Present...
Night..
Prem was sitting on the wooden bench near the river lost deep in his thoughts.. Kalpi saw him from far.. She frowned as to why he is sitting there.. She walked towards him and sat next to him.. They were seen by raghav who woke up to get some water as the water inside his canopy finished.. He stood at a distance where he can listen to them..
K: " prem, u r not sleeping?", she asked prem whose face was turned on the other side...
As she didnt get any response, she turned him by his shoulder to face her... She was shocked to see his eyes were bloodshot as he was crying..
K: " what happened?whats the problem prem? Why.. Why are u crying?", she asked in concern..
Without saying anything, prem hugged her tightly and cried.. Kalpi was stunned for a moment but she slowly raised her hand and hugged him back to console him...
Raghav clenched his jaws seeing his wife in prem's arms...
K: " prem what happened? Any problem? Look u r scaring me now.. Tell me whats it?"
Prem broke the hug slowly and wiped his tears before getting a calm face..
Pr: " nothing.. U go and sleep.. Its getting late..", saying so he looked away from kalpi..
Kalpi frowned and turned his face again towards her by his cheek..
R(in mind): " why is he crying?"
K: " prem u r my best friend.. And how can i just go leaving my friend who is worried about something? We are friends prem.. Share ur pain with me.."
Pr: " thats the problem kalpi..", he said softly..
K: " pardon.. I don't understand.."
Pr: " i cant see u as a friend only kalpi.. U r more than that kalpi.. I.. I.. Love you... I love you kalpi..", he said holding her hand in his while kalpi looked at him with mixed emotions..
Raghav gritted his teeth and looked away to control the anger...
K: " prem.. I.."
Pr: " no let me talk.. Since childhood, i had nobody other than my mom.. I have never given a place to any other woman other than my mom in my heart... But all changed when u came into my life... I dont know when and how i fell in love with u but i really love u... U have made a deep place here..", he said pointing at the place where his heart lies...
Kalpi looked at him helplessly as she knows he is hurting but she cant love him back...
Pr: " i know u dont love me... I know u consider me as ur friend.. And u have made it clear to me that u can never love me.. But, i had the hope that one day my love will melt ur heart which u have locked... But..", he brought her hand towards his mouth and kissed her knuckles...
Raghav bend the steel water jug he had in his hand seeing prem kissing kalpi's knuckles..
Kalpi looked at prem without blinking..
Pr: " but when i saw ur husb.. (He paused).. raghav, i dont know why but i felt i lost u forever... Not because i saw love for u in his eyes.. But, i saw the love for him in ur eyes..."
Kalpi shook her head negatively and was about to oppose..
Pr: " no.. I saw that in ur eyes... The UNDYING LOVE.. I saw pain in ur eyes seeing him hurt.. Haha.. I was just felt terrible.. U know nah seeing the love for other man in ur love's eyes is the most painful thing in the world... I tried composing myself but i cant..", he chuckled sadly in tears...
Tears started flowing from kalpi's eyes... Raghav's expression softens hearing prem's words.. He understood that prem loves kalpi truly..
Pr: " i.. Now.. I feel better talking to u.. Its late... Good night..", saying so he stood up and turned to leave..
Kalpi caught him by his wrist.. She stood up and hugged him..
K: " im sorry prem...", as she thinks she is indirectly responsible for prem's pain..
Pr: " hey, dont say sorry... And dont cry.. I hate seeing tears on my friend's eyes..", saying so he wiped her tears before making way towards his camp..
Kalpi sat lifelessly on the bench.. Prem walked towards his camp and he came face to face with raghav.. He looked straight at raghav's eyes... Then, without saying anything, he went inside his camp..
K(in mind): " god... Why are u making me guilty of hurting such an innocent soul... I understand.. I do understand that prem loves me... More than anyone would love me... But my heart cant accept that... My heart only belongs to the man who destroyed me.. My heart still beats for the man who never cared about my feelings and emotions... I tried a lot but i cant forget him.. He is dissolved in each and every cell of mine... Is this called my fate or destiny?", she closed her eyes tightly because the inner turmoil in her is killing her...
Sleep was far away from their eyes... Kalpi was thinking about both raghav and prem.. Slowly she drifted off to sleep... Raghav was tossing and turning on his bed.. He woke up from his bed and straight away went to prem's camp... Prem was still awake and was sitting on his bed while his fingers were playing with a diamond ring... The diamond ring he bought to propose her...
Prem paused seeing raghav...
Pr&R: " im sorry..", both said in union...
Pr: " why are u saying sorry? I was the one who hit u.. So, im really very sorry for my behaviour.."
Raghav nod his head in no..
R: " no, im sorry.. Sorry for thinking wrong about u..", prem looked surprised...
R: " i thought u wanna snatch my love from me.."
Prem gave a small sad smile..
Pr: " i love her... But she only loves u.."
Raghav looked surprised..
Pr: " dont look at me like that.. She loves u.. She herself told me that she cant accept me because she still loves u and cant forget u.."
Raghav smiled overwhelmed...
R: " i know.. But i took long to understand her love.. Thats why im standing here..."
Pr: " she is too much hurt raghav.. Because of u.."
Raghav closed his eyes and tears spilled from the corner of his eyes.. Prem went near him and placed an assuring hand on his shoulder making him open his eyes..
Pr: " but, i can see that u r regretting... But, still ur pain is nothing compared to hers.."
