Yes, knowing a person is more important. Waise bhi, I don't look at interviews as a process of selection, but a process of elimination. And in any case, if I know a person, that person will get called for the interview as my reference. And if he/she is selected, I'll get 5000 to 10000 rupees as part of employee referral scheme. And then there can be a gr8 party.

You are making my life tough diksha. Now a sholay like situation. I would recommend both for selection to my higher management - leave it to my boss with his aiioh to make the decision.
