The Couple Dynamics - Shravan/Sumo & Ramnath/Nirmala

Hi to all the lovely people here!
For quite a while now, this question has been bothering me - is Shravan really like Ramnath?

Ramnath's entire argument to keep Shraman apart is based on the assumption that Shravan is like him and Suman is like Nirmala. So, they can never be happy together.

There have been instances in the past which could have led me to believe that this is true. However, in the last few days - though the episodes and tracks have had issues - my doubt has been laid to rest 😊

Shravan is NOT a bit like his father. Ramnath neither loved nor respected nor trusted Nirmala. She was his wife and he was an egotistical, insecure husband who could not handle his wife's independent stature despite the fact that she was doing everything for the family. Shravan on the other hand is not egotistical in even a single way 😊 He has shown temper and attitude earlier but that was just a facade. When the time comes to show his actual self - he is the most gentle, most caring and most trusting partner that any woman can have 😳 He doesn't really care about 'losing' to Suman as he has proved time and again - despite being reminded of his father's words by Sumo's attitude of late. He has returned to her repeatedly, overcome his pain and hurt at her behavior and proved that her happiness is his primary objective. He also trusts her to love him despite being a little (just a little) moved aside by Aditya. Though he is jealous and doubtful at times (which is very normal), he overcomes the negativity soon enough to regain his faith in their relationship. He is not the least insecure about her 👏 I just love this understated portrayal of Shravan 👏 He is just the kind of guy who will stand by his woman no matter what 👏
As for love, 😳 there cannot be any question of comparison between the father and the son 😆Ramnath never loved Nirmala - otherwise, he couldn't have treated her the way he did nor maligned her image in the eyes of their son knowing (subconsciously at least) that it is wrong. On the other hand, Shravan's love has stood the test of time against all odds - and it is indeed difficult to hold on to an adolescent attraction for such a long, long time especially when you do not see the other person for many long years. Shravan is not only Sumo's friend and companion - he is her true life partner in every sense of the word 😳

As for Suman, she is like Nirmala in some ways - she is independent, yet she cares for her family and supports them. However, Nirmala gave up on her son pretty easily - a mother really doesn't do that after one conversation of threat. Maybe, the makers did not want to stretch that track but it was not convincing at least to me! At any rate, Ramnath has poisoned Shravan's mind and she did not even TRY in so many years to contact her son and clear the air from her end. Anyway, Suman does not give up easily on people she loves. She has waited for Shravan knowing that he may not even forgive her ever. Her family members are also not really very 'loving' with her except for some of them - yet, she doesn't think twice before putting all her money and happiness at stake for their sake. So, she will not give up on Shravan ever. She may be hiding her feelings now, but when it comes to caring for him and standing by him - at least I believe she will do that 😳 Her chant of self-respect sometimes gets a bit too much but Shravan too knows that mostly she is right (except for that stupid American Diamond ring 😆). That is why, he doesn't hold any grudges against her and comes back 😊

To conclude, Ramnath and Nirmala were not a couple in love and they could not overcome their weaknesses and insecurities to stay together or save their relationship. Shravan and Suman are just the opposite - the are united by a deep love that can help them to override all differences and insecurities to think of each other's happiness first. That is why, they will also be able to respect each other and let the other half retain his/her self respect without compromising on the relationship. And so, they are made for each other - EK DUJE KE VAASTE!

That became a really long post - sorry about that and have a great weekend everyone!

That's right - nothing can break them. Even they themselves can't 😊

Beautiful analysis.

Shravan is not like Ramu but he is influenced by him and he has his reasons for it too.
It will break him to find out his father's selfish ways may be. Or will he forgive Ramu thinking he did it all for his son??

very well expressed. i totally agree. except for one tiny point. i think sumo was right about the american diamond ring. many people cant afford a diamond ring for their son-in-law. so what? a ring is a ring and it shouldnt matter. and in real life, it would indeed be ridiculous to take money from the other side to buy a ring for the groom. but thats just a side point. your main point is very well enunciated. kudos!

Thank you! Yes, he is bound to be influenced by him since he has been brainwashed into thinking badly about all women. Yet, Shravan retains his faith somewhere inside him. That's why he is willing to give himself a chance with Suman. He will surely forgive Ramnath cuz as I said he is not the one to hold grudges but he will be very very hurt. Ramnath has not only manipulated him about Suman but also about his mother. His whole life has been deprived because of his father's insecurities. He will understand and forgive but he may not be able to trust him again. It will be another big betrayal for him.

Thanks! What I meant about the ring is not that she take help from Shravan but that she cud have spent a few thousands more to get a good cut diamond ring. Taking an AD ring at such a high price is not v intelligent. And they had agreed for a destination wedding - so surely they had the budget. She took a 50k lehenga later !! But that's just a technicality. She shouldnt take help from Shravan but she can listen to his good counsel at timez at least before taking decisions. Whether she agrees or not is baad ki baat 😊 In that scene she appeared more stubborn to me than sensible unlike the hall episode where she explained her reasons properly 😊

yes, i agree. if she can buy a lehenga for 50000 she can certainly spend extra on the ring. i was just taking the ring case on its own. but anyway, your point is correct and well taken about neither of them being ramu or nirmala.
