I too agree with you that Akash is a plant in the Goenka's employ on Durga's instruction.

And this photo he shows Shakshi is to gain her confidence because I am sure Durga has already planned a good excuse beforehand.

Shakshi has to believe that Akash is loyal to her and giving her this clue is his way to show that he is getting good info for her.
