I might be in minority here but I feel this was much needed track.
Sumo and Shravan had to start their journey again from where they left.. They so badly needed to have this talk and restore their friendship back before they move to next phase of their relationship.. they needed to give proper closure to their resentments or complaints against each other and start a new journey..especially Sharvan! They didn't have proper talk about their friendship after sharvan came back, to be precise since 11 years..and today they finally spoke their hearts out. Now, we know they do feel more then friendship for each other and somewhere both are aware of it too, but they had to take this first step towards it.. without this talk if they started off they love relationship it would have been very unrealistic. I'm just so glad that the writers are taking everything into consideration rather than just jumping into romance.
All thanks to the "case" that they finally reached a point where they are talking rather than sulking at each other!
On the whole Suman is going through exactly what Shravan went through in his teenage.. lovestruck but not sure yet or cannot express yet. It will be fun to see her in this phase..:) For me what Shravan did looks like he wanted to make sure he will not lose her again.. its ok if she doesnt love him but he cannot lose her friendship kinda of a deal, whatever he said and done just tells that to me.
Over all am happy with the way they are handling the progress in this relationship.. It would have been really unjustified if they just confessed their love..without burying the skeletons!