Raghav bowed his head in shame..
Pr: " but... I want her to be happy ragahv... She has suffered enough... I want her to be happy even if she is not with me.. Because i know U R HER HAPPINESS.."
Raghav looked at prem because prem was so understanding which raghav never had in him.. All he wanted is kalpi's happiness..
R: " prem.."
Pr: " she was, is and will always be yours raghav... She cant give ur place to any other person.. And i hope u wont hurt her again.."
R: " she is not ready to forgive me.. Leave alone forgiving me, she is not even ready to look at my face and talk to me...", he said dejected..
Pr: " u easily broke her heart buddy.. Now u have to try hard to gain her back.. She will accept u because she loves u..."
R: " how can u be so understanding?"
Pr: " because I LOVE HER..", he said giving a sad smile..
Raghav and prem hugged each other...
Next morning..
Raghav and sammy were talking with pakhi.. (Well raghav was talking while chudail and gadha were fighting..lol.). Raghav told them about his conversation with prem.. Then they were discussing on how to make kalpi close to raghav..
S: " yaar, she is a hard nut to crack.. I tell u these girls are all same.."
Pa: " gadha like u wont understand human behaviour let alone woman behaviour.."
S: " acha? I thought chudail like u wont understand either..", he said giving a fake smile...
Pa: " if not for kalpi and raghav nah, i would have injected poison on u when u are sleeping..."
Sammy widen his eyes..
S: " owww... How rude? U dont have specially try to kill ppl... Even when u treat ppl normally, u will end up killing them.. Such a sloppy doctor u are.."
Pa: " dont u dare talk about my profession gadha!!!", she warned pointing her index finger towards sammy's face..
S: " and dont u dare point ur finger to my face u chudail..", he said lowering her finger forcefully with his finger..
Raghav closed his eyes irritated by their childish behaviour..
R: " god.. Pls save me from such immature creatures..", he said looking up at the sky and was heard by sammy and pakhi..
S& Pa: " what did u say?", both asked in union glaring at raghav..
R: " nothing.. Nothing at all..", he said giving a fake smile..
R: " guys, pls stop fighting and give me idea how to manofy my wife.."
Pa: " i dont know why ur wife become stubborn? All because of the effect of being married to u.."
S: " raghav... The patients get more attention that u while being her husband u r being ignored..", he said chuckling..
Something clicked in raghav's brain.. He hugged sammy in happiness..
R: " sammy!! Sammy!! U r a genius dude.. U r the best... Thank you..", he said excited..
Pakhi and sammy looked at each other puzzled before looking at raghav...
Pa: " im sure.. Now raghav needs a dictionary as well to know the meaning of genius.."
Sammy glared at her...
S: " raghav.. I know im genius, brilliant, and extraordinary.. The human species knew it very well except some chimpanzee species (he said looking at pakhi who narrowed her eyes)... But, what did i do now that u r praising me ?"
R: " wait and watch..", saying so he started to look for something around him while sammy and pakhi looked on curiously...
Raghav's eyes brighten seeing the thing he was looking for.. He bend down and picked a small knife from the ground... He grinned showing it to sammy and pakhi.. Pakhi understood what he is trying to say.. She widen her eyes..
Pa: " no no no.. Raghav u r not doing such thing.."
R: " it will work pakhi.."
Pa: " raghav r u crazy?", she asked unbelievably...
R: " yeah.. Crazy for my wife..", he said biting his lower lip..
Pa: " what the.."
S: " hey hold on.. What u guys talking about?"
Pa: " this gadha never understands anything.. Raghav want to cut his hand so that he can get her attention.. This is complete nonsense .."
S: " wow.. Bro, thats an awesome idea..", he said patting ragahv on his shoulder encouragingly..
Pakhi looked at both of them like they are from different planet..
S: " look.. Chudail, this is men thing.. U wont understand..."
Pa: " oh really? I hope u two understand that kalpi is not the only doctor here.. She can simply ask me, prem or the junior doctors to treat u..."
R: " thats ur work to make sure nobody else from interfering..."
Pakhi rolled her eyes..
Pa: " fine..."
S: " there she is..", and the trio made way near to kalpi...
Raghav took a deep breath and closed his eyes.. Without hesitating, he slid the knife on his palm.. He squeezed his hand and blood dropped from the wound... Raghav signalled sammy to start his drama..
S: " oh my god... Oh my god.. Ragahv what happened? Ur hand is bleeding.. Oh my.. This much blood? Doctor!! Doctor!!", pakhi pursed her lips to laugh at the gadha's overacting..
Some other doctors came there but before that pakhi made them go away.. Kalpi looked on in numb... Sammy came towards kalpi..
S: " kalpi.. Pls help my friend.. Look.. How much blood... Kalpi pls do something..."
K: " pakhi... Do..", before she could continue,
Pa: " yeah.. Im coming..," she said in different direction like someone called her...
K: " pakhi.. Pakhi..", she called repeatedly but pakhi left before that...
Prem cross by the place.. Seeing him, ragahv, pakhi, and sammy thought that their plan gonna flop..
K: " prem, u r needed here.. Why dont u.."
Pr: " oh god.. I forgot.. I have to attend an emergency case at the fifth camp..", saying so he winked at raghav unknown to kalpi and left the place..
Kalpi panicked as he was hurt.. She fight with herself whether she should treat him or not..
S: " kalpi, what are u waiting for? Pls come and help.."
