Hey all,
I have been following this serial and the forum and I know that I am not alone who is awestruck by the sheer brilliance of this drama EDKV. Posted this in reply to another thread also.

Shravan's character has been sketched so well and then to top it, Namik has breathed life into the character. It is hard to believe that he is a debutant, such nuanced performance. Though I liked the angry young man mode of Shravan today as well as yesterday, I am not a fan of aggression and more than that I feel that it is easy to portray an aggressive character. See most of Indian TV male leads are shown that way but whenever they are supposed to portray other emotions they fail to express. Moreover the aggression is towards the female lead and majority of the times illogical. EDKV stands tall in that aspect. Here, Shravan did show the angry young man mode to the T, all fangirls going gaga over it, moi too. But for me Shravan is more than that, his love, his angst, his pain, his hurt, the astute lawyer that he is, his sarcasm, his friendship, his loyalty is what makes him stand apart from the crowd. All that Shravan is has come across as so real because Namik as an actor has not been acting as Shravan, he is living Shravan. For me, the holi episode was most beautifulI, I have felt hurt with him, cried with him and today hooted for him. Shravan Malhotra is a history in making and Namik is a star in making. Hope he gets all success.

cheers

PS: I so want to write about Suman/Nikita but some other time.
PPS: I reckon Suman is also in love with Shravan, may be not as much as he has been.

And regardings suman's feelings i know she suppresses her feelings but its all now in first stage but now she ll start falling for him hard as shravan's love for her is so beautiful to watch that i cannot express in words about his love

WORD.
Like Shravan is NOT an easy character to get right, one false note and the balance & naunce with which he's written will tilt completely over to a single side. To get a character like Shravan right, you need to be a seasoned actor who understands that even a millisecond of an expression can convey so much, and uses every second he's on screen to act his heart out, act every single aspect of Shravan he can within a certain scene, to make sure all his sides are periodically visible, and to capture his essense in scenes where there are no dialogues (which Namik has had quite a few of).

There it's all up to the actor, and how well an actor carries the character without any dialogue is what separates memorable performances from the rest.

Namik really has stunned me, he's given me every reason to be his fan. He alongside the powerhouse performer that Nikita are the best ShraMan I could've asked for.

Edit:

Additionally, I cannot compare Shravan to any other male lead on Indian TV that I've ever seen. Because there is no comparison.

Yes I'll say it, most of the male leads that I've liked, now in retrospect were rather abusive, dehumanizing, and condescending. I love that despite Shravan being an Oxford grad lawyer, he doesn't see himself as above anyone, especially Suman. He gives her the same respect he would give himself. Which I LOVE. Yes he'll laugh or smirk at her antics, but out of endearment, never embarrassment and he never has any haughty *I'm Shravan Freakin Malhotra the Mothaeffin BOSS* airs about him, and nor will he put that aspect of him on display unless he needs to (to defend his own, like he did with Verma).

The other major thing is that in the name of "tortured," "tragic past," and "angry young man" Shravan is not an inconsiderate, abusive, asshole. Shravan fits ALL three of those tags that as you said, make women swoon, but yet he (and the writers) know that not only is it flat-out wrong, but inconsistent to show a character who knows such pain to inflict that on others and use his "mom running away" and his heartbreak & humiliation as a reason to constantly dehumanize people whenever he wanted. ANGRY YOUNG MAN DOES NOT EQUAL ABUSIVE ASSHOLE and I LOVE that Shravan is the only male lead I've seen who embodies that.

His smoulders, his ghussa, his protective rage, they all make us swoon like other male leads, but the fact that there's more to him, that is so endearing, realistic, and above all RESPECTFUL, is what separates him from others, making a comparison with them just an insult to the amazingly etched character that Shravan is.

YES. YES. AND YES.
Thank you for this very much needed and appreciated post. Teh dil se.😆 🤗

Shravan as a character has been developed so beautifully in the context of the show, but that could not have been done without Namik's attention to the small intricacies of his character. This wasn't just another typical angry young man, tortured male lead who used his past as a free pass to justify his actions.

His past yes does very much have an impact on him today. But he doesn't justify and use his past as a way to do whatever he wants as many other leads have.

Honestly, I just can't compare him to any other lead because he has shown and proven to us that HE is so much more than that.

We don't see those cliches.
We just see Shravan.
A man who will put his family first and knows at what cost.
He knows and can understand the people he is surrounded by.
Yes, he allows his family to take advantage of him, but he knows what their true intentions are. He knows who to trust and who not to

And Namik Paul. That man is just absolutely genius. Truly, as you said he breathes life into Shravan--the realism he brings out. He's not simply depicting another character. When Namik is on-screen we ONLY see Shravan. He does not just act through expressions, it's through his body language as well, which I feel is crucial in execution.

I really feel like he took the time out to truly study and understand the past Shravan because if you ever realize whenever Shravan comes before Suman, there is quite a distinct change in body language. It's as if the old Shravan is there again. The way he looks at her. The way there's an extreme subtle shake of his head. It's such subtle movements that he does which I feel just really push his performance out there.

This man is no debutante. He can give anyone a run for their money. And I hope he gets the recognition he deserves because he truly is an extremely talented actor. ❤️

Indeed. Shravan is a really well-written character and Namik gave life to Shravan magnificently. No one could have portrayed Shravan as perfectly as Namik has. Shravan is probably my most favorite male lead of all time. He has attitude and issues but he never goes overboard with it. I really love him.

Yes, I when she learned about Shravan's comeback, she was so blushing! And while getting dressed to go see him at the birthday bash, she looked at the screen with Shravan's picture and said, "tum aise ghoorkar mujhe conscious kyu kar rahe ho?"
After reaching the venue, giving a pep talk to herself, she said, " Control Sumo, tere paet mein itne butterflies hai toh kya hua? Use thodi pata hai ki tu uske baare mein kya sochti hai? "

Exactly, that was in episode 3 and then again with that box containing their photographs and childhood memoirs, she mused twice that he does not know what she thinks about him and then she would never let him know what she feels/thinks about him. No doubt about the blush when he told her that he does not have a girlfriend.
