Maybe the cvs way of thinking was that since Devdas was a story set in the early 1900's it was okay to imagine the song was prevalent in those days.😆 This is known as willing suspension of disbelief.
However, it would have been wiser on their part to choose a song that actually existed in the 1940's, even a popular Bollywood number of the heydays.
Plus, some of the musical instruments used for the dola re song may not have been used in the 40's.

If it is about touch only, then i guess there should not be any problem. "Dola re" song has the touch of that era. It is from Devdas movie which itself is a based on a novel written in early 1900s. And infact first devdas movie was also made somewhere in 1940s or 50s.I was also just sharing my views 😊
1940 songs were all classical & slow motion..they ddnt have much option
Watever it is i loved that song..excited for the epi

yay DEVDAS and dola re song is fine but what about Dhol baje from RAM-LEELA--??did ram leela to have made in early 40 and 2013 Ram-leela was 1940s adaption???????????

I have not watched Ram-Leela actually. But the movie was an adaptation of Shakespeare "Romio & Juliet" which belongs to way back 1600s. So the story, setups and songs of movie must have been designed keeping that in mind. And as far as i know SBS reporter said Gayatri "Dola re" song pe naach rahi hai. I am not sure if they used Dhol-baje song too.
