Hey all
So among all the characters in EDKV, Nirmala intrigues me the most. Yeah I know she is one of the "hated" characters..Lemme clarify, I don't hate her..cuz I found reason in her actions. Two instances where I was highly miffed at her was when she didn't try to defend Sumo & when it was shown how "hyper" she could get when Adi didn't pick up her phone..Sighh...

Then, just recently I came to know of a simar case - a father .In that case, the marriage didn't fall apart cuz of anyone's chauvinism. The wife walked away with the kids one fine day cuz she was fed up of all the debts he had accumulated over the years. He wasn't one to give up so easily..& so fight he did.It was a very messy case with the custody battle going on for some years. But the kids were very young & the wife won.Its now close to 10- 12 years since the divorce and he hasn't looked back. No contact whatsoever with the kids. And no, the ex-wife isn't the problem.she hasn't put any restrictions. Now he has re married & has two kids..

In films, we have seen a fair share of characters who abandon their kids..But Nirmala & this person - they loved the kids to bits!! Unlike Nirmala, he did try...But just like her, he didn't bother to look back. Why is it so? Is it cuz they got another outlet for their parental instincts? Or is it cuz moving forward is much easier? Then what abt those who are left behind? Who will pick them up?

Do you know such cases too?

Not very similar. But I have one. My closest friend's mom commited suicide. Her father left her. Has never looked back. She was lucky enough to get wonderful parents in her mama mami though.

Nice post amy
I agree with your post,i can justify nirmala's action (except the two you mentioned) but will not..coz it takes time to write long posts and i m lazy 😆

But will say...there is a reason behind her every action..though i want some answers regarding adi's matter but i will wait till cvs reveal it

Amy, you'll be surprised to know that as per an article that I read a couple of months ago there are more than 2 million mothers who do not want the custody of their kids and approximately the same amount of single dads (but that also includes a fair share of men who are widow or single dad by choice)..Most of us, rightly or wrongly, raise an eyebrow when we hear of a dad giving up on custodial rights. But, a mom? That goes against everything we believe or choose to believe - about mothers, right? I was also reading about one such mother..I don't remember most of the details now but she mentioned about how people who had known her before understood that her kid was her life while the people whom she met later were harsh to her and considered her an awful mother..She also focused on how one decision just changed her identity and how she struggled to find answer to the question - "If I am not a mother, then who am I? How can I carry on living?" So, she became a de facto mother to her siblings and tried to move ahead on career front just to justify she took the right decision. But, emotionally she was fighting a battle within which she always tried to cover up with a sunny smile..

Hey Prits
Yikes..that many!! 2 million!! Yeah.. abandonment goes against the so called fibre of women species. So quick to judge aren't we? Women are the most scrutinized too. That's why as I mentioned I don't hate the character Nirmala. I only wonder why she didn't keep a tab on Shravan? Wasn't she curious?

I personally know of a different case wherein within a month of marriage , guy came to know the girl was blackmailed into arranged marriage .. She changed and was very difficult to live with .. She had gotten pregnant . She offered give up ur parental right on the child I'll leave u . He readily accepted and gave up . He is now remarried with a child . He didn't look back as he didn't bond with either
