The couple had been sent up to bed early. He had settled on to his side of the bed early enough.
He lay there hugging a pillow, as he watched her wind up her night routine. She had just finished her bath, and was drying her hair. She had chosen a simple cotton sleeveless nightdress in light pink for tonight.
Suman was very particular about what she wore tonight. If she could hide herself in a long tee and pajama, she would. That was her most comfortable wear if she had to share a room with a guy, even if that guy was her best friend turned husband! But that would be too obvious!
She was simply not up for the bold, silky nighties her maami had sent over as she was not supposed to feel out of place among the fashionable Malhotras! This pink one with light embroidery on the neck had been added to her collection barely 3 months back. It was pretty nice and she felt like a girl in it.
She was acutely aware of Shravan's eyes on her. And she was in no position anymore to taunt him for staring at her. The guy had every right to stare at his wife...Just that...
OK. She didn't feel prepared at all. Their marriage had happened too fast and there had been too many issues between them that this concept of a first night hadn't really sunk into her. But today, the way Shravan had looked at her all the time at dinner with a light smile playing on his lips had excited her.
She was nervous too. She had no idea how he was going to go about this and...she didn't want to be rushed into this. But she wouldn't be able to deny him anything at all tonight. Hell! If only she could read his thoughts!
She looked at him. He looked so charming with that dreamy smile playing on his face. She collected herself and smiled back. He signalled towards the light. She blushed.
The light was switched off and she was in the bed. Now what?
" Sumo."
"Hmm."
"Turn this side, na."
She turned. What next?!
"Woh kya haina, I am used to hugging my pillow and sleeping."
(Huh?!!!)
"And this bed doesn't have space for you, me and a pillow in between."
(Really?)
"So..I hope you don't mind. I am going to hug you and sleep from now on."
He lazily pushed the pillow head side and moved closer to wrap her up in a gentle hug. He was so gentle that she couldn't help but rest herself against him too.
He planted a kiss on her cheeks and wished her good night'.
Good Night, Shravan'. Should she kiss him back???
"Sumo?"
"Hmm..."
"Tu kya expect kar rehi thi?", he asked teasingly.
"Shut Up, Shravan!"
She tried to bury herself in him, playfully hitting his arms, as his laughter filled the room.
Thus, a new bed time rule was proposed and accepted.
PS; Hope U guys like this. This is the adorable best I can write them. And the part where he signalled towards the light..after I wrote that I imagined how it would be just like the way he had signalled her up to the terrace on Preeti Bhoj! 😉😆 Cuties! ❤️
