NOTE 1: Please don't bother reading if you can't handle an opinion that is not on the lines of singing praises about how "OSSUM" the show is.

NOTE 2: I would think that the Moderators of this forum are open minded enough to understand that this is a DISCUSSION FORUM and criticism can't be curtailed, if not, I just feel for the sorry state of I-F and would ask you to go ahead and close the topic!

NOTE 3: THIS IS NOT A V-M BASHING TOPIC AND MY INTENTION IS NOT TO INSTIGATE A V-M v/s V-J FIGHT HERE!

I have been watching this show on and off for a while (read when I have nothing better to do) so I am not really a fan so I usually don't care for most of the stuff that happens and it does not really affect me as it affects the fans. There are times when this show entertains me somewhat, so anyways the reason why I am even bothering to catch this show once in a while is because I came across posts by my some of my forum friends who used to follow it earlier, they apparently liked Virat-Manvi and one of my friends (Sid) was saying that they have interesting chemistry and I incidentally happened to catch a scene where Virat murmurs to Manvi "Beta, dadaji ke rule no. 128 ke hisaab se cake khaaney ke liye hota hai, mooh pe lagaaney ke liye nahin", (I might be paraphrasing that) which amused me. Then their "Veeru Uncle - Aunty ji" moments here and there had entertained me sometimes. So I thought I will give this show a shot whenever I manage to find some time on my hands, because honestly it is extremely difficult to sit through this show with patience considering how much it is DRAGGED 🥱. I always knew, that coming from a PH that made "EPIC" shows like CMG the briefly amusing V-M would eventually spiral downwards and if yesterday's episode was anything to go by, my guess was spot on! The icing on the cake, however, was the recent article which I read about the change of the writer, I hear the great writer who wrote HAWT and PASS-ON-ATE scenes for "mind blowing" shows like Geet, DMG, MJHT is going to handle this show now, especially V-M , no wonder then it all looks so ridiculous now that even a non-fan like me can sense that V-M have totally gone for a toss and are heading the regular trip-catch, pallu flying, eye locking, cheesy, hallucinating, ways of "romaaance" 'coz let's face it - that is ALL these Star-One brigade writers can ever manage. They CANNOT think beyond making "fans" hyperventilate and make them "faint - blush- die and go to heaven" routine. I just feel bad for the fans of this couple, good luck guys, my hunch is that a lot of you will be mega pissed off very soon! Now coming to the show overall, pretty soon the family members on both sides would vanish into thin air and you will get to see random nautanki with the brothers and sisters peppered with the usual "ZOMG I AM DEAD" reaction inducing scenes for the 'positive fans' 😃 . Coming to Manvi's cancer (which is kind of my motivation to start this topic to begin with), hain?! What cancer? Don't you all know that it is easily curable? Don't you know that currently the most important thing in her life is to patch up Virat-Maya and fight with Virat? So what if she is dying of cancer, eh? Seriously, WHAT THE HELL?!!! I could not care for other stuff but when you show something like CANCER, then at least treat it with sensitivity! Do these guys even KNOW how devastating something like a cancer can be to people who have been diagnosed with it and their family and others around them? I know a family where the dad passed away due to cancer, the couple had three children, the youngest was a 2 year old son who could barely understand what was happening and he will never even know how his father was like because he passed away due to this deadly disease even before he reached a stage where he could UNDERSTAND what father's love is all about, I know how much it upset us when we saw that kid play innocently without being aware of the disaster that was in the offing for his family. I saw that uncle when he came to our house when he was undergoing chemotherapy, he had become frail and was barely able to speak! And very recently, my father's cousin who was a very jovial and fun loving person fell prey to this deadly disease and passed away- I had just met him a couple of months before that and he looked fine and I even remember laughing my head off at his absolutely witty manner of speaking and suddenly he is no more, my dad saw him at the hospital and was very upset because he had become so drained and thin due to the chemo, he was a contrast from the jest filled person he was. Do these makers even REALIZE the seriousness of this illness? Do they want to play with an illness as serious as cancer for a freaking TV SHOW?!!!! Aren't they satisfied enough with turning hospitals and doctors into absolute clowns? If all they wanted to do was show romance and some sentimental drama here and there, they could have done it without bringing cancer into the picture! Even though the show does not affect me much otherwise, THIS is something which I cannot tolerate!

