A rural area in India which lacks basic amenities...
A girl wearing a white coat was sitting inside a canopy of a medical camp set near the river area... She was writing something a few minutes ago... But now, her fingers stopped moving the pen and her eyes are staring at an empty space... She was in deep thinking...
"Dr Kalpana! Dr Kalpana! There's an emergency!! Pls come...", another young male doctor came there shouting..
Kalpana came out of her thoughts and looked at the other doctor in concern.. She immediately stood up and ran with the the doctor to the emergency place... The place was just strike by earth quake.. The climate there was moody.. Thousands of people of that particular village lost their homes, belongings and loved ones... And the most important thing that they need right now is medical aid... Kalpana is one of the doctors who volunteered herself to serve in the medical camp...
K: " what happened prem?", she asked the other doctor named prem who was running to the emergency place along with kalpana..
Pr: " a small kid of an age about 6, her pulse is slipping.. We are loosing her...", he said in loud voice as the whole base camp is full of noise or say voices of agony of patients and voices of concern and care of doctors working like robots trying to make positive changes in the lives of those people in need..
Soon they reached the place where the 6 years old girl who was fighting against the death.. There were already two young doctors who are juniors to kalpana and prem trying their best to stabilise the girl's condition...
Kalpana went and kneeled down near the girl...
K: " check the blood pressure..", she told the junior doctors, Veena and Amar...
V: " Dr, its dropping...at a very fast rate..", she said anxiously..
Kalpana nodded her head affirmatively.. She wore hear stethoscope and checked the girl's heartbeat.. A frown ceased her forehead as the breathing of the girl slowly decreasing..
Pr: " she is dying...", he muttered while his eyes on the girl..
Tension engulfs Prem and the two young doctors... But, kalpana looked calm without any glimpse of panic and nervousness..
Soon, the girl's breathing stopped...
Kalpana immediately placed the heel of her hand on the girl's chest and the other hand on top of it with fingers interlaced.. She compressed the girl's chest... Then she cleared the airway (mouth) with her finger..she tilted the girl's head backwards.. She placed one hand on the forehead and used the other to lift the chin.. Then, she pinched the nose and started giving rescue blows from mouth to mouth... She repeat two rescue blows and thirty compressions for each cycle.. Suddenly, the girl took a deep breath and started coughing.
Pure relief formed on Dr Prem, Dr Amar and Dr Veena's faces... Kalpi checked the pulse of the girl again... The girl opened her eyes... Her body condition stabilised.. Kalpana stood up placing the stethoscope in the pocket of her white coat..
K: " she is fine now.. But pls check her vitals every one hour..", she instructed the young doctors and walked away with Prem..
Pr: " for one second, i thought we lost her..."
K: " we doctors cant give up.. And i believe the girl didn't give up either... To fight for her life...", and she went away..
Prem looked at her retreating form with a small smile..
"Dr Prem.. We need u there at the fifth camp..", a doctor called prem.. And prem went away with the doctor after giving a glance towards kalpana...
Soon, darkness engulfs the sky.. After hours of unstoppable work, the doctors went to have their food leaving the patients' care to some doctors who had dinner earlier.. While kalpana sat alone in her camp..
" There u are!", Dr Pakhi (kalpi's best friend) came there with two plates of food..
Kalpana sighed..
P: " what? U r sighing? Am i really a big disturbance for u?", she asked in fake anger..
K: " no..", and she closed her diary and looked back at pakhi...
Pakhi looked at her with narrowed eyes..
K: " what?"
P: " nothing.. Here, lets have dinner..", she avoided kalpi's question..
K: " pakhi...", she said sternly..
Pakhi sighed and put the plate on the table.. She looked away and looked back at kalpi..
P: " u still haven't forgotten him... Am i right?"
Kalpi stared at an empty face and said,
K: "It doesn't matter... To me...", she muttered softly..
P: " it doesn't matter? Really? Then, why are u not accepting prem's proposal? If u have forgotten him, u would have accepted prem's proposal.. Pls kalpi, move on in ur life.. If that man doesn't hold any place in ur heart, at least give a chance to prem to fill that space in ur heart... Prem loves you so much..."
K: " if he doesn't hold any place in my heart, it doesn't mean that i can give that place to prem.. Do u understand that?", she hissed in anger..
Pakhi's face paled.. She looked down sadly... Kalpi sighed and reached out pakhi's hand which was placed on the table... Pakhi looked up...
K: " pakhi, i didn't mean to get angry on you.. And i very well know that u care about me and want me to be happy.. And whatever u said about prem is correct.. He is a very genuine person with a heart of gold.. And i also very well aware that he loves me.. Truly.. But..."..
P: " but?"
K: " i cant ruin prem's life knowing that i could never give him the love he gives me.. I agree he is a good friend of mine.. But.. But i cant see him at a place above that friendship line.."
P: " why don't u give it a chance?"
K: " I'm already suffering giving chance at once.. I don't want to repeat the same mistake again.. Im not as strong as what I'm seems to be outside pakhi... I too have a heart which is full of emotions.. And i cant take chance to play with those emotions again knowing that it will broken again... And i feel peace in my profession..serving the mankind.. I doesnt need anything else.. And if u r talking about my personal life, there are my family and u my best friend... I need nothing else..", she said and a tear managed to escape without her willingness..
