Hey everybody! I have become a silent IF member over the years since most serials turn to cliche plots after they get their main track done so there isn't much to discuss. But, the leap in Veera has SO much potential so I couldn't help but share my thoughts.
Casting: Shivin is GREAT! I never watched any of his earlier shows but have been stalking him on forum 32 and OMG!! WHAT.A.GUY. I think he is so unlike ranvi but he has immersed himself in the character completely. That hesitation of a village boy, that proud fatherly motherly feeling when Veera graduated. Like, a lot of other people I wasn't quite sold to the idea of casting digangana as veera. To be honest, I've gotten past the voice. Being the curious cat I am, I watched a lot of SBS and SBB leap interviews. Its too early to say this, but she doesn't gel with shivin in the way I'd like offscreen veera and ranvi to. Unfortunately, this might affect their chemistry. No veera ranvi scene has truly made me go awww. The relationship is stuck where bhavesh and harshita left it. Over the years, there should have been more connection and more comfort. Individually, digangana isn't doing a bad job. Her scenes with Karan and the emotional scene during graduation were quite good. BUT, I have doubts about her enhancing the way we look ar ranvi veera's bond. That rapport and bond just isn't clicking right. Perhaps some of it also has to do with the screen play.
Content:
I wanted a long ranvi veera scene that had nothing to do with chaos of the graduation. Just a simple ranvi veera scene that showed their bond. Ranvi shouldn't always just be in awe of veera. Ranvi veera are buddies too. Just them recalling their childhood in a slightly longer scene. Recalling how ranvi used to make her study. Nothing flowery like the speech. Just simple recollections between the two of them. How naughty veera was and how she'd get told off by her veerji every now and then. how curious she was. how she always had this thirst for knowledge that got her scolding from beeji sometimes. This would give an insight about the details of the veera ranvi bond. But, its just been a week and candid ranveera convos are on my wish list. Maybe, we'll get one on Monday when Veera is hiding her sadness and ranvi catches her.
Also, I just don't hope the creatives forget what the duties of a ma really are sInce Ranvi is the anokhi ma. I think a mother can be your best friend and worst critic. Obviously, the way she criticises is a different matter altogether. I just hope Ranvi doesn't start to think he is inferior. Yes, Veera has a degree but her veer ji still has the rights to guide her through life. I would love Shivin in scenes that highlight Ranvi's emotional maturity, especially when it fine tunes Veera's foolishness at times.
Having said all this, as much as I loved the kids, the leap isn't panning out to be a disaster. There is consistency in at least the fact that veera did not become a cliched non stop partying and vampy city girl. More power to the creatives and much good luck to Shivin and Digangana. The core of this show are Ranveera and they have a lot resting on their shoulders.
Hope you enjoyed by thoughts and right back with what your wish list scenes are! :)
