Namastey Saathiyo!😎
"You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves."(Abraham Lincoln)
The sentences above correspond very well to Kalpana and Raghav's situation as it stands. Kalpana ever since she came into this world had a great weight put on her shoulder, in fact we can even go as far as saying, the only reason she was brought on this earth was to fulfil her mother's dream; and that has been her reality ever since and will continue to be her reality until she fulfills it. She has every right to feel the way she does in reference to people higher up the status ladder. WHY? Because everything she has seen with her eyes has pointed towards just that. Two women are humiliated when they go to make a complaint for the simple fact that they come from a chawl. A girl who worked day and night to pass her exams had her results thrown out because one rich lady had the money to make it happen. A girl, who has experienced nothing but sadness from a very tender age, keeps having obstacles thrown her way to make her mother feel like she is not capable of achieving her dream. So this division talk for me personally is well driven from Kalpi's perspective. However, she needs to understand that society is not there to make things easier for those less able to acquire a luxurious lifestyle. She needs to understand that not all rich people have corrupted minds, and some are not born with a silver spoon in their mouth, and instead work their arses off to strive for such lifestyle, like she is doing herself currently. I understand why she does not want to reciprocate Raghav's feelings, and that it's easier for her to hide behind this division talks. She wants to become rich but has problem with rich people? Per her logic, she too would become a silly brat when she manages to fulfill her mother's dream? She needs to sit on her bench and think hard about his arguments and stance.
Raghav said that his richness did not come to him on a plate, instead he had to work hard for it, and rightly so with his motivation being the destruction of the Kapoor household. So is it right for Kalpi to always use this against him? I do not blame Raghav for not understanding Kalpi's stance, because the way Kalpi is talking, its suggesting that being rich is a sin committed by Raghav and thus ensuring these two can never become one. Raghav is no saint here! He has an equally important role to play in making Kalpi think the rich are indeed bad-ass! He has insulted her on being poor numerous times in the past, and whilst his intention might not have been to damper her spirit that is precisely what it did. But the way he depicted his feelings today deserved a round of applause. What we got to understand and I hope the creative depict this to us is that, status is of no relevance. It is the way one conducts themselves that is important. That police officer is no maharaja, in fact he probably lives in a chawl too, but behind that uniform he felt powerful enough to insult. (A complaint here is, why do the makers think a couple of English words are meant to depict intelligence? Kalpi could have shown that officer his aukat by using shubh hindi and the relevant law to back up her point. Why was her education not given importance in that scene? Why make her rely on Raghav and then have her blast him later on?)
Raghav cannot expect Kalpi to be happy with him constantly saving her. In fact it feels like a suffocation, She is striving for independence, and whilst it is ok for him to help her once in a while, he ought to take a couple of steps back and say, you know what, go and help yourself, like he did when she faced those youngsters all by herself. We cannot forgive a murderer just because of his family, now can we? Likewise we cannot forgive a man who abuses his power for his own garmi, so to speak. He should have thought of the consequences. As any normal individual, I too would have taken such a step if I was insulted by an officer in that manner, or if I had witnessed someone else be insulted in that manner, regardless of my status.
What does Kalpi truly want? She will not say yes to Raghav because right now her main priority is to fulfill her mother's dream. So why does she not tell him this instead of indulging in a discussion that is doing nothing but serving as a headache to Raghav. Why not be honest? Likewise here with Raghav, why do you think just because you decided you love her, she needs to reciprocate? Yeh kaisa contract hai bhai? 😆
To Ragna- they need to have this embedded on their forehead
"He who can have patience can have what he will..."
(hope you were not bored! I will forgive all who do not read this long essay)😆😆
