WARNING: This post is not about any FG participant. However, read it for a review of Sonu Nigam's show in Dubai 😊
I thought I'd share this with all the people on FG (even though it might be more appropriate in the Indian Idol section) because this where I have spent most of my time on IF.
My shoulders still hurt and my arms are still sore from all the clapping I did Friday night, but I am ready to do it all over again if I can get to to see Sonu Nigam perform again! Sonu has been performing regularly in Dubai, and I have yet to miss any of his shows, or be disappointed. And Friday night was no exception. The parking was miles away; the show started at 10:15 pm instead of 9:30, yet nothing mattered once Sonu came on stage. What an amazing singer and what a great performer!!!👏👏👏
It was a small crowd compared to the previous shows, but he had them singing, dancing, cheering all the way through. His sheer energy level was enough to amaze everyone - singing live and dancing to Bijuriya without going off key, or even losing breath 👍🏼 He sang from his great repertoire of songs - 'kal ho na ho', 'main hoon na' (brilliantly interspersed with golden oldies including my two personal favourites - 'phoolon ke rang se' and 'maine tere liye hi saat rang ke sapne chuney'), 'suraj hua maddham', 'boley choodiyan', 'mahi ve', 'satrangi re', 'do pal', 'deewana', 'halka halka sa ye nasha', 'tumse milke' 'chanda ki doli' 'just chill', 'ada' and 'aaja soniye' among others. Some were simply 'goose-bump' category from the moment he uttered the first note 👍🏼 👏. They were just a tip of the iceberg of his talent. He signed off with 'tera rang balle balle', and we left the arena sated with great music, yet ye dil maange more!!!
I did record some clips, but unfortunately I have no idea how to upload them. If someone can help me with it, I'd be happy to share them here. May I suggest to everyone that if Sonu ever performs a concert in your neighbourhood, make sure you are there. You will get more than your money's worth - never mind the sore arms and shoulders!
I sign off from IF with this post. I joined IF to get updates on the soaps that I was missing while I was on holiday, and most of them have now become a real drag 😕. I got interested in FG from this forum (I started watching it from the Independence Day episode), and then I got involved in some discussions, and some serious discussions 😉. FG is done and dusted; I have only two weeks in this semester to impart knowledge to my students, and then I am off to India for a well-deserved holiday, lots of good food and really cold weather😃. So fare ye well, all of you - those I know and those I don't; those who agreed with me and those who didn't, and specially those who voted for me in the first FG Dhamaal contest 😳. Good luck, keep smiling and leave the computer for at least some time to get some physical exercise 😆😆😆!
