Hey u all!
As u all should know by now that Qazi, Ruprekha and Rex were in Dhaka last week, I thought I should share my experience! They performed at three of the reknowned clubs, Dhaka, Gulshan and Uttara. Being the member of Gulshan club, i naturally attended their Day 2 performance over there. The show started off with Ruprekha, well she opened with two Bengali songs obviously to please the Bengali crowd. She moved on to hit n fast tracks which were loved by all but then at a point the crowd started chanting 'Qazi! Qazi!' and she was a bit disappointed i guess! She asked if the crowd wasnt supporting her and that Qazi would come soon and they would sing a duet together. Next up was Rex! He totally rocked! It was mindblowing, he sang all the latest numbers and turned the crowd wild. He has an awesome stage presence! Meanwhile, since my mom is friends with one of the organizer ladies, i could easily slip backstage! Qazi was sitting there in the dark and so was Rupu. I went to Qazi first, introduced myself as Samah and he asked me ' Aap bangali ho?'. I was like 'Im Arab Indian' and he asked 'Wo kese?' And i went on to explain that my dad is a Palestinian man and mom Indian ( Kolkata )! So he was like 'oh mixed roots, interesting! so enjoying the show?' I was like u bet! Rex is mindblowing and waiting for u to come on stage cuz ur breathtaking! Wished u both bcame the jodi' N he was like 'Thanks ur sweet'. We clicked a pic and he said it was gorgeous. I hurried out again, Rex got done in a while and Qazi came on stage. The moment everyone was waiting for, ( me not quite cuz im an avid fan of Rex!! i said he was breathtaking to charm him lolz, thats an inborn quality of mine )! He performed to a few songs, not necessary the latest in ones, but definitely ones people love, lol. He had kids walk over to the stage and dance to 'Ladki kyun na jane kyun', ( a lil boy and girl) It was innocent and really sweet! But then the security, dragged the kids away. Anyway to cut it short the show ended with the trio on stage, performing to Kajra Re.
Next day they were to perform at Uttara Club, the shows being literally the same, i wasnt too keen on attending the concert yet again! However, that evening, Qazi, Rex and Rupu were to come over to an Indian friend's place and the entire Indian community ( well just fans ofcourse ) gathered up there at 5 pm, they were late and arrived around 5:45. To some people's disappointment, Qazi could not make it! But i was very happy to have my Rex over there and the previous day i couldnt exactly talk to him! It was alot of fun. Firstly the stars took pictures with the fans, signed autographs and then moved on to sing a few lines. Rex sang a few lines from 'Kal ho naa ho', and 'Channa Vey'. Rupu sang a few lines from 'Mahi Ve' but one thing i noticed for sure, Rupu had an amazing voice without music n all but she very modestly declared it wasnt her best 'amar gola betha'. It was charmingly beautiful! Once they were done with their photo and autograph session, I went towards Rex with my friends, he was sipping hot tea from a cup, and standing with his back and facing the table full of goodies. I tapped him on the shoulder n went 'Hi Rex!' n he turned around, said hi n winked at me, heheh i was like im such a huge fan of urs, u really shudv won the title! N he went 'Arrey yaar, mein to khush hu!' N i went u should be since ur wayyy better and u have such a sweet smile. He went ' Thanks' shyly and told me that i was pretty too. ( Lol all my life wen ppl say im pretty, im like i know or tell me sthin new babes, here i was dumbstruck) Like i stupid i retorted 'Really?' N then asked him where else did he perform, he said ' Dubai, Tanzania, Nairobi and Dhaka' whereas Fame jodi has just been to Dhaka and Singapore. I asked him if the phone calls at fame gurukul were real or act outs. He was like there really were cameras all over and it was no act. They were taped 24/7. N then i asked him wen he wud leave Dhaka, he was like 'kal subha sare saat baje tarap tarap ke uthna parega!' N then asked 'Vesay kal tum they Gulshan Club mey?' N i was like 'haan, how do u know? ' N he went 'Na just asking' and i went it was a rocking performance! He thanked me and then one lady interrupted n asked hey rex if u travel so much wut happens to ur wife n he went ' Arrey wife!! Abhi to me Jawan hu! koi wife tife nahi ha' We exchanged contacts (which i have lala!!) LOL!Then spoke to Rupu in Bengali, she was sweet too and amused to have another Kolkatan there! She spoke about the craze in Dhaka but India is still India after all! Then my sis and I said our byes and were just entering the lift when Rex and his friend Hermit said 'Hume bhi aab nikal na hain' and joined us. He went Kamal hain bhai, Ruprekha ne uski ki favourite gaana chadni raate chhor kar mahi ve gaya!' Hermit cracked up with it and i asked him so Rupu loves that song, no wonder she sings it all da time! We were down in a few seconds, hugged Rex said byes n he said he would keep in touch via msn fer sure! Im like oh yeah that wud b great!
