The conjurer
will conjure a string of fairy lights
that will sparkle like the stars
and bring light to your life.
he will compose a string of lilting melodies
that will calm and sooth
bringing sweet harmony.
He will conjure a garland of sweet scented flowers,
bright in their colours and intense in their scent-
filling your world with their fragrance.
But at dawn, under the cloak of darkness,
He will bring with him the fragments of his wounded heart,
-the broken strings of fairy lights, the scent of wilting flowers and the broken chords of his music of love,
At your doorstep he will stand with his wry smile of irony
and conjure up a whole new life.
