I understand artistic licence but this is way beyond and not what I would expect from someone like Gowarikar. This is not licence, it is suspension of logic and disbelief and common sense

Agreed. Well, suspension of logic and disbelief and common sense happens in mostly shows these days, just to glorify characters without logic.

Segad, even Anjali is equally delusional but she is not selfish. I want to call her stupid.

Dev, Suspension of logic.. LOL... Yes, I wonder what exactly they mean by Woman empowerment ? we have two set of ideologies trying hard in our TV world. One connects woman with the female energy, adi shakti that is to say the supreme power and other treats her as a doormat. Unfortunately, both promotes inequality.

We had a long discussion on discrimination because Anjali was refused to accompany the rescue team. Frankly speaking, even Akash is not fit for the rescue mission. How can newcomers be there to rescue a team of veteran mountaineers ?

Why did Colonel allow admission for Anjali ? No institution allows that. At least Govt ones don''t do that. I know a case where a student ( Yes, a girl student) was denied admission because she could not attend the counselling following her father's death. She didn't report it to the authorities. The Principal refused to buy that excuse saying if he admits her, he has to allow many because each will have one or other story to put forward. This is how real world works. Is this called Woman empowerment ? A girl has to make her papa happy so bend the rules for her ?

Which profession allows direct promotion like this ? Cricket, Football or anything else. You are enrolled for a junior post only even if you are the University topper. Here NIM training takes her straight to the Everest ? Well, she seems to do anything to get her goal but one thing she cannot do is to come clean with her father. I know she called her father and blurted out a few words. That's not enough. She had to tell him that she cannot marry Vidhaan now because she has a goal. But no, here with zero experience she wants to do it now itself. Does she realise if she fails or dies somehow Colonel's reputation will be smashed ?

What if Gowariker had shown that after knowing her father doesn't like her and Everest was something he could not achieve she tries to achieve it on her own. First NIM and then few other expeditions here and there and after 3 years or so she sets for her expedition. Would not it be more logical ? Why women has to be special in Indian shows? Why can't they be just another human being ? That will promote woman empowerment in real sense.

I wonder what If Brigadier had a wish of doing a P.hd instead of climbing the Everest. How would have Anjali done that in a month or two?

Again repeating my words, I am not bashing her character. Its just an opinion.

True, anjali's climbing alone ,and without even informing anybody at the base camp is ridiculous!
How can a long lecture by a friend suddenly arouse her passion for climbing? and for whom she is doing it! a delusional father. ..Anjali's character from day 1 is very stagnant and confusing, and TBH, i dont feel that FIRE in her, that she talks about... setting out alone doesn't justify that..

Today;s episode shows she doesn't even respond to akash's messages... why is that? that means they dont even know she has set out! do they plan to show her as a superwoman?😆

regarding inclusion of Akash / aanjali's inclusion as freshers in a rescue team- well I think that was a compulsion, since there was no one as experiences as chand, arjun and Col. For that matter, who allows a first timer to climb Everest directly?? anjali was allowed on Emotional ground, and Akash is duty- bound. all these are creative licence and gotta agree😉

Women are treated specially in Indian shows because that serves audiences tastes.. AG herself says that he had to choose a female character and narrate the story from her POV , cos otherwise, he would not tapped audience for his show. 😆 I think its psychological.

Even if I allow for the Col being impressed by her wall climbing monkey antics and allowing her to join NIM, one month of training in no way shape or form prepares you for Everest. Does she think that she will go to the summit and be back by dinner? No thought process explained at all. Seems like a suicide mission.
I don't think that her marriage is an issue because she has been raised to be obedient and not question decisions. Even if it wasn't marriage and was admission in a Home Ec course, she would have agreed easily

Even if she got on the Everest mission thru the Col's influence with Rungta, this latest decision of her's to go it alone without telling anyone based on a random statement made by her friend who is miles away is actually an example of her immaturity. This is precisely why you should not get emotional and take decisions.

I think that the Col by not taking her along, actually displayed the typical patriarchial attitude as expected from an Indian man his age. Nothing new there. But her decision is so out of character and just plain wrong any way you look at it, that it kind of thru me off.

@dey unfortunately our TV has not reached a point where they can show a realistic portrayal for women or shall I say men too. Thanks to TRP. But the interesting fact is that some 15-20 year back DD had given much strong realistic portrayal of human emotions through some teleshows.
But unfortuanely in the 2000 when we say we are more progressive, TV went to primitive era to feed the so called TRP audience.
Woman remained door mats or super humans and men either abusive or dumb. In other ways whether it is the leading lady she has to be shown super sacrificial, able to take everything, cry buckets and then to save her parivaar, sanskaar( I take both these words as the most abused words in Indian TV where the beautiful meaning of these words is completely lost) do some super human act.
And the male lead he has to be either tied to the pallu of his mom or he should be blackmailed by his ex-lover, sister, friend, woman with whom he is having extra marital affair. He should be abusing his wife, should never trust her, ditch her atleast 4 to 5 times( doesn't matter if he is a business tycoon, lawyer, doctor, engineer, MBA whatever he should be like this). Never take any decision on his own or should never use his intelligence. And in most shows remain an arm candy the only purpose is be there for romance when the ladies run the manipulation and " tu tu mein mein".
It is after a long time to be frank I had seen a author backed role in DABH for Sooraj( now unfortunately completely butchered), after that to some extent for Shaurya Goenka in EHT, though in the end they made it between Sakshi and Durga but still Shaurya had some role better than many arm candy ones.
And in Everest I see there is some role for both the male leads Aakash and Arjun other than being arm candies.

@ Shruti :That's so true. We had Aarohan then where a woman was being trained to be a fair naval officer. Even Kaun , a detective series where the prime investigator was a woman. Today's Tv world claims to show equality but fails real bad in portraying that.
In another show, which I will not name, a woman has been deserted by her husband because her profession demanded her to be loyal to the country and while doing her duties as the SP she had unknowingly put her mother-in-law's life at stake. This is the most stupid thing I heard in my life. Lets forget about the husband because he has been supportive of her decisions all her life. What about others ? They have a right to point fingers ?

Her sister-in-laws have either lied at home or bought exam papers or even exchanged the new born babies.

The men had a history of being spinless. remained away from the household duties. SOme great ones also deserted a woman who was pregnant with his child.

Our hero but have forgave all of them. Not only that his wife also helped him all the while. But her one not so mistake is but a mistake that makes her to be thrown out of the house.