P.S : Please feel free to hit the report button, that is all I expect from these type of forums anyway, although I will be pleasantly surprised if my expectations are not met and admit that I-F has finally become an ACTUAL discussion forum where people are open minded enough to respect an adverse opinion!

P.P.S: And those who are going to come up with defensive answers like "if you don't like the show, don't watch it" or "please be patient, I am sure you will like the show" or "they did show Manvi's hair falling and her first chemo" or anything of the like, let me tell you first of all that I PAY my cable/internet connection bill, it is MY TV/PC, MY account on I-F and I have AS MUCH right to write what I feel as any of you do, since I am not using offensive language and also, my post is little about this show and more about its horrifying insensitivity towards cancer.

I agree with your opinion even tho I'm a VirMan Fan. The song was waaay to cheesy for the couple. I know the writer will kind of mess up the story. DMG became A flop In the end. I loved the show. But it got to much. My brother had cancer. It was nothing like that. They made It real when her hair came out. But the ilness can't come & go whenever it likes. I wish best luck for the couple. & Its Romance scenes.

The writers forgot the plot about the sisters. Not even a single 3 minute Conversation In the whole 22 minute show. I think they have'nt learnt after DMG. The can't even look at the proper show's couple/JM.

& Making Virat's character Spoilt. Waaay to gooo. I'm hoping to see his character baack. Or I am having no expectations for the show. & the part where he falls in love with M in seconds. I'm not even going to start.

P.s amazing post.

LMAO, don't you think I am aware of that? And if I know I-F well, this topic should get closed very soon 😉. My "NOTES" and "PS's" should have conveyed that I am expecting that anyway LOL

Geez tell me about that Kavya! At one point (read: long long ago...when the show started) I too used to "like" VM...especially for their bickering and Nia's portrayal of Manvi as well as behna parts. But later they started to inject too much of melodrama in behna scenes and ummm VM sort of fizzed out. Then, i thought that they might jump back with the cancer track...may be. But they made a ridiculous joke out of such a serious condition. No one's asking for them to go all technical and medically correct on that but don't freaking "romanticize" or "fantasize" the condition! It can't be justified with just those crying scenes and what not. And to top the randomness, they introduced the ex-gf track and Manvi wasting her time trying to patch them up. WTH? If the writers were smart enough, they would have used the "cancer" issue as the roadblock in VM's story and not the oh-so-typical ex-gf. Bleh.
I haven't even seen any episode since the wedding got done and don't even ever plan to waste my time on such LOWE stuff. What's the point of shifting focus from the original plot to the typical LOWE stories? Why can't love stories be woven along with the overarching theme of the show? Gaah. Star plus is the new star one. 😳

For ur post - 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

Wht u will get - 😡😡😡

And the future probably will be - 🤢🤢🤢

Just went thru all of it yesterday...hence my stupid comment above !

On a very serious note -

I hv no comments on Virman - not their fan ...nd dun wanna comment!

Regarding manvi cancer track - Since the day the Yuvi cancer part was into the show i hated the whole cancer track...just lost sympathy...coz CVs according to me made a mockery of Yuvi by mentioning tht on a fictional character.
Secondly...i am sure people are gonna say..tht they have showed hair falling...nd her falling to asleep scenes...but thts just not all abt chemo...thts wht the lay man knows...chemo is a very difficult nd harsh treatment...with a lot of pain associated to it. Long back Cvs had told us tht they have a doc on set nd know how to handle this cancer nd i was really hopeful they will...but now i have realized...they came up with DMG...where docs nd interns were dancing around...so obvioulsy i cn understand the caliber of the doc they have. We are not telling themm to go into deep details...but please gv sum respect to it.

Once again brilliant post...i really hope people read ur post with an open nd relaxed mind...coz its very true :)

Disclaimer : this is my opinion...if it hurts anyone i am sorry...but its MY OPINION!!!

