Chapter 8R : Ummm partner ...where are we btw ?
Kalpana looked around. There were dense trees on the left & dense on the right , remote concrete road ahead & an equally remote road behind. The only living existence around was Raghav who was looking back at her with a big question mark on his face & a tinch of panic
K : I dont know ...I have never been to this part of the city.
R : You don't know your own god damn city ??? What have you been doing your entire life apart from fighting with people.
K : First thing (counting one with her point finger) I don't fight with people , people wrong me & i just prepone karma for them. Two (continues counting) You were the one driving so you should kept a track of where the car was going ...three
R : If only someone had sat quietly in the car beside & not go all lady-Tarzan on me I would have kept a check on the road ..
K : Oh !!! So now its my mistake ...
R : Ofcourse it is !
He poked her with his finger on the shoulder.
K : I guess someone's forgetting the part where this so-called lady-Tarzan was being stuffed in the car against her will & ...
R : Then someone's also forgetting the part where a tiny little girl couldn't even walk ...
He argued back as he poked her shoulder again. Knocking his hand off with a slap
K : Dont touch me !
He poked again.
R : I will if I want to ...
He said poking her shoulder again. She glared at him. But for unknown reasons she wasn't feeling as angry as she showed she was. If there would have been someone else standing in front then by now she would have beaten the pulp out of him. But in Raghav's case ...she wasn't able to think straight, she didn't know why. How long has she been knowing him , and she felt like she had begun to trust him already. Now that's a record for an insecurity filled Kalpana.
All her facade that was responsible for her terrifying image in college was slowly crumbling ...and maybe thats where the following reaction came from
K : If you touch me ...then ...then...I can touch you back !
This time it was she who poked him on the shoulder. And there started a poking competition... Which ultimately ended in fits of infectious laughters.
The moment was interrupted when Raghav's phone beeped. Yet continuing with the poke game he fetched his phone from his pocket. The moment he saw his caller id ,his expression changed drastically. It became more serious and then a small smile tugged on his lips
R : Excuse me !
As she saw him walk away. She heard nothing after a warm voiced 'Hello' as he now stood faraway
K POV : Aise dur jaane ki kya zaroorat thi ? Not like I'm interested in his talks or something. He could have spoken here also in front of me.
It had been 5 minutes as Kalpana was staring at Raghav stroll around on the road observing every single expression change on his face. She was now sitting on the bonnet of the car with her legs crossed & her chin resting on one of her palms ..
K POV : (narrowing her eyes) Why is he grinning so much ?Could it be a girlfriend ? OK ...so not like I have got anything to do. Why would I ? I mean I have been knowing him for just a week , what he does in his personal life is his lookout. So what if he has helped me a couple of times & lets say the only guy who's stuck to me even after being threatened so many times & speaks to me as a friend ...
She heard him laugh. That made her feel ...she herself didn't know what !!!
K : (yelling) Agar tumhaari socializing ho gayi ho toh can we actually work on getting a way out of here ?
That instantly drew Raghav's attention as he quickly mumbled something on the phone & cut the call.
R : I'm sorry...I just got a bit carried away.
K : Whatever ! Now let's try figuring a way out to get out of here.
(The story belongs to my sister ka time when there was no existence of smart phones & so also Google Maps ...hahahaha...kabhi kabhi lack of technology is a good thing na 😉)
R : Hmmm...lets try driving back so we can see if we recall the way ... We have to get back before it gets too late.
K : We would have already reached halfway by now if people wouldn't have been giggling with their girlfriend !!
She finally said it out hopping off the bonnet & walking towards the car's passenger seat. Literally following her like a lost puppy
R : What ? You thought I was speaking to my girlfriend ? Noo...I wasn't ! I was actually talking to ...
Kalpana heard him trail off as he walked to the other side of the car hastily. Once inside , his face was way more stern.
R : Yes you are right ! I was talking to my girlfriend ...
K : None of my concern ! Now start driving please.
There was an awkward silence in the car for the next hour as they tried getting their way back home. Who could say that these were the very same people ?
Everything was fine , Raghav had finally succeeded to figure out the correct way ...everything was fine until ...
Until ? Until what ? Find it in the next chapter
