What Roshni did was right or wrong?

Roshni shifted the patient to OT based on the diagnosis per her instincts. It was an emergency and every second was important for patient's life. She didn't waste time in doing any tests which was against hospital protocol.

As they said, it was all well because it ended well.. What would have happened if her diagnosis was wrong and patient's health had worsened?

It must have been a tough moment to take decision for Roshni. Slight confusion and you loose the control over patient. I guess that is the reason for which there are protocols, to follow the correct procedures even in case of emergency. And the judgment of when you decide to break those must be coming through experience.

Roshni was made to submit a written apology and she got saved from a harsh punishment. Doesn't it send a message that the protocols can be violated on needy basis? Not sure how hospitals handle such situations!!

Erm, though I am not really sure what the punishment for breaking the protocol is, I personally feel its fine to break it if you are absolutely sure about the diagnosis and if not taking the right step immediately will lead to complications... Like in this case, every symptom of tamponade was observed and it was immediately after a cardiac surgery which increased the chances of right diagnosis. But still she did wait till bp dropped too much to wait for another doctor to arrive...
As medicos, even before we attended the first lecture, we were told by our principal that nothing is more important than a patient's life...
just imagine the guilt if you know you could have done something but did not do it only coz its against the protocol and then lose the patient
In some situations its not about what is right and what is not... Its only about saving the life.
So I'm with roshni in this case

Thanks for the informative reply. 😊
Personally I feel that a doctor's job is more stressful and tough than any other job!

First of all I want to say I love amol character among all...! And having such gr8 actor is like a double treat!

Coming to the episode..

I wonder why there was no cardiothoracic surgeon on duty!
I don't know how it works in uk hospitals but in India there always one specialist on duty if it's a superspecality hospital..

And why didn't roshni call onduty resident to take suggestions before starting surgery!
Ok if Mathew didn't pick the call she should hv called another cardiac specialist.. . It's not like one hospital has only one specialist! That would hv been a smart step imo...

Cardiac tamponade is easy to diagnose and if patient is recently operated on heart then its possibility increases...so that scene looked realistic...

In india if diagnosis is correct , procedure done is justified n everything is documented properly then there is no problem...

roshni was right imo...but
she is junior ,still a trainee n we don't know if she has done such procedures before or not... So I expected her to call any senior cardiac surgeon before opening up...that would hv looked more realistic...

Rest I liked Nick encouraging roshni...

Precap was good...!
