Part 2
After Raghav left, Kalpana was all broken and dropped to the floor. She wasn't feeling bad for herself but for her baba. How will he react when he will get to know his rajkumari is nothing but dirt that people want to see under their feet but not on top of the head? She recalled all her baba's words that consider these people as your own but how baba will be able to know that these people will not consider her as their own. She said in her mind, baba, I am the most unluckiest girl in this world who got to know that her husband will never accept her as his wife at the first day of her marriage and doesn't have any shoulder where she can keep her head and cry. She stood up wiping her tears and took her suitcase and left the room. She was in dilemma what to do now. She couldn't leave the house as she didn't want her baba to know about it and couldn't ask anyone about it in this house. Then she went to a nearest store room which was very dirty and not in any situation for living. She thought to spend the night there and later move on to another room. She cleaned the room little bit and spent the night without having any food. Actually no one even cared that there was a new Bahu in this mansion. They considered her only as a life saver of Raghav for six months and after that she will be where she came from.
The next morning Kalpana woke up in the morning then took shower and wore a simple light color saree. She then went to the kitchen and saw a maid preparing breakfast. "May I help you prepare breakfast?" Kalpana said. "I think you should wait until Bade malkin said so as today is your first day in the kitchen and she might tell you to make something special." Maid said. "It's okay, I don't need to wait for Bade malkin," Saying so Kalpana started preparing breakfast as she knew nothing will happen like that.
Everyone came to the dining table for breakfast. Raghav and Samira were sitting next to each other with Vikram and Gauri on the other side. Kalpana came and started serving the food. Raghav even didn't look at her. All his attention was on the food. After testing the food Vikram said, "Wow," "Rakhi (maid's name), you put extra effort to make the breakfast today." Hearing him Rakhi said, "Bade Saab, I didn't make the breakfast today," "Your new bahu made it." Rakhi said showing Kalpana standing beside her. "Very good Kalpana," Vikram said praising, "Your parents gave you good upbringing." Hearing this Kalpana felt good and bowed and touched his feet to take ashirwad." Vikram took out 1000 rupee from his pocket and handed it to Kalpana and said, "Gouri and Raghav you should also give her something as today was her first rosoi." Gauri didn't like Vikram praising Kalpana a lot so Gauri said, "I will give her later as I don't have anything with me now." "What about you Raghav?" Vikram asked looking at Raghav. Hearing him Raghav fumed in anger and got off from the chair with a loud thud and left from there. Seeing this Kalpana lowered her eyes to hide her tears. But Vikram noticed this and said, "Kalpana, you sit, eat with us." "Ji," Saying so Kalpana was about to sit pulling a chair but stopped when Gauri said, "Let us finish first then you and Rakhi eat your breakfast together. "Ji," Kalpana pushed the chair and stood behind and waiting for them to finish.
"Gauri," Vikram said angrily, "If you and your son keep behaving like this, Kalpana will understand the purpose of her bringing here and will leave this house before completing six months." "Don't worry Vikram," Gauri said, "I know this chotey logo ko," she added, "She will never leave this house," "Where will she get this luxurious life style?" She said in her mind, sometimes it is very important to show them their class. I don't want her to take my place. Then Gauri smirked.
After cleaning the dining table Kalpana went to Gauri's room and said, "Ma ji, did you call me?" "Yes," "Take this saree as I don't wear it anymore," "I was about to give it to Rakhi then thought you need it more as your condition is worse than Rakhi." Gauri said pointing to Kalpana's saree evilly. "Don't mind, as I am giving you my old saree." Kalpana took the saree and said, "Thank you ma ji," This is not only a saree for me but it has your ashirwad." "Listen," Gauri said, "Don't call me ma ji, call me Bade Malkin as Rakhi calls me." "Ji Bade Malkin." Saying so Kalpana left from there. And Raghav entered into the room as he was at the corner of the room hearing their conversation from behind. Seeing him Gauri said with victory, "Raghav, didn't I do a good job showing her, her own place?" Hearing her Raghav said, "Mom, I don't care how you will behave with her but I just want her to leave this house as soon as possible." Raghav asked, "Mom, give me the Mehta project file as I need to attend a meeting which is held in Mumbai next week." In the meantime Vikram entered into the room and said, "Good beta." He added, "I want you to handle our Mumbai office while I will handle mills and factories here. You can stay both places. You can work remotely while staying here. I want you to stay here with us more than Mumbai." Hearing him Raghav said in his mind, thanks God as I don't have to see her face when I will stay in Mumbai and I will make sure Samira will be with me.
