The 14 Fame Gurukul contestants: Bound by music
Here's news for those who can't get enough of Fame Gurukul. Tune in
to MTV right after the show for the triumph and the tears of the
contestants on the Sony mega show. The result of a production and
content tie-up between the two channels, Fame Gurukul @ MTV is on
from July 18, Monday to Thursday at 9 pm, and every Friday at 9.30
pm, on MTV.

VJ Sophie will interview the contestants in 15 and 30-minute
capsules. The show, to be aired for 12 weeks, will reveal juicy
titbits, rivalries, candid confessions and unseen footage from the
main show.

Says Vikram Raizada, vice-president, marketing and interactive, MTV
Networks India: "The M in MTV stands for music so it's only expected
that we would be associated with a music show like Fame Gurukul. The
way we have associated though is innovative. Viewers will be able to
see unique insights on MTV. It's all about us coming together to
multiply reach and audiences."

If all that's not enough, MTV will air build-up programming covering
the Making of Fame Gurukul, meeting the faculty, jury, contestants
and much more. MTV will also hold special contests, which will
entitle viewers to win a chance to be part of the studio audience,
hang out with the winners and win goodies.

Speaking on the association, Anupama Mandloi, creative director, Sony
Entertainment Television, said: "When I think of youth, I think of
MTV; hence we are delighted about this innovative partnership."

Declared safe - Qazi
Faculty saved - Arijit
In danger - Amit, Anubhav & Shamit.

Let's Go Solo
Gurpreet - Meere khabo mein jo aaye

This time there was a spring in her walk, a smile on her lips and energy in her voice. Everyone had thought she would be the one to leave the Gurukul, but Kirti got voted out. Gurpreet did not let go of this chance.
Shankar - This time I have no complaints.
K.K - You have shown tremendous improvement.
Javed - Your graph is moving upwards.
Gurpreet was declared safe.

Qazi - Na tum jano na hum
He has been called everything from a bad habit to immature but the audiences just love him. Having come out of the danger zone thrice, this time, Qazi did not have to depend on anyone.
K.K - This time you have put in effort and that showed.
Javed - You have amazing stage presence and you performed very well this time.
Shankar - You automatically attract attention, but this time you have sung well.
Qazi declared safe.

Rex - Kal ho na ho
Rex was the candidate whom the Jury could not touch; he was the A GRADE student. During the week, he got a rap on his knuckles from the faculty for being careless and not putting in enough effort. So Rex pulled up his socks and how!
Shankar - Even if you were not the top student this week, you would have been safe.
K.K - You were outstanding

Double Dhamal
Mona and Anubhav - Suraj hua madhyam chand jalne laga
They had been advised by Bosco to fall in love to bring out the expressions in the song. They had been given tips by everyone in the Gurukul on how to perform and indeed, they made a cute pair.
Mona - Shankar felt that Mona had sung from her heart and had even helped out her partner in places. K.K and Javed applauded the Faculty for having saved her the one time she was in the danger zone.
Anubhav - Shankar felt that though Anubhav was very good, he was unsatisfactory on the Gala night. Both Javed and K.K found him careless and they felt that he needed to put in mehnat.
Mona declared safe. Anubhav put in danger zone.

Ruprekha and Shamit - Tujhe dekha to ye jana sanam
Both are strong singers and both had worked hard. Shamit advised Ruprekha to pull up her performance but unfortunately, he slipped
Ruprekha - Javed pointed out her faulty pronunciations.
Both KK and Shankar found her performance superb. In fact, Shankar said that this time round he had no complaints.
Shamit - Javed said that though Shamit was talented he had been careless that evening and was out of tune. Both Shankar and KK seconded this.
Ruprekha declared safe. Shamit put in danger zone.

Teen Murti

Arijit, Arpita and Amit - It's the time to disco
They had the peppiest number but the practice sessions had not been a cakewalk. There were differences between the three and Arpita had found Amit a bit domineering.
Arpita - Shankar found her very good and so did KK Javed felt that the song was against her nature which was essentially very serious. Though she had performed well, a little spark was missing.
Arijit - Shankar, who has been an Arijit fan, said that he was disappointed. Even KK felt let down and Javed found him mechanical this time.
Amit - KK felt that while Amit had the energy, he lacked tune. Shankar found him over confident and Javed felt that in his excitement Amit had forgotten to sing tunefully.
Arpita declared safe. Amit AND Arijit put in danger zone.

The 'Kirti' effect

After all the decisions were made, Shamit decided to do some explaining. He stood up against the allegations being made, that the vote against Kirti was politically motivated. Shamit said that this was not true and that the students had voted individually. Some votes went to Gurpreet despite Kirti being outstanding in the Caf Round because they sympathised with her.

To this, Javed's stern reply was - "If you think you are in danger today because of what you did to Kirti then you are making an even bigger mistake. You did not do a good job this time and you deserve what you have got. If Kirti's leaving has affected you so much, then maybe that is what influenced your singing - you all were careless and distracted."

MONA is immune this week.
QAZI was considered for immunity too (Oh My GOD!! I will stop watching this prog. the day QAZI is immunised.)

I guess, it is time for some clash between, irritant Rooprekha and talented Mona.

MONA....Gaal se jyada gaate hai....gala se kam...

i feel QAZI should be immune...not so for singing but winning the Viewers hearts for 3 consecutive times...its like 3 sixes in last 3 balls and still the team lost......does'nt make sense rt...

and who ever are the winners...QAZI must have a special place to perform along with the winners..something like ganguly and dravid are cap and vice cap but tendulkar is laways tendulkar..and qazi is also like that....cheers to him...

Rocking road to fame
Anumita Ghosh, Ipsita Deb
Singers Arijit Singh and Ruprekha Banerjee at the Fame Gurukul music launch

After the roaring success of Indian Idol, Sony Entertainment Television's Fame Gurukul is being touted as the next big thing in reality shows. The final Fame Jodi might be yet undecided, but the 14 finalists have made a headstart with Aasman Ke Par, their first music album for Sony BMG Music Entertainment that was launched nationally on July 25.

Finalists Ruprekha Bannerjee and Arijit Singh were present at the Calcutta launch on Tuesday.

Produced by composer Miko, Aasman Ke Par pays tribute to the hard work, heart-warming moments and friendship of the contestants in their journey so far. "Initially we all missed our family and friends, but gradually the Fame team became family," say both Ruprekha and Arijit.

The album is a medley of Hindi numbers like Dola re dola, Yaaron sunlo zara, Yahan ke hum sikander and Chand taare. The lead song Aasman ke par is accompanied by a music video.

"We are all anxious and excited. We have worked very hard and tried to give our best shot," says the duo.

"The album is a reflection of the aspirations of the students," says Sridhar Subramaniam, managing director, Sony BMG.

When asked about life in Gurukul, both the participants recount the rigorous training and strict discipline. "We are being groomed in all aspects of music, dance and performance. Apart from the faculty, celebrities like Rabbi, Vishal Shekhar, Alka Yagnik, Dia Mirza and Band of Boys shared useful tips."

Hailing from various parts of India, these youngsters have one thing in common: the zeal to make it big. "We all have potentials, but it all depends on how we perform in the gala rounds," they smile together
