It is a bit late as I was on vacation but will put couple of posts today, first being this. The memories of 3 protoganists under that avalanche actually reminded me of a scene from Dil Chahta Hai where Shalini asks Aakash if he were given a second chance to live who will be that one person for whom he will want to live. She asks him to close the eyes and think about it.
Same was the case with Anjali, Aakash and Arjun. It is said that when faced with life and death situations it is the need to live, I mean a fierce push by something or someone you love so much that brings you back to life. So let use see for each of those what was that force and to be frank it is that force they need to cherish life long over and above everything
First Anjali.I would say a very painful memory. I as a woman to be frank couldn't sit through it. Couldn't see the girl so neglected by her father. Was unable to see the child's yearning for her father's love, that longing look she gave to the vegetable vendor and his son. The hug the little girl gives to her father which is not reciprocated and the tearful Anjali cutting the b'day cake. Her questions to her mother bought tears to my eyes, when she tells doesn't my father like me, doesn't he love me. Innocent questions but it shows a child can feel, the emotional abuse her father inflicted on her was huge. It was easy to feel worthless, not wanted but Anjali pushes the snow with all the might. The force that makes her do it is Sarita's voice. The voice which tells her " Do it for me " my child. Yes her father had neglected her, but under that avalanche more than the father's neglect, Anjali had looked at her mother's love. The trust Sarita had kept on her. Yes she came back, because at that moment she knew she was all her mother ever had.
Then Aakash. We see some good light heart moments Aakash shared with his friend Gaurav and his mother as well as the pain ful memories he had post Gaurav's death. It was easy to get lost in those painful memories. To feel power less and give up. To revive the feeling of being responsible for Gaurav's death. But Aakash fights and what makes him fight is the care Shika Maa gave him. That he has to move on. He cannot change what happened. Also the realization that the best gift to Gaurav is being a dutiful son to Shika Maa. To make her proud of him. He came back to life for her
Last but not least Arjun. I would say this is the best as this kind of opened up the mystery man Arjun. When faced with life and death the only thing Arjun could remember was his time with Reena. The trust that girl kept on him. Love that she gave him. He didn't think of Everest summit, or serpeech or his journey to other mountains but the thoughts were focused on Reena. That means his heart still value her, he still wants to go back to her. It is her face that made him fight, take the torch and light it.
Though the 3 protoganists have not yet completely realized the true things that are dear to them, they will soon realize the importance of what they have, than going for something which they don't have. Because only if you appreciate what you have, you will be able to get better things in life.
