Sh angrily: Sumo I told you that I am not ready for kids now. I don't want that responsibility on my shoulder now. Why were you not more careful? I thought you were having your contraceptives and that is why I did not take any precaution. If I had known that you would be careless, I would have done the needful. Why are you always like this Sumo? Meri feelings ki koi kathar nahi... what I feel does not matter to you at all? You have not changed at all. You were like this when you were 16 and now at 26 also you are the same.
He walks out of the house in anger. Sumo is crying...
It is late in the evening and Shravan has not returned home. Sumo is worried sick. He does not answer his mobile also. He sends her a message saying that he needs time to digest this fact and will return home late.
Sumo is happy that atleast he is safe. He returns home late at night. He finds her asleep on the living room sofa waiting for him. He thinks to herself: I am sorry Sumo for yelling at you. But what to do, I don't want to take the risk of losing you. Please forgive me. He wakes her up.
Sh: Sumo uto... Did you eat?
Su: Not yet.
Sh: Kya Sumo aise halath me you should not be hungry na..come lets eat.
Sumo is at peace thinking that Shravan is back to his normal self.
Sh: Sumo I have fixed an appointment with Dr.Khan for tomorrow 3 pm. Lets go together.
Next day
Sh: Sumo I am running a little late. I shall meet you at the doctor's clinic directly. You please ask the driver to bring you to the clinic. Please don't drive yourself. We shall come back home together.
Sumo reaches the clinic first. She goes to see the doctor. The doctor does her check up and prescribes her the usual medicines and diet for pregnancy.
Dr: Mrs. Suman I think you are aware of your medical condition. In spite of me warning Mr. Malhotra not to take a chance of you becoming pregnant, you have become pregnant.
Su: What are you saying doctor? I am not aware of anything.
Dr: I had told Mr.Malhotra that your uterus is weak and cannot withstand pregnancy. There is a 50-50 risk during childbirth. But now that you are pregnant you need to be extra careful. Please do not be careless about any abnormal feeling. Don't hesitate to come to me even if you are feeling slightly uncomfortable. And from your sixth month onwards you have to be on bed rest till your delivery. I hope I am clear Mrs.Suman.
Su: Yes Doctor thank you.
Dr: Where is your husband? I thought he will be here with you.
Su: Yes doctor, he is on his way from office. I happened to come here early. Thank you doctor. I shall wait for him .
Shravan comes rushing to the clinic. Sumo come lets see the doctor.
Su: Shravan I have already met her. come lets go home.
Both reach home. She goes straight upstairs to their room. Shravan finds her behavior strange. Is she upset because I shouted at her yesterday. She was very happy when she shared the news with me. I spoilt everything. But what to do Sumo, you are precious to me, I cannot afford to lose you.
He goes to their room with two cups of hot coffee.
He finds her standing looking out of the window.
Sh: Sumo what happened? What did the doctor say? You were silent in the car as well while coming back. Hua kya hai?
He comes near her and places his hand on her shoulder. Sumo turns and hugs him tightly and starts crying.
Sh: Sumo what happened? Why are you crying? Are you okay? What did the doctor say? Is your health okay? Stop crying now and tell me what's wrong. Sumo...
Su: Shravan why didn't you tell me the truth about my medical condition that there is a risk if I conceive? That is why you were postponing it right, why did you take the blame on yourself Shravan.
Sh: Sumo, stop crying. You are everything for me, I cannot take even the slightest chance which might cause any danger to you. That is why I did not want kids. I know you love kids sumo and I also love kids but not at your cost. No way...you are way more precious to me.
Su: what have I done to have you in my life Shravan? I love you, love you beyond any words could ever convey. Please promise me that you will be my life partner in how many ever births we may ever have.
Sh: Sumo, bas karo.. stop crying. Of course I will always be with you. Don't worry nobody or nothing can separate us.
They convey the news to the family the next day. Everyone is ecstatic. Sumo and Shravan tell everybody about Sumo's medical condition so that everybody is aware.
Months pass by. Sumo is on bedrest from her sixth month of pregnancy. Although she finds it very difficult to lie without doing anything, she follows it for Shravan and the little one's sake. Shravan takes care of her fulfilling all her desires and wishes. He takes off 15 days before her delivery date and is always by her side. One day, early morning she wakes up Shravan.
Su: Shravan wake up I think we have to go to the hospital. I am not feeling good. She screams in pain.
Shravan gets up and calls Pushkar to take the car. He carries her and sits with her on the back seat and Pushkar drives them to the hospital. She keeps screaming in pain in the car.
Sh: Sumo please jaan, hold on we are almost there. The hospital is round the corner.
Su: Shravan it is becoming unbearable. I am feeling breathless.
Sh: Sumo thum fighter ho na...hold on sweetheart.
Su: Shravan hamara baby...and she becomes unconscious.
Shravan rushes into the hospital carrying an unconscious sumo in his hands. She is rushed into the operation theatre.
Dr Khan and a team of doctors rush inside the OT.
Dr.Khan comes out and asks Shravan to sign a form. Mr.Malhotra we shall try our level best to save both the lives, but since you know her medical condition I cannot guarantee anything. Please pray for the best.
Although Shravan knows this, he was hoping that may be a miracle would happen and his Sumo would not have any complications. But that was not to be. He is flabbergasted.