The next day laundry man came and handed Rakhi over Raghav's clothes. Seeing Kalpana coming toward the entrance Rakhi said handing over Raghav's clothes to Kalpana, "Chotey Malkin," "Please put these cloths in Chotey Saab's cupboard." Kalpana walked to Raghav's room and stopped at the door hesitating thinking if she should enter or not. Then she took all the courage and entered into the room and opened the cupboard and put all his cloths and left from there. After a while Raghav came out from the bath room and opened the cupboard and his eyes fell on the clothes and came out from the room fuming in anger. "Who touched my clothes?" Raghav said shouting. Hearing him Rakhi came out from the kitchen and asked, "Chotey Saab, what happened?" "Who put my cloths in the cupboard?" "Chotey Malkin." Rakhi said. "Chotey Malkin?" Raghav said confused. "Kalpana mamsaab." Hearing the maid Raghav entered into Gauri's room and saw Kalpana messaging Gauri's legs. Raghav walked toward Kalpana and held Kalpana's arm tightly and shouted, "How dare you touch my things," "Didn't I make myself clear not to enter into my room ha?" Raghav's grip was very tight as his nail entered into the skin that caused it to bleed. "Uh." Hearing the sound from Kalpana Raghav looked at his grip on Kalpana's arm then pushed her little bit and came out from the room fuming in anger. All this time Gauri was smiling in her mind watching this. Rakhi was standing near the door and saw this and felt bad for Kalpana and thought, seems like chotey Saab couldn't accept Kalpana memsaab that's why she is staying in the store room. Raghav entered into his room and went on the bed putting both hands on his knees and said frustrated, "I just hate her."
Kalpana was chopping vegetable and sobbing thinking about the incident just happened a while ago. Seeing Rakhi coming to the kitchen Kalpana wiped her eyes. "Chotey Malkin, your baba is on the phone," Rakhi said, "He wants to talk to you. Hearing this, a smile appeared from her face and ran to the living room. "Hello, Baba, how are you?" Kalpana said, "Are you taking medicine on time?" "I am fine beta," Vittal said on the other side of the phone. "How are you beta?" "Is everything alright? Raghav was going out but stopped seeing Kalpana talking on the phone. He stood little far so that he could hear Kalpana's conversation. He thought she will complain about them and hearing her, her baba will come and take her with him. "I am absolutely fine baba," Kalpana answered, "You don't need to worry about me as everyone is taking good care of me," Bade Saab and Bade Malkin love me as their own daughter," Kalpana said wiping her tear." "What about damad ji?" Vittal said, "Is he happy with this marriage as I was so worried about that incident." "Yes baba, your damad ji is also happy with this marriage," Kalpana said, "He had to attend an important call that's why he left from there hurry without touching your feet." "Baba, I am missing you a lot," Kalpana said crying. "I am missing you too." Vittal cut the call. Hearing the conversations Raghav said in his mind angrily, this girl ruined everything. There was a chance for her dad to take his daughter with him.
Everyone was having dinner while Kalpana was serving. Raghav and Samira were sitting interlocking their hands. Kalpana noticed this and was thinking what relation they carry seeing them always close. Raghav was coughing while eating and seeing this Kalpana was about to offer water but stopped seeing him showing her his hand. "Samira, please give me water?" Raghav said while coughing. "Sure," saying so Samira gave him water and then looked at Kalpana and smirked. Raghav got off from the chair without having dinner. Everyone left after dinner. Kalpana was about to eat but stopped thinking, he didn't eat anything. She then washed her hand then filled some containers with rice, meat, sabji and put them in a tray and walked to Raghav's room. She saw Raghav was sitting on the bed resting his head on the dashboard and Samira was sitting beside him. Seeing Kalpana at the door Samira asked, "What do you want?" "I have brought food for him as he didn't eat anything." Kalpana said. "Okay, bring it here." Samira said. Seeing Kalpana hesitating to enter into the room, Samira said, "What happened, can't you hear me, I told you to bring it here." "Can you please take it from me as I need to go to the kitchen?" Kalpana said.