Pakhi tried to change the mood..
P: " ok.. Leave it.. Look here.. I have delicious food.. Hmmm... Im not sure we will be getting these tasty food again after today..so, come lets devour ourselves with these yummy food..", she said licking her lips with her tongue..
K: " I'm not hungry...", she said having no appetite..
P: " i don't want to eat either..", she said angrily pushing the plate away from herself and crossed her hands on her chest..
Kalpi sighed..
K: " fine, I'm eating.. Look...", she said biting the bread..
Soon, they finished their dinner and drifted to sleep in the canopy allocated for them..

A tall fair handsome man opened the door to reveal nothing but emptiness..
" Alvin...", he called out...
A white man in a servant attire came there..
Al: " sammy sir.. U called me?"
S: " yeah... Where is he?"
Al: " in the gym sir..."
S: " ok.. U go...", saying so he headed to the gym..
He opened the door that guides to the indoor gym... He was welcomed by darkness and the continuous sounds of someone punching the punching bag... Sammy sighed and went to switch on the lights..
He switched on the lights to reveal the punching bag torn and the contents were slipping out of it because of continuous hard punches.. Then, he diverted his eyes towards the person who is still punching it.. He was wearing a black vest and soaked with sweat.. He saw his hands were bleeding... Sammy rushed towards him... He could see the boxing gloves on the floor...
S: " gosh it's bleeding..", he muttered in concern..
But the man is of no concern about his pain and his friend's words..
S: " stop it!!", he said holding his shoulder..
But his words seems to fall on deaf ears.. The man shrugged his friend's hand of his shoulder and continued punching the punching bag..
S: " thats enough.. I said stop it.. U r hurting urself..", but the man didn't budge..
Anger rose in sammy..
S: " RAGHAV I SAID ENOUGH... STOP IT DAMN IT!!", he shouted in anger while pulling raghav away from the punching bag..
He made raghav sit on the nearby couch.. Sammy went and picked up the first aid kit.. Then he sat beside raghav and started unwrapping the white cloth around raghav's fists which was currently soaked by blood..
Sammy soaked some clean cotton with iodine and gently applied it to the wounds on raghav's knuckles... He looked at raghav's face whether it hurts or not but all he could see was his friend's eyes shows nothing and staring at an empty space.. There's neither pain nor hurt.. His eyes looked like death of emotions... He sighed and continued applying iodine and bandaged his hands..
After a few seconds of silence,
S: " raghav.. Why are u punishing urself like this?", he asked in worry..
R: " because punishment is what i deserve..."
S: " raghav, it has been a year.. past is past.. Move on man..."
Raghav looked back at his friend with bloodshot eyes...
R: " move on? Move on from what?", he asked furiously..
S: " move on from ur past.. From ur guilt.. Move on from... (He sighed.. And after a long pause)... From her.."
Within a second, raghav grabbed the collar of his friend and clenched his jaws.. Sammy didn't oppose as he knows what his friend is going through.. Raghav closed his eyes to calm himself.. He left sammy's collar and opened his eyes.. His head bowed down.. Sammy touched his shoulder in concern..
S: " i cant see my best friend, my brother suffering like this man.. It hurts..", he said as his heart wrenched seeing raghav in sorrow..
R: " i.. I cant move on.. I cant.. Till i love her...till i don't forget her... till she rule my heart...i cant move on.. And i.. I don't wanna forget.. I deserve this pain.. I deserve to bear this pain till the last breath of my life..", his voice cracked..
S: " everything gonna be alright raghav.. But pls don't punish urself like this.. Mom cant see u like this.."
R: " mom? I am the cause for everyone's sorrows..", he said chuckling sadly thinking about his ill fate..
(Sammy considers raghav's mom, gauri singhania as his own mother as he lost his mother at a very young age)
S: " acha... Chodo.. Tell me, when is ur boxing tournament?"
( Raghav is a boxer and also a successful businessman.. He won the tournament three times in a row)
R: " next week.."
S: " thats great.. After ur tournament, we are going to india.."
R: " india?"
S: " yeah.. U know dad want me to get married.. He already seen a girl for me and is adamant in getting me married.. So, have to go to india.."
Raghav smiled..
R: " u go man.. Im not coming.."
S: " what do u mean by u r not coming.. Oh let me guess.. Are u taking revenge on me for missing ur wedding?", he asked with narrowed eyes..
R: " no yaar.. Its just.."
S: " no ifs or buts.. U r coming with me and thats final...", he said sternly..
R: " ok deal.. I will come with u.. After all my best friend's shaadi.. And I'm not that bad to miss my friend's marriage unlike someone..", he taunted sammy..
Sammy looked at him with wide eyes that he laughed.. Both hugged each other.. All those scenes were observed by a pair of eyes, gauri singhania, ragahv's mom... She wiped the tear slipped from her eyes..
G(to god): " god, pls return my old son back.. Pls give him a chance to rectify his mistake.. Give him back his happiness.. His love..", she prayed...
