Angad, Kripa's BEST GUY Friend, and her true love, which Kripa didn't realize just yet. Angad and Kripa thought of eachother as close fiends, but everyone who knew them well enough could clearly see how much they really loved eachother.
