Haha maybe it has happened in the past 5 years but he's brushed it off but this sudden appearance of Tara has triggered something in him. Idk I guess the human mind is complicated and also we're seeing them 5 years later so who knows maybe he did get flashbacks but Laado obviously dimished them with ease.
Actually him regaining some of his memory or realising his hidden talents isn't as bad as we think it is. This will give Balli the autonomy he was lacking for the past 5 years. Finally he has started to think on his own and questioning whether he is who everyone thinks he is. While it may force Laado to try and subdue it, at least now Balli will know that there's something Laado is trying to hide and that there's more to the story that he has no clue about.
The only point it can potentially become dangerous is if Laado finds out Sia is Tara because then he'll know why Balli is suddenly reverting back to MJ.
