Fully justified from a father's side to slap his daughter, firstly this is a 1940 epic wherein things were different still as a father he gave her full freedom, which has been misused by gayatri by acting childish and getting drunk, which is not acceptable even in today's time leave alone in those days.. this is my thought..

Exactly Bauji has given her total freedom so not wrong in Slapping .

If your looking it through an Indian mindset it's fine. But like I say as an American I believe in innocent until proven guilty. My disappointment is not with him hitting his daughter my dissapiontment is with him not bothering to find out what Gayatri's side of the story is. It was an accident on her part. But in old times I guess people accused than thought about whether it was a fair accusation or not.

I am looking this story from the 1940 Ameerkot mindset . Drinking was big thing even Boys were not allowed leave alone girls . About not listening to Gayatri's side of story . For that even circumstances matter a lot .
