My thoughts: Suman, Kamini, Shravan, Society

I've been seeing alot of posts with people getting mad at Suman for her "self respect drama"
I might be in the minority here but I understand where Suman is coming from.

The Malhotra family knows that Towari family doesn't have us much money as they do but yet Kamini is making stupid demands that are completely unreasonable. This is not chachi wanting her son to have a nice wedding this is her wanting to make the expenses so high that the the Tiwaris back out and her son doesn't have to marry preeti. She is basically reinforcing regressive rules of society where the grooms family dictates all. If Kamini wanted her son to have a wedding her way the she would picked up the cost to begin with. When she offered initially it just in attempt to remind them of their "status" again. Im sorry but I have no pity for this woman, all she sees is status not even her sons happiness.

Now coming to Suman. Imagine bein reminded constantly by your family of the 20 lakh debt she owes them, the missd plane cost and so on.. Throughout her whole life she has been reminded of being in debt to others. Then Ramnath comes and offers her money to leave his son. He knew money was the one thing Suman needed, not because she was greedy but she had debt. Suman has been shown to be an honest woman in her work anx truly wants her sister to be happy so she doesnt take thr money and agrees to stay away. Now how can one expect her to take money from Shravan? To her right now this isn't ger best friend Shravan this is a Malhotra who is Ramnath Malhotra's son. Imagine Ram kesrns she took miney from Shravan, or even Kamini would they let Preeti live peacefully? Remind her that her family couldn't afford wedding? Had ahe still acknowledged him as her bff the situation would be different and she would have taken the help with some manofying.

If Sumam was selfish, she would have picked her happiness over Preeti and her family. Then no shaadi would have happened. Kamini will never be pleased because she doesnt like the bride. People will always talk no matter how big or small the occasion is. Thats just the way people are. You break your back to make a nice party but people will always find a fault.

Once again if Kamini cared so much why didnt she offer to split cost 50/50 if she is so posh and current.

As for Shravan I feel fpr the guy and i understand his position. He's trying his best but I really wished he told Pushkar to open his damn mouth and say something to his mumma. Shravan is trying to do his best I just wish he starts to use is oxford education.

SIDE NOTE: like W*F is wrong with the Tiwari's. Suman is here doing everything and they are just lounging around enjoying. Why is she the only one working? Don't they realize they can't afford all of this?!??!?!

In all, I really hate the regressiveness this is showing. No dowry but then the ladke wale make insane demands on wedding itself. Why does are society make it seem like it is a bhoj to have daughters. We preach progressiveness but then we have stuff like this. It two to tango ao why can't both sides pitch in?

No pity for Kamini, she doesn't give a care about Shravan the one who grew uo thinking his mom left him, was ready to leave his home for her and the ine who is trying to make her high class wedding happen. So I have no pity for her. Karma's a b****

Being a silent reader in this forum, I found it hard to not reply to this post. I completely agree with what you have said. Suman, since the get go, has been shown in a frenzy trying to repay debts - so I understand where she is coming from - I just don't know whether self-respect is the exact word for it. I won't call it ego either. She is an independent woman, and I like how the show is potraying that she doesn't need to take help from anyone. It's high time we get scenes with woman being successful and independent on Indian Television..

Also, I agree about Kamini. I don't understand why she would be friends with such cheap people. All her friends care about is status. I mean..HER FRIEND LITERALLY ended their friendship based on her saree getting damaged?! What a great friendship to begin with. 🥱

Shravan, I feel bad for him. Not only does he have to deal with Suman's hostile personality but he has also been brought up to think the way Ramnath has taught him. If Ramnath had not told him that bhashan about how Nirmala and Suman are "different" from other women, then he would not have thought this way. I solely blame Ramnath's upbringing. I wish he understood though, but I understand where he is coming from.

Great post!

i feel sumo is taking on it on her ego .. she did the best with whatever she did .. but still wasnt able to satisfy everyone .. only chachi and shravan who seems to be having ton of complaints ...
i understand where she is coming from .. but she has to see shravan POV ..

i felt Sumo has taken ramanth words that she is not good enough for Shravan on her ego like kunas ( like for spite)
.. somewhere she wants to show that she can do everything and not burden anyone .. if she can do everything by putting all of her , she can show she is worthy of shravan ( i dont think i put it well ) ..

she also has to understand she cant do all by herself ..

Fantastic analysis!
After seeing a bunch of Suman bashing posts, its so nice to see one that goes deeper into why she does maintain her stance. Am not justifying her stance but I understand why she behaves the way she does.

Lovely analysis. I cannot help but wonder how can the tiwaris put so much responsibility on suman's shoulders.

Dont Maama and mani have a son in US? What happened to him?

I do feel for shravan. The guy has no clue why Suman is being distant, trying to balance everyone's happiness and does not get Suman's cooperation.

But Kamini and her her reputation. Why is it none of the Malhotra men have the spine to stand up against her .

Thank you!

Exactly! From the get go it has always been debt repayment. I don't know exactly what to call ot either.

If your friend breaks a friendshio over something that petty then that person was never yiur true friend to begin with.

Yeah heart breaks for Shravu but Im excited to see him jealous, frustrated, and hopefully a bit besharam😳

I understand them both and I hope the work it out soon!

So I agree with you 100%. Suman is doing the best she can. Frankly her arrangements looked great and up till Kamini's friend's complaint Kamini didn't have any issues and neither did anyone else. I think it would've been nice for Shravan to appreciate how great of a job she did. I also don't know why he just didn't tell her the issues with the mud puddles outside. I can't believe it was something that couldn't have been taken care of. Even valet parking would've taken care of that.

I felt bad for Kamini because I can understand how being nouveau rich in the kind of society they live in is tough. But like most of you are saying the woman was likely no friend at all. I loved Sumo's retort that she was likely the kind of person that would've complained about something at a hotel too.Kamini needs to get over the idea of proving herself because she is in a good position. I think you are right that if she really cared she wouldn't have played a game over the expenses. She would've forced Ramnath to take it on his shoulders.

I find the whole idea that the girls side paying for the wedding in this circumstance really frustrating. Personally, I think the far more self respecting thing to do would've been to discuss splitting the costs in the first place when the boys side has all these requirements. But I don't blame Sumo for that because Ramnath really put her in a tough position by giving her a cheque to begin with. In essence he was trying to buy Shravan off of Suman so for her to ask to split the costs after returning the cheque would've gone against the meaning of returning the cheque. Accepting any kind of monetary help from Shravan also goes against that too. So she really is in a tough position.

I am silent reader on this forum but after reading your post, I had to comment. I don't think Suman is doing anything wrong. Perhaps the word "self-respect" is being emphasized a bit too much but I don't think she is in the wrong. Shravan going behind her back and booking the hall was the exact same thing he did when he decided to pay Khosla off - it was wrong back then and I think it's wrong now too.
Suman is just a girl who is trying her best to organize a wedding with the funds she has. The Malhotra's know that the Tiwari's cannot afford the kind of wedding they want, so why go ahead with it? If Pushkar loves Preeti, he should have sat down with his mom and explained that it isn't possible and straightened it out. I think the fault more lies in the family members than Suman and Shravan who are getting pissed in this whole thing.