Kalpana was in her room thinking about her baba and crying, Baba, I really miss you. It's been two weeks that I haven't seen you. Rakhi entered into her room and saw her crying. "Chotey malkin." Rakhi called Kalpana by her name. Kalpana wiped her eyes and looked behind. "Missing your baba?" Rakhi asked. Kalpana nodded. "Then why don't you tell Bade Saab that you want to meet your baba?" Rakhi said, "He is the only person who seems to be nice in this house." "Yah, I will ask him tomorrow," Kalpana said, "Actually my baba is sick and I was the only one who was taking care of him." Seeing the bad condition Rakhi asked, "Why don't you move to another room as this room is not any good condition to stay?" "Okay, I will ask bade malkin to arrange a room for me." Kalpana said smiling. "Why do you have to ask Kalpana mam?" "You are a bahu in this family and you have the same priority as bade malkin has." She added, "I know I am a maid and I don't have any right to say anything against these people," "But I really feel bad for you as I can see that these people are not doing right with you since the first day," "You are hesitating to go to Chotey saab's room but that Samira," You have the only right on Chotey Saab but not that Samira memsaab," "You are his wife and that Samira is his friend only," "It is the time to fight for your right or it will be too late Kalpana memsaab." Hearing her Kalpana said in her mind, I wish these people also felt the same for me as Rakhi felt as an outsider."
The next day Kalpana went to Vikram to get permission for meeting her parents and he gave her permission and told her whenever she wants she can meet him. Hearing this Gauri said in her mind, I wish she never comes back.
Seeing Kalpana alone Vittal asked, "Chotey Saab didn't come with you?" "Actually he has some important work that's why couldn't come with me." Kalpana replied. "I wish, I could talk to him once before I die," Vittal said, "I wish I could tell him that he got the world's best girl as his wife." A father could feel his daughter's pain in her eyes. A father could feel his daughter's unspoken words. Vittal said, "Beta, every relation needs time to make it strong. You both are totally opposite but married because God already paired you up before you were born. God already made it for you but you need to work on it to make it strong. You will see lots of ups and downs in your life but don't lose your hope." Hearing this Kalpana hugged Vittal and said, "Thank you baba, I really needed it." Saying so a tear escaped from her eyes.
Raghav went to Mumbai for a week and took Samira with him. They had another mansion in Mumbai as well so they went there to stay. Raghav and Samira decided to stay here in Mumbai after their marriage and for that they would have to convince Vikram. So they decorated Raghav's bedroom as Samira's choice. They put lots of their pictures by the wall and on the side tables in the bedroom and some in other rooms as well. They had lots of fun besides his office work. They did shopping, they went on long drive, and they spent time with their old school friends. Raghav's school friends were still unaware of his marriage with Kalpana. They only knew that Samira was his fianc and were getting married soon.
On the other hand Kalpana was very confused as why Samira has to be with Raghav in this trip. Then she decided to ask Rakhi about their relation. "Rakhi," Kalpana asked, "How does Chotey Saab know about Samira mamsaab?" "I heard they met in USA and since then they are good friends and they know each other since five years." Hearing her Kalpana said in her mind, seeing them so close why do I feel that they are more than just friends. "You know what chotey malkin, I don't like Samira at all. I understand she came from USA but she should understand this is not USA but village. I don't like the way she dresses up and gets close to chotey Saab." Kalpana was only 17 but while fighting with her life she became more matured than her real age. We can say she never even realized when her teens passed and became a matured girl but she can understand Raghav and Samira's close relation.
A week passed like this and Raghav and Samira came back from Mumbai. Before coming back they invited their friends to village as they decided to throw a party after two weeks.
