There are so many questions on court marriage.. let me clarify- i am hindu who got married to a chirstain guy.. we had both sets of ceremonies done - both Hindu rituals and christain ones...i did not convert as my man was totally against it - he said i want you in my life as you .. no way you change anything ..
WE ALSO HAD A COURT MARRIAGE AS THE LAW DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE ABOVE CEREMONIES AS MARRIAGE..

For court marriage - you need to give an application before 1 month. They put this up in the notice board for a month and if anyone has a concern on the marraige can raise it during that month. After 1 month, you come and sign the documents which states you as husband and wife.. you need 2 witnesses from both sides(groom and bride) and there are NO ceremonies that will happen in court ..no mangalsutra , sindoor blah blah... also let me clarify though you say court marrige - it happens in register office not court

THIS IS FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE AND MY DAD IS A LAWYER!!

Even we had court marriage apart from rituals. And the process is same as you mentioned. But give it to CVs , they can make anything possible

We got married with hindu rituals. And then we went to registrar office and gave few documents. We didnt apply before 1 month. Our marriage hall was very close to registrar office. After the rituals, we directly went there in same bridal clothes and registered our marriage the same day.

you are right. But then, I have not seen one Indian show or movie which shows correct legal procedure!!!The type of marriage or court marriage you are mentioning comes under Special Marriage Act,1954. there is another kind of marriage, mostly for couples in love, and who want to conduct secret marriage. I guess, if I am not wrong, thats "Arya Samaj Marriage", and this marriage doesn't take much time as per my limited knowledge! and they even issue marriage certificate and is perfectly valid!

but then, thats different from court marriage! Even a film like Jolly LL.B, which was widely appreciated had many legal flaws. So I guess, its useless to compare legal procedures show in our films and shows with the real laws.
