Rekha,
What are the bittersweet memories?
I thought she was talking about this shut down phase.
Other than that, what bittersweet memories did we have as fans? The tracks have been pretty well written except for a bit that dragged, probably because they needed to fill in substance as the show was extended.
In what way did the tweet indicate that she was talking down to fandom?
Perceptions can't be justified on the basis of logic alone...In a way your next question proves the point. U asked who is the fandom...indeed who is the fandom. Frankly the fandom that went to the Sony office or the online audience that sent a million tweets or whatever the number was...do they count as consumers in the first place? Are we stakeholders in any way? Did any of us have a right to ask for what we did ...no frankly we didn't. Having a show on air is the Channel and/or PH prerogative...and that begs the question...why did u feel the channel let you down at some point like I do..(remember the mail i wrote on reading Dilip Jha's and Namik's Ig post) So, what kind of fan does that make u and me. An involved fan but also a fan that recognises the shortcomings in the medium. So, I was not very perturbed at not getting the story becos I know that things are not always as they seem. However, i am not blind to the point that the whole issue cannot be only only be the accountability of the channel even if u and I will agree that when shows like EDKV don't succeed, it means that there is not much manoeuvrability for the mediums to encourage such efforts beyond a point..If creativity and business cannot marry well...divorce is an option.
And who is the fandom?
There are fans who watch it just for Namik the actor..fans who watch it for Nimik chemistry, fans who watch it for the love story...and fans who watch it as an overall great package!
Which fandom felt insulted by what she said? Because the comments are not applicable to the entire fandom.
Chick, can u slot fandom...and have you messaging for types of fandom...No u can't..Let any medium come out and say...I like U as fan but I have rules for your behaviour...Believe me, i want to see that honesty. It is a self-censorship issue. Fans need to get that balance...but can a person who is at the receiving end say...I like only one type of a fan...Sorry...not possible...Even a Shah rukh Khan cannot tell his fans to get lost though him making a movie on Fan was perhaps his way of telling Jabra fans to get the point...😆
For me, it simply meant ' Time to move on, guys.'..and I deeply appreciate that because she could have used this tweet to again look like the sacrificial lamb. I find Tarunima's tweets the most mature of the lot and I am so glad Namik supports her- I respect this guy more and more with each passing day! 👏
Chick...That is what I said...but saying time to move should be our call...something the viewer has to come to terms with. Tarunima was polite so she did not deserve any nasty tweets. But Yes As a viewer not even a fan...I have the right to tell her ...not Tarunima Verma the person but Tarunima the position she represented...Hey...just step back...we know the journey for what it is. Life cycle and all..very philosophical but untimely. just my personal view. I am a stickler for accountability for actions. So, in my book, if u can't be honest about accountability, the least u can do is just stay mum.
