Chapter - 11

The Red Scarf

When Tara reached home, it was still raining outside. After Seher left for her home, Tara entered her house. She possessed a certain fear that Govind might be angry on seeing her drenched like this, and her thoughts were proven right. She entered into her room and saw Govind there. He faced her for a few seconds and then asked in a calm voice.

"Yeh kya Tara? Tum bheeg kaise gayi?"

"Woh Seher ke saath dargah gayi thi toh..."

She replied while entering into her own room.

From her own room, she heard that Govind was still grouching.

"Dad thoda sa hi toh bheeg gayi hoon, abhi change kar lungi..."She exclaimed from her room.

"Tara tujhe pata hai na barish mein bheegne se tujhe bukhar hota hai...phir bhi tu aisa karti hai...jo cheez main mana karta hoon wohi tujhe karna hota hai...!!"

His angry voice shouted back.

Tara put the bag on the table and inserted her hand into the bag in order to take out the fardel, but her hands didn't find that. She opened another zipper, but didn't detect that there as well. Thwarted, she turned the bag upside down. All her things scattered on the table, but there was not a single sign of that fardel. She sat on the chair in-front of the table.

"Kahan rakh diya maine...?"She said in a thoughtful tone in her mind.

At The Shekhawat Mansion

The drawing room was entirely silent, nana and nani were sitting on the couch, and Jairaj was strolling anxiously. The roads had been choked up now due to rain. The situation was becoming worse with each and every passing moment, and Mrityunjay still had not reached home. Everyone was tensed for him, when a car came and halted at the porch and Jairaj came towards the main door, where he saw Mrityunjay entering. Witnessing everybody's sullen face Mrityunjay frowned.

"Kya hua? Aap sab aise muh latka ke kyun baithe hai?"

Nani got up from her place and came towards him.

"Teri wajah se!! Pata hai sab kitna pareshaan ho gaye the. Jaldi meeting khatam ho jayega bolke gaya phir..."but Jairaj cut her off.

"Haan beta aapne itna waqt laga diya, upar se car bhi kharab ho gayi thi...news mein itna sab kuch dikha rahe the..."

"Jairaj uski car kharab ho gayi thi tumne bataya bhi nahi."Nani turned on Mrityunjay.

"Teri car kharab ho gayi thi?"

"Arre nahi zyada kuch nahi hua tha bas pani ke wajah se engine jam ho gaya tha..."

He explained the situation to Maya when Nana's voice came from the back.

"Maya use change kar lene do pehle..."

"Haan tu ja, change karke aa."

He nodded and departed for his room.

In Mrityunjay's room

Mrityunjay entered into his room and shut the door. He took off his half wet blazer and inserted his hand to his pant's pocket and in an instant his hand touched the soft scarf there. He brought out the fardel gently and at the next moment a glimpse of that unknown girl became visible in front of his eyes. He opened it and the soft petals oozed out from there. The petals were still fresh and a little wet as if the girl and her happiness was still lingering on it. An unmindful smile played on his lips, but he restrained himself at once and knotted the fardel again. He put it in the drawer and moved to the washroom.

Next Morning

At Tara's home

Today Tara had been fussy since the morning. She and Seher was going to meet Rashi. Rashi was going to Australia as her parents were shifting there. As she was pregnant so her parents wanted her to have the best doctor and the best treatment and so were taking her with them. And as both Gauri and Sameer were engaged with their work here so it would be tough for them to cope up with her upcoming pregnancy tantrums. Govind was as usual going to the office. Tara was wearing her regular jeans, and with that she chose a black top to wear. After completing all household chores, she locked the gate and went to her and Seher's meeting spot. Seeing Tara, Seher waved her hand.

"Itni late kar di tune. Main kab se khadi hoon."Seher said while walking beside her. She noticed Tara was a little bit sad and restless.

"Waise Tara woh kal jo tabarruf liya tha na tune, woh aaj Rashi Di ko de dena...unke aur..."

"Woh nahi hai mere pass."Tara's voice made her stop.

"Tu ghar pe bhool aayi? Tara tu aisi kaise ban gayi?" Seher asked with a glum face.

"Ghar pe nahi hai..."

"Toh?"

"I lost it."She answered staring at Seher's goggling eyes.

"What do you mean by lost it? Aise kaise lost hota hai?"She asked in a surprised tone.

"Agar pata hota toh aise sada hua chehra leke ghoomti main? Woh bhi gaya aur saath mein mera scarf bhi..."Tara replied in a sadder tone.

"Oh my God!!Tera woh red scarf."Seher exclaimed.

"Haan pata nahi kaha guma diya..." Tara answered.

Meanwhile, they reached Rashi's maternal house. From the outside, they saw luggages and their car.

"Rashi Di shayad abhi niklegi, chal."

They came in and saw Rashi, her parents and Sameer there. All were busy with the last minute arrangements. Rashi was sitting there on the couch. Her eyes stuck with them and she shouted.

"Tara...Seher"She got up from the sofa and they both came towards her.

"Di aap aaj ja rahi hai toh socha mil loon ek baar..."Seher said.

"Accha kiya...main toh soch rahi thi ki tum dono se mil payungi ya nahi..."Rashi replied looking at Tara.

"Rashi chalo..."They all turned back and witnessed Sameer there; he was holding a large bag.

"Waah! Pati ho toh aisa."Tara said mockingly looking at Sameer. He put the bag there.

"Haan haan aur kya!! Waise bhi karne ka mauka toh milta nahi tha aur jab mauka mila toh madam khud mauka chin rahi hai..."He looked at Rashi, she smiled and came towards him and stood beside him.

"Jab pati patni ke liye kuch karta hai na tab bahot accha lagta hai." Rashi said looking at Sameer. Sameer smiled gently and gave her a side hug.

"Jab tumhari shaadi hogi na tab tumhe bhi pata chalega..."

"Kuch bhi Di..."Tara smiled.

"Accha Rashi ab hume nikalna chahiye nahi toh flight miss ho jayegi..." Sameer said.

"Haan Di...aap logon ko nikalna chahiye...aapko bahot miss karungi..."

"Main bhi yaar bahot miss karnewali hoon..."

They shared a hug. Tara and Seher left their house with a sad heart.
