Bertie,
More than book reading...it was the kiss reading that I applauded.😆 Books- we all thought of...but what they found...and what they did with that! Excellent!👏

I felt it was done very nicely because it gave us insights into both their characters...G knew RNJ wouldn't like it..it was just light reading for her.😆 She herself was yawning, reading it before he came in. She would have loved a giggle session with Swarna over this...But RNJ! OMG! It looked like she wanted to melt and disappear when he read all that.🤣

And his choice of reading.😉 I suppose all his love story with Sula was a spiritual affair too..😆 It was really cute.❤️

Chick...of course they wouldn't adopt suggestions verbatim...even if we did inspire them, they would interpret it in ways that suited them...they are creatives for a reason 😆

My only joy was from seeing a wish being fulfilled...!

And his relationship with Sula was anything but spiritual...it was all about flexing her power over him for Sula...he was clearly and completely obsessed with her...at least that was what the FBs made me believe...irrespective of what they intended to convey!

Edit - Sula was this exquisite butterfly that he was fascinated by. It perched on his shoulder for a bit and he was mighty thrilled with that! But then it flew away and he was devastated.

Did the butterfly choose to sit on his shoulder because it loved him too or was it a case of sitting on the shoulder of a besotted king?

I think being adored by a woman is a new experience for him. He is unknowingly reveling in it! For me, the rifle shooting scene was somewhere that. Also the dance! He knows the effect he has on her. And it gives him immense pleasure to exercise it!

RNJ's choice of reading could very well have developed after Sula's death
People do tend to resort to spiritual books as a coping mechanism

Characterisation of Rana Deo - my understanding so far :
Rana Indravadhan Singh Deo is a gentleman, upright royal, well brought up and amazingly committed - to his late wife, his honour, his family and his subjects /kingdom. He is the only child who goes ahead to marry his childhood sweetheart (another royal), Sulakshana. who was probably his best friend and confidante and he invested heavily into that relationship. Her demise shook him to the core leaving him terribly alone. Off he goes to the war and is back in his kingdom after 5 years, only to see himself being viciously targeted and the kingdom under heavy debt. Nobody around to confide or rest a shoulder on, his late wife's pleasant memories are his only solace. The stiff upper lip stance gains more prominence as he plays the role of "King of Ameerkot."
Coerced to marry a merchants daughter, who he considers a cheat and gold-digger with an eye on the Queen's crown, in exchange to clear his kingdoms's debt, he sees himself as a pawn used by his mother, Rajmata very shrewdly to keep the dynasty alive. Rana Deo despises everything about Gayatri. While his mother, Rajmata, tries to make him understand and clear the misunderstandings created at regular intervals, Rana Deo is unflinched.
The man, Indradhavan is lost in this entangled turn of events. His only moments of relief comes in the company of Rani Bhabhi, a charming woman, who he considers his sister and with whom he tries to be himself.
A turn of events eventually leads him to believe that his Queen Gayatri Devi could be innocent and may not have weaved a web of lies, to get wedded to him. While he is intrigued at her personality, having never spent time with another woman (commoner), his manners and upbringing help him to be the gentleman he is. As he takes care of Rani Gayatri's every need, being partly responsible for her current state of injury, he marvels at her reading habits and wonders what else is in store of him! Her ability to question his every move and comparisons being drawn between a husband or a King is unnerving, but he takes it sportingly and decides to push the answer to a later date after she recovers completely. While Sulakshana still rules his heart, he needs time to understand his new Queen who is yet to conduct herself as a Royal.
--------------------------------------
I hav read posts about how Rana Deo is controlling his desires after celibacy of 6 years and why Gayatri's beauty and closeness is affecting him as "Indradhavan"...😳 😳 My opinion is that Indradhavan has not yet been awakened by Gayatri. What we have seen so far could be the King who treats people with lot of respect and kindness, so Gayatri is no different. Rana Deo has not yet crossed the line drawn by him. The day he choses to do so, the transition from Rana Deo to Indradhavan would be complete and they both would carry the same identity!! 😃
I could be wrong, thou...only the Creatives know!!! 😃
I would love to see a new character, in the form of Rana Deo's friend (another Royal) being introduced in this show. Perhaps, a friendship that grew during the war days. It would be very creative and novel to see this friend understand Gayatri and warm upto her, leaving Rana Deo perplexed. His friend can even teach her English and other outdoor activities...😉

Ofc, Bertie...that is why they are called creatives.😉

Actually, I feel RNJ picturising himself as a one- woman man stems from his spirituality. He is a very serious guy...he finds girlish behaviour frivolous. Sula was a goddess to him...he seems to paint her a saint...Thus he becomes the jogi.

It is this ascetic pursuit that has made him indifferent to G or any other woman...he feels he has only one soul mate- that was Sula. All the more reason I feel Sula is going to change shades sometime.😉

Chick...you missed my edit 😕

But yes, Ram ji is probably his adarsh purush...he probably had people telling him he was Ram ji ka avatar...and he's taken it seriously...from refusing to move on after Sula to leaving his wife in the forest 😆

Sula is the epitome of everything to him...she is almost an illusion...and when you make a character that, the fall is almost inevitable...😉

Shwets! 👏

This is one episode where I had eyes only for Gayatri.....So pretty. ❤️ DD balanced the character so well. This is the first time ever I am appreciating her comedy.

Rekha, while I agree with your word portrait broadly, I think the line between Indravadhan and Rana Deo has blurred for sometime even without his realizing it!

Agree with you on the physical though. It would take more than that to wake up a man from celibacy after six years, I would think. It is not imposed but voluntary and mere lust is not good enough to break his self imposed restraint!

@chicksoup
DD was indeed looking supremely gorgeous and I enjoyed her take too!

But but...the knight in white retained my attention...because the actor is dropping clues now and then to the state of mind of his character...I am so keen to decipher the code that I watch intently for the clues...😉😆
