Today the forefront of the episode was our favourite jodi, albeit separately. At one end we have Kalpi's victory and success being celebrated, and on the other we see more glimpses of the Raghav that is scared, that is scarred.
Today was Kalpi's day, a celebration in her honour and hard work. But Kalpi doesn't care for awards, all she cares for is the little attention her mother can give her. Just a smile from her, or a hug, something that is acknowledgement of what Kalpi has done. That she has saved not only her family, but every family in that chawl from being homeless. But the one person Kalpi wanted at the celebration wasn't there. However I will say that I loved that that woman awarded Kalpi, I think it made the sentiment and gratitude in the hearts of the chawl people even that more genuine. They have told her she is one of them but that she can do just about anything she puts her heart and mind too. They have inspired her.
I am not blaming Kamla, but then at the same time I am. Pakhi can be as ziddi, or hard headed she wants to be, but it makes no sense for Kamla to say yes to her every single time. I know that Kamla is a good person, she has such a clean heart and always the best intentions, however that does not make her a good mother. I know that for Kamla helping others comes first, but then again so does everything Pakhi says. You have to beg the question that fine, Kamla has essentially raised Pakhi as her own and will in accordance love her as her own, but with every mother you divide your time and attention equally between your kids, at the very least you try too. Kalpi's comment of her mother not coming to the hostel even ONCE, was heart breaking? What mother who loves her child as much as Kamla claims to, would not at the very least ONCE in however many years go and see her child, who misses her who yearns for her?! As a good person Kamla sees the good in every one, but as a mother she refuses to put her foot down when it comes to Pakhi. "No Pakhi I cannot come because I need to be here for Kalpi." Is that truly so hard to say? I should think not, but I digress. It is also telling that all the love lost on Kamla's part is then twice fold given to Kalpi from Vitthal. That man is such a great father and such a prime example of a good family man, it always makes me cry how hard he tries for Kalpi, it truly does. I love his relationship with his children, especially Kalpi.
On the other hand we have Raghav, who at the mention of Kamla bai, turns into lit candle wax, and melts almost immediately. You see his heart reach out and want to bring her in, want to talk to her and tell her of all the things he's accomplished because of her. He owes his life to her, and yet he can't bring himself to place her in his life because he can't lose her. Raghav is so convinced that anything or anyone he cares about will eventually end up leaving him, and for the first time we hear him say it and we realize 'well that's why he behaves the way he does'. Raghav's self defence mechanism is behaving rudely and harshly because he has no room for getting attached to anyone in his life. He was the scared little boy again today and it was heart wrenching to see how much Raghav has convinced himself to not love anyone again, because he's afraid of loss.
And now we're at a crossroads aren't we? How will a man who is too afraid to love convince the woman who craves love and is always surprised when she is given it, that she is and will always be his top priority? Raghav has loved but he's also seen so much loss, it will take a lot of patience and understanding for him to see that Kalpi will not be going anywhere, that she will be with him through thick and thin. Will Raghav continue to push her away, even when he finds himself falling hard and fast for her? Will Raghav finally stand up to himself and take charge of his inner battle? Will he turn away from his fear and finally take the risk of letting someone in again? So many questions, and not enough RagNa scenes, but alas we have Monday and I shall hope for a scene between these two!
