Qazi would be a Karan Johar, Sooraj Barjatya, David Dhawan, Sunil Dharshan, or Farah Khan film. Masala blockbuster film... a 'Main Hoon Na' or 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum'. In these films, you find everything from rona-dhona to khushi to family values to action. Generally, people love these films, despite the flaws and cliched storylines. Why? Because they deliver wholesome entertainment that the public seeks. Many people feel satifised after watching such films. Critics may put down/insult such films calling them failures but nevertheless, these films go on to become huge hits thanks to star value and hype. You watch them and may forget them as time goes on. 😊
Shamit would be a Mira Nair, Satyajit Ray, Deepa Mehta, Ram Gopal Verma, or Aparna Sen film. Films by these directors don't have the same entertainment value of a Yash Raj or Farah Khan production. These films cross unthreaded paths, have unique characters despite low production values. The story is of prime importance...everything is fine-tuned. A Mira Nair or Aparna Sen film is not made in mind thinking whether the film will rake in a lot of moolah. Usually, the film is made for the sole purpose of experimenting with and creating ART. The directors challenge themselves when making such films. Critics praise such films for being different and poigant yet these films do not become huge hits (ie. making a lot money) The general public isn't willing to accept such films or they aren't comfortable watching them for whatever reason. But the few that watch such films appreciate them, regardless of what the public says. 😊
