Hello lovely people!
I'm completely free from exams now and I'll able to make more posts :) Sorry for not doing writing anything yesterday but I was really drained from my last two exams. Anyways I'm back with my take on last two episodes!
1. What defines a mother?
These past two episodes we've seen a whole new side to Nirmala who we thought wasn't even capable of loving the people in her life. She has always been portrayed as being cold and unaccepting of anything she considered "inferior". However, recently we realised that she is also a mother who loves her children a lot and would go to despicable lengths to ensure their safety and well-being (so despicable that she asked her foster son to take the blame for a crime he didn't commit). Thus, a valid question arises from all of this...had Nirmala not found out that MJ is her own son then would she have given him the love and respect he deserves? Would she have allowed him to get hanged for Adi's sake?
This is of course very hard to answer because they're all a series of what ifs but I think that maybe she wouldn't have felt as terrible as she does right now. She would probably have let MJ get hanged because he was "inferior blood" to her who only brought more pain and suffering onto the family. Her younger son took precedence over the older foster boy who isn't fit to be loved by Nirmala. In saying that though, Nirmala would be forever haunted by the fact that she let an innocent man die. She has become the modern day Indian Lady Macbeth as she sees the blood of her son on her hands.
The other question that arises is that are her actions justified by the fact that she was doing it to protect her son? Can Nirmala be defined as a mother?
From my perspective, parents aren't just people who bring you into this world but they are also the people who take responsibility, nurture and instill all the righteous and good qualities in you. Yes Nirmala has so far, in my opinion, been a mother by name but she is still yet to become a mother. Saving MJ and Adi is her chance to become a mother in her own right because only then will she have fulfilled the responsibilities and the nurturing that a mother has to fulfill.
2. Circle of life.
There's a saying that goes "what goes around comes around" and it's also a famous Justin Timberlake song! No matter how hard we try to keep our past buried, it eventually ends up resurfacing at some point in our lives. Nirmala and Guruji never expected that the little boy that they both thought had disappeared would come back to them in such a way. Ironic wasn't it that the boy who he tried to kill ended up being the grown man who saved him from death? Or the boy who she said was bad blood ended up being of her own blood? The ramifications of our actions may not necessarily hit us straight away but somewhere down the line the Universe makes us realize our mistakes. What was lovely to watch was how Nirmala and Guruji both wanted to genuinely repent for their sins and save MJ's life. I don't agree with people who are saying that MJ shouldn't forgive Nirmala easily because I feel that those who repent from the heart deserve a chance to be forgiven.
3. With the fire as a witness, I will burn away the fear and helplessness in my heart.
This scene lasted for like a couple of seconds but I really thought that it was a beautiful scene. I'm not sure what Holi represents for the Hindus but from what RP said, it seems like it's a day where people try to get rid of all the impurities in their hearts to start afresh. I loved that Tara took the fire as a witness and said that she would get rid of all her fears so that she can fight for MJ without becoming weak. Similarly, MJ wanted to get rid of his helplessness and vowed to live for Tara as a free man. On a tangent, there are plants in Australia which need to be burned once in while in order to regenerate and bloom again and this is why I thought that scene was so significant. Holi will mark a new beginning for these two as they have vowed to clean the slate and the fire will allow for them to regenerate and rise from the ashes.
4. Precap.
After last night's episode I'm convinced that the precap is Tara's dream. She made a vow that she would get rid of all her fears but the one fear that she has in her heart right now is seeing MJ being hanged. I don't know if you guys remember but a while back MJ saw a nightmare of Tara being strangled and at that point Tara told him that nightmares are a reflection of the hidden fears in our subconscious - Tara fears MJ being hanged therefore she is dreaming that she is seeing him die.
p.s MJ is out of jail! Although he has been hit on the head (poor guy is losing so many brain cells) and kidnapped, at least he is not in jail anymore. I'm anxious to see what happens on Holi and who plays with whose blood. Have a nice weekend my lovelies!