For the writers, cancer is a matter of convenience. The symptoms come and go, then suddenly you see the cancer sufferer wake up with the most amazing glow on her face! It was beautifully shot no doubt but it shocked me to see Manvi wake up without no second thought about her illness :\ Before anyone jumps on me how she need not be depressed all the time, well I agree she doesn't but show some realism at least. That show was all about making Manvi look extra beautiful because she was texing her partner! I'm not a VirMan fan, though I too enjoyed their banters a lot in the beginning but personally if I was a hardcore fan of theirs then I would be worried seeing what they showed yesterday with the song sequence because that is NOT Virat and Manvi at all. That was a DMG/MJHT hangover dripping in to EHM! For now the theme of the show has gone out of the window anyway and I think I've complained about it enough. How big producers like cinevistas continuously fall prey to online demands shocks me. This is STAR PLUS for goodness sake not the NOW CLOSED DOWN channel Star One!!!!

Awesome post as always, Kavya!

Ab Sitara Ek khatam ho gaya hai toh bechare us channel ke writers ab SP pe hi aayenge...aur usi level ka stuff likhenge bhi...lol

Chalo I'll tell you seriously what the problems with this show are...and yeah advance warning to easily hurted aatmaas...please ignore this post.

I used to watch this show...infact I remember interacting with Sid in the forum in the early days cuz I did like VM initially and I loved the bond b/w the sisters...but the show went off-track very quickly...and it became VERY apparent with time that Mr. Virat cannot act...Nia is fantabulous but both her and Virat are just not cut out for a conventional love story...so they were turned into random clowns who just act LOUDLY in this show for "comic relief" ...yeh sab main tolerate bhi kar leti if the actual story had any substance to it...which it does not at all.

Initially VM had this natural bindaas vibe to them...like some of the scenes you pointed out...and it worked well for the characters...the actors seemed to naturally fit it too...but with time the story didn't evolve...it just ended up getting slapstick and TOO ...in punjabi we say khilaara pauna...all over the place types I guess...right now if I happen to catch a scene on and off and see their "partner" talks it again seems random to me cuz I don't think there was any believable evolution in their relationship...maybe cuz the acting is somewhat stilted especially from Virat's side...and now they are in "lowe"...but I don't really see any change in expression from Virat's side😆...the actor is TOO casual about his "acting"...so it's not convincing in my opinion.

I dunno anything about the cancer track cuz I haven't watched those scenes...lol...but there is complete lack of conviction in this script anyways...nothing compelling about it to make the viewers invested in the story or characters.

Oh yes, that girl plays the role of Manvi really well but what is the point, this show is so blah as it is and now they roped in mahaan writers who wrote "lowe stories" for shows like CMG, MJM so you know pretty soon her sole purpose in life would be getting cornered by Virat who would be pawing at her face at every opportunity he gets and staring at her or whatever 🥱

But later they started to inject too much of melodrama in behna scenes and ummm VM sort of fizzed out. Then, i thought that they might jump back with the cancer track...may be. I know what you mean! Seriously, they can do anything they want to show romance like it happens in the other "ossum" show on this channel. But sidelining cancer treatment for romance, that is just the LOWEST OF LOWS these SO writers can possibly stoop to!

And to top the randomness, they introduced the ex-gf track and Manvi wasting her time trying to patch them up. WTH? If the writers were smart enough, they would have used the "cancer" issue as the roadblock in VM's story and not the oh-so-typical ex-gf. Bleh.

Aww Amy, you expected that kind of maturity from THIS PH?! I was already shocked that V-M's relation was built on friendship and their casual camaraderie rather than than eye locks and "hawt" scenes, it would have been blasphemous to even THINK that these "creatives" would come up with a fresh concept to show their story so I was just counting down to the time when they would start acting super cheesy and ridiculous which has already begun with yesterday's episode as I had correctly estimated *smug muh*.

Well I don't know what happened in the past as I have been watching it here and there only for the last few months. Dude, these people just make the audience believe that there is a PLOT in the initial days of the show and then it will all be about catering to the requests of fan bases. "Minor" things like plot, consistency, characterization just fly out of the window! 😛

Gaah. Star plus is the new star one. 😳