One evening Raghav and Samira were swimming in the indoor swimming pool. Gauri sent Kalpana with juice for them on purposely. Kalpana entered into the pool side and seeing Samira with bikini she was in awe and thought, how can a woman wear this type of cloth with someone else's husband? Seeing Samira coming out from the water Kalpana was about to leave but stopped when Samira called her by her name. Kalpana looked back and said, "Ji." "Can you take my shoe and put it back in my room?" Samira ordered. Hearing this Kalpana remembered Rakhi's words and said, "Samira ji, I am sorry, I can't." Saying so Kalpana was about to leave but stopped when Samira shouted, "What did you say?" "I said I can't." Kalpana replied. Hearing Kalpana Samira said, "I think you forgot who I am?" "Yes, I know who you are," Kalpana said, "You are my husband's friend," "Actually you forgot who I am," "I am your friend's wife." Hearing the noise Raghav came out from the water and asked, "Samira what's wrong?" "See Raghav, what Kalpana said?" Samira complained, "I told her to take my shoes and put it back in my room," "But she denied and showed me my place saying, I am your friend and she is your wife." Hearing her Raghav fumed in anger and shouted, "How dare you talk to Samira like this?" saying so Raghav was about to slap Kalpana and stopped seeing her closed her eyes with fear and said holding her arm tightly, "Do you call yourself my wife?" he added, "Ha, have I ever accepted you as my wife?" Then Raghav released her arm and pushed her back. "Kalpana, let me remind you who you are," Samira said, "staying in this house, your status didn't change," she added, "You are the same and will be the same as who carried shoes for us once. Saying so Raghav and Samira left from there. Kalpana went to her room and started sobbing. She said while crying, "Why do you always behave with me like this?" "Am I that bad that whenever I am in front of you, you realize that I am a curse in your life?" I know you couldn't accept me as your wife and I am not bothering you for that but can't I just expect nice behavior from you just once."
Another two weeks passed like this. Raghav decided to arrange a party for his return from USA after five long years. He invited all his school friends. Guests started coming and the party was running in a full mood. Some of his friends came with their girlfriends and some alone. They were having fun. Some of them were dancing with slow music while others were drinking and gossiping. Kalpana was serving juice and drinks to the guests. Seeing Kalpana Samira dragged Raghav to the dance floor and started dancing very closely. Kalpana looked at them and felt bad seeing them very close.
After a while Raghav came to talk to his few friends who came without girlfriends. Raghav told one of his friends Rocky who was known as a bad boy in school, "Dude, this is the time to settle with someone," He continued, "How many times you been keep changing your girlfriends?" hearing him Rocky said, "I think I found someone but not for permanent," Rocky said looking at someone, "She seems fresh and yummy to eat." "Achcha," Saying so Raghav looked at where Rocky pointed to and saw Kalpana who was wearing a simple salwar suit and serving drinks to the guests. "Tu bhi na." Saying so Raghav left from there.
Kalpana came to Rocky and offered drink. Rocky held Kalpana's hand and said, "I want something else," "Will you give me?" Kalpana found him looking at her with bad intention and excused herself. She was about to leave but stopped as Rocky held her by her arm tightly. "What are you doing?! Please leave me!" Kalpana said struggling to get out of his grip. She looked around to find Raghav for help and she saw him a few feet away. Raghav was talking to one of his friends then his eyes fell on Kalpana who was pleading to Raghav for help to get her out of Rocky's grip. Then his eyes immediately fell on Rocky who just tore Kalpana's sleeve a little bit. Raghav slowly walked toward them and suddenly stopped for less than a second and passed them as if nothing was going on. Then he walked off to Samira. Seeing ignorance from her husband in this situation a tear escaped from Kalpana's eyes. To save herself from Rocky she bit his hand and then ran off.
Kalpana found a corner for herself and started sobbing quietly. All of a sudden her eyes fell on the chandelier swaying slowly which gave her a feeling it was going to fall. Then her eyes immediately fell on Raghav who was directly beneath the chandelier. Without wasting a second she ran across the living room as fast as she could and before the chandelier reached the ground and on top of Raghav Kalpana pushed Raghav aside and injured herself as it fell on Kalpana's leg. Suddenly the room filled with noise and everyone came rushing toward Raghav to see if he was okay. But there was no one near Kalpana who was bleeding and was injured more. While everyone was busy with Raghav there was only one person watching Kalpana who was none other than Raghav. (To Be Continued...)
