"Hey Chelsia! Still living on Starbucks?" Virat asked resting his arms on Chelsia Stanley's desk.
"You know me so well Virat! How do you manage to live through this life smiling like that?" Chelsia laughed at him, taking a sip of her coffee.
"It's called talent baby!" He winked at her and started walking towards his cabin. He greeted others with a shake of head and some with a fist-punch. As he was about to push open the glass door to his cabin, Steven Cobs called out to him.
"She is coming today. She will join you in your cabin for today, because apparantly she doesn't want to start using her cabin on Saturdays! No idea what is with that but anyways, she will be here at about 9:30!" Steve said. Virat's eyebrow shot up - the trademark eyebrow.
"The girl who Jay quoted to be a 'Genius', is actually superstitious?" Virat asked. Steven shrugged.
"Apparently, she is." He replied. "When did you come back from Berlin?"
"Last night. Turned in at Switzerland." Virat replied. He smiled at Kristie sitting behind Steven. She smiled back and batted her eyelashes. Virat smirked and turned to go again. But stopped and turned around again. "Didn't you go to Chicago? I thought you were on LR4!"
"Yeah! Sophie, I and Josh! We came back two days ago. I Turned in at Florida." He smiled. Virat raised his eyebrow at him again. "He is being held in Malaysia." Steven grinned. Virat gave him a hug.
"Congratulations dude!" Virat said before he finally entered his cabin. The smell of Orchids welcomed him in. He shook his head. "Not those flowers again!" He said exasperatedly. Aunt Lucy would leave orchids in his room every single morning. Virat despises orchids! He specially hates the color. He has been working in this cabin for a year, and out of those 12 months, for more than 7 months, he was somewhere out of the London. The dark red and white colors had been his friends since forever. He walked towards the glass wall and looked over the city. It was beautiful today. Ever since he woke up this morning, he has been having one of his best days. He checked his watch. It was 9:18. He had twelve munites before the superstitious-genius arrives. He walked out of his cabin again, to go make himself some Coke.
"Sunset Station in Las Vegas. Stephanie Street. Code 7678. Copy that." He heard Ginia Fay talk on the phone. On the other side he could hear the feverish typing of Jack MCole, the computer geek. The noise of pencil working from somewhere else. Papers being flipped. He entered the cabin of that had the initials KB on it. Opening the door half-way he looked around for Kevin Bill.
"Hey nerd!" He greeted to which the guy working with little wires on a mother-board winced, later smiled.
"I see, the Prince is back!" Kevin replied looking at Virat. "Come up, I am going to show you something amazing." He signaled him to come follow him.
"Wait! I will be back. The new girl Jay mentioned two weeks ago is coming in 10 minutes. I will be back after I am done with her." Virat replied hastily.
"Okay! I will be dine with this by than. Have fun!" Kevin smiled and Virat walked away. He got his Coke from the winding machine and was about to walk back when he heard some noise from around the corner.
"No Di! Mein thik hu! Itni si baat pe itna hyper kyun ho rahi ho? Take a chill pill Seorita!" There was a pause. Virat opened his Coke and took a sip, but didn't move. He was curious to know what the Indian superstitious-genius was. "Nahi di! Aap jao ab! Mein office pahuch gayi hu. Nahi di! Abhi tak toh nahi mili usse. Aap phone rakhogi toh mein jaaungi na? Chalo ab bye!" When he heard no more he was sure she had hanged up. He moved forward to greet her but instead he was slammed into someone. "What the hell? Shit! Laga di mere din ki vaat! Chep kahi ka! Jesus Christ!"
"What?" Virat exclaimed looking at his leather jacket being soaked with Coke.
"Right! I said you ruined my day you duffer!" She said. They finally looked up and looked at each other. It was no fairy tale. It was no filmy crap. They didn't see stars in each other's eyes. They didn't see heaven either. All they saw was anger.
"How dare you call me duffer?" He said pointing his index finger at her. In return she poked her finger in his chest. Virat looked at her finger on his chest and looked up when he heard her voice.
"Dare is my middle name boy!"
"You-"
"Manvi, Manvi Chaudri."
"Whatever that is! You don't call me that!" He said. Manvi rolled her eyes and sighed. She was about to say something when she noticed the digital clock behind Virat. He followed her gaze and saw the number 9:27 inscribed in neon behind the thick glass. He looked back at her shocked face and smirked taking another sip of his Coke.
"Oh freak! Iss Kamine ki wajah se mein late ho jaungi. She grunted and was about to walk away, but turned back again. She snathced the can out of his hand, took a sip of it and walked away. Leaving the 'boy' looking at his can as if it had life in it.
"Manvi-Manvi Chaudri! Bandariya, but enthralling!" He whispered into the vaccum.
Coke made her hyper! She needed only a sip to recharge herself. It was like getting drunk. Fighting with that Chep had gotten her off-track. Taking a sip out is his Coke had pushed her back into her Manvi mode. Manvi happily walked through the office hall looking to her left and her right. Her captivating smile forcing everybody to smile back at her.
