Sigh...The most discussed phrase in EDKV, I suppose.
I remember one of my early posts had been expressing disappointment over the way Shravan had totally overlooked Suman's professional capabilities. I had even mentioned how thrilled I had been that Nirmala had acknowledged that entrepreneur in Sumo- One of the few things I deeply appreciate about the character.
Kaun hai Suman Tiwari?
This was partly answered by Suman as she stood up and explained her identity to Shravan. She wouldn't be bound to him as a slave just because she carried the sindoor in his name. It was not a sign of obedience, but of love. Mamiji had clearly explained the significance of the sindoor...she did not wear it because she didn't want her family to feel hurt...She wore it simply because a married woman not wearing it denoted something else- that her husband was no more- it was that sentiment that made her wear it, even though Shravan refused to do it for her.
I had been so looking forward to this track, not because it would make Suman out to be the wronged one...simply because I was waiting for Shravan to open that book called Suman.š³ Knowing the PCT side of her would be just the beginning...there was so much more about her past that he had to show us.
The tragedy of it all!
On Shravan's part- I loved the way he paused at the importance of PCT because her mother' s name was attached to it...but he wouldn't allow her greed to excel get in the way of his family's priorities. I was touched that he still respected that part of Suman he had always known was special to her. ā¤ļø
To all people who are still fuming at Suman for disregarding Chachi's request- fret not. By the end of the day(which would be Monday, I guess), the whole forum will be attacking Kamini for what her friends have to say at the munh dikhayi. After all, that is what she is inviting her friends over for- To point fingers at Suman's character and get her riled up even more!
I am so looking forward to this..This is going to be THE turning point in the story.
And Shravan:
Uff! Could feel him burning in indignation. Of course, no one take away from the fact that he put in the effort to reach where he was...he had an identity of his own. He was not known by his father's name in London- and he had a successful law firm there. Even here, he has just chosen to remain in his father's shadows because his father needed him right here. Breaking off and starting on his own wouldn't look right. But there was also truth in the fact that had it been not for his father's support he wouldn't be who he is today...But who says he wouldn't have been successful if he had stayed back in India and went to a Law College. But that was not Suman's point. Her argument had just been that, GIVEN HER CIRCUMSTANCES, she had done pretty well...she was going to proudly stand up and let the whole world know that not for appreciation, but to declare that she had an identity that had to be respected. The whole scene was written brilliantly.š
Of course, Shravan wouldn't attempt to put her down if she had not come out with the I am ashamed I let my name be attached to you' dialogue.
Deep down, all he needs is her love...Problem is, he started demanding it and that led to this ugly turn of events between them...The day he understands and loves the girl Suman Tiwari is, respect would come naturally...and then he would see the love flow. Because even now Suman loves him...despite everything he has said and done. She loves him enough to wear that sindoor because it signifies her husband is alive and well.
PS: Just CPing the argument on why what Suman said did not appear wrong to me.
He pushed her to a corner. He shouldn't have put her down in front of the whole family. She was not rude to chachi. She had asked her nicely. And Nanu is not Suman'S Nanu as per Shravan. Nanu is his Nanu too. So whatever he did was not to respect her family, just out of respect for the old man who meant so much to him.Kamini doesn't have that equation with Shravan or Suman.
What Suman did was different, because because if she had sat down meekly like a gopi vahu, it would have been the biggest mistake in the script.
Kisike naam ka sindoor bharne se koi kisika ghulam nahi ho jaata. She was speaking about the respect she should get for being his wife.
