Brilliant post👏
Saved me from writing my bit. I have no problems with Shravan going on with his friendship thing... Its much needed at least from Shravan's angle. But, I have two misgivings...One, they should not let the daal itself become the main text, which unfortunately it is turning out to be. Daal is a memory, it brings up images of shared good times. I think so it has already been portrayed in this week ever too often that this daal- a quotidian feature of every common Indian household stands for Shravan's deep attachment towards his mother. He finds her presence even in the most trivial items of our lives. Daal is an unconditional love of the mother for her son which in turn reflects, the relationship of Sumo and Shravan. However, to continue to evoke these memories in the minds of the viewers is killing off its effectiveness. It is making not only the daal look redundant but the memory which it is trying to evoke. The friendship of Shravan is brilliantly shown... I love it. The way he finds excuses to meet her, see her smiling, find grooms for her .. is adorable. He is in a happy space.. because Sumo and him are together. He has not managed to see through its implications because the bubble of this friendship is yet to be burst. And I don't require any monologues from his side to show he is in love with Sumo. You can feel it, see the way at times he teases her, also when he is angry with her and the way he apologizes to her. Shravan or Namik is doing well for me to explain his side of the story. 👏But, Sumo's side is at presently been decoded as more than friendship to us viewers (not to Shravan).. so her emotions for me, at least is not properly executed. At times, I do feel she is just a friend, unlike what i do feel about Shravan. If she often goes to great lengths to prove her love (or rather, the fact he is in love with her.. these are cute scenes, btw😳), I would prefer Sumo to feel something different when she is in his presence. Not like having a vacant expression or going moony-eyed, its just smiling, at times dreaming about him. She is more like a friend in the sense she wants to correct his blinkered vision about women. Wants him to have a proper dialogue with his mother. This is more the job of a friend, albeit a true friend. But, we as viewers are already aware that she is in love with Shravan... so her feelings seem too dull for my liking. At times she is going over the top and at times she is falling flat. Her monologues can be shown to us and dreams too with Shravan (Sumo-style btw, to us viewers.. will keep majority of the viewers happy as well😉).. but, the way she tries to solve each and every problem of Shravan is more like the actions of a friend than that of a lover...And makes her seem no different than other mahaan heroines of other shows.Sorry for my ranting.. but, I loved the daal metaphor and both Sumo's delineation of the first flush of love when it originally started. Now if one of them seems to have overspilled its content, the other seems to be playing hide and seek😆Wish they would address this issue soonAnyways.. a great post👏
