A Shraman TS : Illusion to Reality

Shravan and Sumo get married in the court. A formal bidaai happens for her from Tiwari killa and she is welcomed into Malhotra mansion with all the grihapravesh rituals. Lalaji, Pushkar, Varun, Kamini and Vandy make fun of them and encourage Shravan to carry her bridal style to their room. All except Ramnath are enjoying the moment. Ramnath is very unhappy and manages to put a fake smile on his face. Shravan notices that his father is not happy about this. Agreeing to all their compulsion he carries Sumo bridal style to their room. They get inside their room and he drops her down. He finds the room beautifully decorated with candles and flowers. The bed is also decorated beautifully with flowers in a heart shape. He looks at all these. He goes to the cupboard, picks up a change of clothes, goes to the bathroom and freshens up and changes into night clothes. He comes out and finds Sumo sitting on the sofa.

Sh: Suman I married you only for Papa's guru dakshina for nanaji. I am least interested in all this. We shall be a couple only outside this room. Inside this room we are not even friends. You lead your life and I will lead mine. Don't expect anything at all from me. And he walks out of the room.

Sumo is flabbergasted. Although she knew that the equation between both of them had gone downhill she was hoping that she can work on it, become friends first and then move on to become lovers and a couple later. She is shocked. She is in tears.

Su: Why did you do this Nanu? Wish you had not put this question to us. We would have continued our different lives instead of getting into this unwanted relationship. I don't know what to do, how do I set things right. She changes into night clothes and cries herself to sleep.

Shravan goes to his father's room. He finds Ramnath sitting in deep thought.

Sh: Papa aap abhi tak soye nahi? I thought you would have slept by now.

Ra: How can I sleep Shravan? Why did you do this? Why did you get married to her after all that I told you about her?

Sh: Papa I married her only for your sake. I know that Nanaji asked gurudakshina from you and I also know that you were not able to tell me about this and you could not also refuse nanaji. Don't worry Papa. I am so happy that I could do this for you. After all that you have done for me, this is just a small thing. I have told you even earlier that you are everything for me Papa and that nobody can come in between us. Please sleep. Don't get tensed. I am fine and will be fine. Good night.

Ra: okay beta if you say so. Good night.

Shravan leaves.

The next morning the family sits for breakfast.

Kamini: Today is Suman's first rasoi. All of you have to gift her something. So be prepared. She will come now.

Suman comes there with her signature dish Moong dal ka halwa. She serves it to everybody. All of them are praising her cooking skills except the father and the son. When she comes to serve Shravan he refuses it. He says he is putting on weight and has decided to stop eating sweets. Suman gets upset. But she does not show it on her face. she moves on and serves it to Ramnath. Shravan leaves the breakfast table saying he is going to office. Ramnath also follows suit. He does not say anything at all and leaves. All the others gift something or the other to Suman. After breakfast she goes to their room.

Su: Shravan has our relationship deteriorated so much that you wont eat your favourite halwa. I made it especially for you. I thought we can make a fresh start and hence cooked halwa for you. What to do?

In the office Ramnath calls Shravan to discuss on a case. After the discussion

Ra: Shravan why did you leave the breakfast table like that? You should have tasted that sweet. It is Suman's first cooking as a bahu of Malhotras and you should not have refused.

Sh: Papa please - I have already told you why I married her. She is nothing more than a person who happens to live in our house that is all. She is not even a guest, because we entertain guests only if we like them. I don't even want to look at her face but am doing this for you and for Nanaji. I respect both of you a lot. Seriously, getting married to her does not change anything at all. You don't worry about me.

A week passes by and life goes on as usual. Suman is determined to try her level best to get her best friend back. But Shravan is stubborn and does not even spare a glance at her.

One day Ramnath is in his room and is thinking to himself.

When Shravan married Suman, I was worried that I might lose my son and Suman might fill his ears. But I am happy that Shravan has not been influenced by her. I am so proud of my son. But I cannot sit quiet. I need to make sure that Shravan stays so. I need to do something by which Shravan can never accept her but at the same time make sure that Tiwariji and his family do not get hurt by this. Because I have only issues with Suman and not with my guru Tiwariji. What to do? Shall I take Kamini's help? After all she is clever in such issues..
