Well he means that be ready for getting sacrificed on the name of reality show and public voting. The new guys selected were from outside and they knew all about the public standing of the contestants inside the gurukul and how to hit the popularity charts and survive in the gurukul. Monica had already started propaganda by claiming that qazi is the most arrogant one day & supporting him the very next day when she was in danger and needed public votes and sandeep had announced on his first Gala itself that he learnt to speak from qazi on gurukul show (read it as i am ready to replace qazi, so he can leave now).

Besides, by putting qazi and shamit who are obviously the most popular contestants (for quite opposite public sentiments) in SMS Zone with the new contestants and then choosing the new contestant to be saved by the faculty implies that the FG wants both of these out at any cost now. so even if I and most of others feel that Monica will be out (Qazi - public and Shamit - students), be ready for a shocker next thursday.

My 2 cents - The faculty/jury is not that bad as it seems. The script demands them to act like that and we can not blame them for that. They are asked to act in a certain manner and then even those parts are edited to provide masala to the REALITY DRAMA.

This one's got a twist in it! Instead of the old contestants, today three new and three old contestants will be performing. And even though they're not performing today, there's a lot of pressure on the current students. A storm is coming, as Padma and Prashant put it, and they have no idea how strong that storm is. Strong enough to blow them away? That's why they're all in tension today!

First, the current contestants did a splendid performance to "Hum Kisise Kum Nahin". Were they trying to hint anything? Looks like!

After that performance, our three new contestants were introduced. They are: Ravi Tripathi, Monica Gadgil and Sandeep Batra.

Mandira had a "Rapid-Fire" round, in which she posted one question each for the new contestants, and they had to answer quickly.

First Ravi was asked which judge he fears most. His answer was Javed.
Moinca was asked her favourite contestant, and she said Qazi.
Sandeep was then asked to name his favourite faculty member, and that person was Prashant.

Monica sang first, and her song was Rang De.

Judges on Monica:

Shankar said that Monica sang well, but her throw wasn't very good. However, she was in perfect sur.

Javed said that she has a nice voice, and it is evident that she's had good training. However, there was little masti in her voice, but she sang good.

KK also said there was little masti, but he thinks that's because she was nervous.

Then Ravi sang - his song was Ek Dost Doondth Tha Hoon Mein.

Judges on Ravi:

KK said that there was something missing in his performance, and that he should sing from his heart.

Javed said that he's written the name "Ravi" just as much times as Ravi himself must have written it. That's because Javed has penned songs for movies in which the name Ravi was very common.

Shankar said that Ravi should choose a song that allows him to give a mindblowing performance.

Sandeep's song was Deewana Hai Yeh Dil.

The judges on Sandeep:

Javed said Sandeep sang really well, he has a good andaaz and voice. He said, however, that there was too much of the original in it, and he should have brought out more of his own.

KK said that Sandeep seemed a bit nervous when he came on stage, but when he sang, he sang openly. KK praised him for being open when he came in front of the mike.

Shankar told Sandeep that in the beginning he was a bit shaky, but after that he was very good.

The judges decided they'd choose Sandeep Batra to enter Gurukul.

The students then had to vote. They voted:

Qazi - Monica
Shamit - Monica
Sandeep - Ravi
Arijit - Monica
Ruprekha - Monica
Arpita - Monica.

Therefore, Monica entered Gurukul as well.

The judges were asked to comment on the decision.

Shankar - Perfect choice.
Javed - They're looking so good over there.
KK - I wished for a girl and boy to enter, but I didn't know that my wish would come true.

The old students are Mona, Kirti and Rex. They were all received with huge applause from the audience and students. Mona sang Kabhi Neem Neem, Kirti sang Ramta Jogi, and Rex sang Janiya Kya Kiya.

On their performances, Shankar described them in one word each. Mona, he said, was outstanding. Kirti was fantastic, and Rex was marvelous.

KK said that Mona had really opened up. He told Kirti that he had many expectations from him. He commented on Rex's great performance.

Javed said that Mona was in a shell, and she had really come out. Kirti, he said, went in a day, but for several weeks later there was drama about it. He told Rex that his youth and energy was evident, and he's a good singer and performer. He also said that whoever listens to Rex tends to fall in love with him.

My comments:

Ravi - He was OK, not so good.
Monica - I didn't really like her... her throw wasn't good, and her voice isn't all that great either.
Sandeep - Amazing! I seriously think he can give Shamit and Arijit competition - even Arijit said that when Sandeep gave his opening notes, he thought they were equal.

The judges chose rightly. Out of Monica and Ravi, I think I'd have chosen Ravi - but both of them weren't really that good. I don't think Monica will make it very far into the competition.

On the oldies...

Mona, as usual, was very melodious. She looked gorgeous today, too, and her sur was perfect. Very good performance too!

Kirti's voice is stunning. He sang Ramta Jogi perfectly, and that's not a very easy song. He handled each note very well.

Rex, in my opinion, outshown the others. He was simply splendid - his combination of singing and performance was more evident than ever. The crowd was totally with him, and so were the students. I loved him!

In the new ones, Sandeep is the best, and out of the old ones performances today, Rex simply took the cake.

Overall, very enjoyable gala. I'm looking forward to the tension and competition now.

Fame Gurukul's Qazi hysteria

Watching Fame Gurukul on Sony has been quite a good past-time these days for me. Watching young wannabe singers fighting a nail biting battle on stage and sharing friendly moments off stage is a treat to watch.

There is a contestant named Qazi Tauqeer who is from Srinagar, Kashmir. Qazi is a great performer, but definitly not a good singer -but hey, he is not that bad after all. What I personally feel is that he has a great potential for becoming a specialized singer like Lucky Ali or Sukhvinder Singh (he has to go a long way before he can reach their feet).

All said, other contestants don't hold Qazi in a high place. Why? Because he is the one who after being in danger zone always makes a comfortable comeback every time, thanks to the generous votes that Indian public showers every week (here is an example of Qazi's public image).

Let's start with what other participants have to say about Qazi a then analysing those comments:

Arijeet: "I do not like his face.": Now what do you say about such a remark. I do not think it needs any explanation. Shamit: "He talks too much and is self obsessed." Lot of people talk too much I also talk very much. He also said that he repeats his talk over and over again. This is a medical condition(I don't remember the term) in which person feel that he is not being understood properly and repeats again and again what he wants to say.

As far as Qazi's being self obsessed, I do not think so. I feel he is very down to earth person. All contestants agree that he makes them laugh at him by making funny faces and acting funny. Any self-obssed person cannot do so.

Arpita: "He is too different" Is that the only reason that he sould be voted out. May be that is the only reason people are voting in his favour. Gurpreet: "He is not cut out for Gurukul." Anubhav: "Qazi is an actor yes, but not a singer." Mona: "This is a platform for singers." Rex: "Qazi should be in an actor's gurukul."
I agree that that he is not a good singer. But he is a great performer. . Now take example of a Palash Sen of Euphoria. He is a treat to watch on stage but I don't hold him very high as a singer. Same is the case with Qazi. Singing is something that can be taught and perfected by practice. Of course one needs basic voice quality for that and I think Qazi posses's that to some extent. As far as performing goes I think that is not something you can learn. Even before you go the theatre or films institutes, one needs to have that spark in grained. Thats what I see in Qazi.

In short, I see Qazi as a complete entertainment package. I feel Bhartia Janata (Indian public) should give him a break. He deserves it.

Thanks soniasheel for the link.
