Hey! Although I agree with you to an extent, I just want to say that I too am a writer and to reply to this from a writer's perspective, here's what I have to say.

Yeah we write stories and such but once in a while we get these ideas that we just have to pen down. When this happens, our other works are usually put at a standstill because we start to have a writer's block for that particular piece of writing and so end up focussing on the one that's still fresh in our minds. It doesn't mean we've forgotten our old stories, not at all. For a writer, each story is special in its own way and often there are times where writers have to abandon stories either because the story has come to a point where the writer has simply no idea what to do or because the writer has, well for the lack of a better phrase, lost interest in the plot.

Now coming to stories posted on forums, the delay in updates or lack of updates also arises from tight schedules. I know I've struggled with handling a student life, a personal life, a social life, a working life, and a social networking life and because of this many of my stories have had updates that have ranged from 3 days to a 3 months. One of my 3 of my FFs are on a temporary hiatus in which 1 of them I can't find it in my heart to write anymore.
I know I get annoyed too when updates come late or when multiple FFs have begun by the same author, but if you look at it from a writer's perspective, it makes sense to see why some pieces are put on the back burner.

This really wasn't trying to take a dig at you or anything but I just wanted to put forth a writer's perspective because I have been getting complaints of the same by some of my readers. But with that said and done, take care and lots of love.
