To all my fellow Ebians Once Again a Happy Diwali...I haven't been able to come out of it...and I am short of words to describe last night's out of this world episode!
The Shekhawat Mansion is gearing up for Diwali. Hustle and bustle with an air of festivity all around.
Tara is busy applying henna on Meethi's hands and we get to hear her famous Life's lessons on applying mehendi for her sister-in-law . I have been missing them dearly.
She misses the presence of Baba on her first Diwali occasion at her sasural. Faheem busy with the preparations, notice the women of the house. Places his hand lovingly on Tara's head...he treats her like a child...but just then Nirmala chides him to finish up well on time and he responds Tara estyle! Yeah Nimmo darling everyone has caught the Tara bug!
Tara then decides with her Diwali cheer to take the blessings of her Mother-in-law. Of course Nimmo responds in a lukewarm fashion and walks away. Tara goes back to applying mehendi , when Mrityunjay comes. Recollecting those moments he decides he would take a look, "today I will see her face and clear this dilemma once and for all."
Meethi sees him standing behind them, she invites him to come forward only to be stopped by a decorator. Tara frowns..now what does he want? He retrieves his steps and goes away. She grumbles to herself, "the savage will only see my face after my death."
Chipku has become Ghar Jamai even before marriage. Yaar he lives, breathes , does rangoli everything before in Nandini's home. Kya chakkar hai pata nahi. When Aradhna asks about his parents he avoids the question, and diverts it to Nandu. At the end of the pooja , Nandu asks her mother for a special blessing like wishing for a rich husband for her. Even richer than Tara's whilst Yug looks on.
It's Diwali a stunningly beautiful and exquisite looking Tara, comes forward with a diya thaal alongwith Meethi looking lovelier as ever too.
Faheem sees the beautiful women of the house and again blesses them and their husbands too.
The courtyard is beautifully decorated with hundreds of diyas and rangoli. Streams of flowers...and lights...The house has such a wonderful festive look.
A very pretty Vasu wearing a traditional suit is all excited about lighting crackers. Tara tells her after the pooja," Now be content with the sound from others crackers, go on and light the lamps here.".
So all the three women minus Nimmo ofcourse, busy get down on their knees to light the diyas in the courtyard. Mrityunjay enters wearing his wedding sherwani...looking handsome as ever...at once his eyes search for her...he sees her back...the veil covering her head, the flowers adorning her hair...he is unable to take his eyes off her, for fear that she might just disappear. ...to his luck his little sister calls for him to come forward...he enters into the courtyard where the women are kneeling on the floor.
Ahhh Haah...he realizes something, a reflection of his sister's face in the bowl, so remarks, "Fatso you look beautiful in this reflection." So suggests, "Hey Fatso... don't you think one should be placed there?" where of course Tara is seated. Reflection in a bowl of water...yup...smarty pants thinks best way to check her out. He looked so very anxious, never mind if he was giving away of himself to Tara and his sister. Tara frowns... what game is he playing?
Vasu thinks what happen to my bro?, "Bhai, since when you have started taking interest in all these things?" He is a bit shy, how could he possibly explain his dilemma. "By the way you are absolutely right." Vasu does not mind playing cupid for him.
Tara wonders what is happening? She has her doubts! All kinds of thoughts playing in her head. Cautious and wary of his moves.
Vasu takes the bowl to Tara's side. Mrityunjay does some shaan patti now...slowly walks towards her end and peeps into the bowl to see part of her reflection. She finds that weird. What is this man upto now? Now this is a very strange kind of abuse.? Look at her face...she is totally confused... then she realizes his intention probably, so plays mean...by creating ripples in the water with her right hand...which breaks her reflection. He realizes she did it on purpose and he is offended. But this is Mrityunjay...he ain't giving up so easily on you Tara...so goes to Meethi and tries another stunt. "Are Meethi these diyas are looking very nice here. Why don't you place some there. Don't you think some will look good there too?" Meethi replies, "But I don't any left in my plate." Hahahaha...the guy is desperate now so even suggests taking some from Tara's side...
So Meethi does the asking and tells Tara to place some diyas at the center point. Tara understands that now she would have to come forward with the diya plate! She frowns in confusion and frustration because she is clueless as to what he is upto. What is this bajjar battu upto now? What kind of trouble is this? Is this Diwali special a what?
He is adamant on seeing her face anyhow. He walks off to the spot where Tara is asked to place the diyas. Tara does not get up first then Meethi again chides her, please go and place some. She has no choice, still frowning...and irritated she gets up... Her face glows from the diya roshni but her eyes hold a kind of alarm...whilst Mrityunjay is all excited...phew...he heaves!...at last he would get to know. Boom!...darkness! The lights go off. Faheem Chacha announces that the fuse has gone off he was checking it out. In the darkness she walks towards him...Mrityunjay anxiously waiting for the lights to come...only for her to go past him when the lights come on again. He is so disappointed and frustrated. Tries to get Meethi's attention that she was walking away. Is helpless and even unsure of how to openly say so. Frowns in worry...thinking now how am I supposed to find out?
What a joy it was to see him like a lovelorn boy wanting to see her face, but couldn't manage to do so.
Preparations are on for the pooja. Idea Number Three in action. Mrityunjay walks with the photograph of the old man and places it at the Pooja altar. He then goes and leans against the wall anxiously waiting. Meethi comes, walks past him. He waits with bated breath...looks at his watch. Where is she? She should be here by now! LOL...this guy...too impatient...such a darling...can't wait...Tara walks in notices him standing, steps back but then walks past him with her payals going chan chan chan that told him of her presence.
He sees her head adorned with flowers. His eyes soften with relief, at last he would get to see her tonight...nervous now he waits for her to go close to the picture so that he can catch a reflection of her in it.
She walks close, he sighs with relief...he can see her waistline...at last...it's going to happen...his heart beats must be racing at an F1 speed for sure... Just when Tara is about to sit Nimmo comes and picks up the photo frame. She scolds them as to who had kept the picture there. Madhav is asked to take it away...Mrityunjay shuts his eyes in frustration and regret...shakes his head ...no it can't be happening... Mrityunjay stares at his mother's back filled with anger...why did she have to do this...why did she ruin this for me? all my chances of seeing her are thwarted now. But still waits hoping against hope...she would turn surely. Just then Rudra comes and sees him standing there. Turns to him and sharply remarks, "Only members of the Shekhawat family can participate in this veneration. Do you understand the meaning of only Shekhawat family? Jairaj may consider you as a Shekhawat, but I don't."
Damn you Rudra this is your son! You are going to shed tears of blood one day for all the pain you cause him. Faheem rushes to MJ and pleads, "Master today is Diwali, at least not today?"
Mrityunjay terribly hurt stops Faheem Chacha from pleading further, "No Faheem Chacha, let it be." and simply walks away.
Vasu meets him on his way out, she asks him,"Bhai where are you going? You know after the pooja we have to light crackers?
He says, "Fatso you know I don't celebrate Diwali?" Why Bhai? "Oh you ask too many questions." and then leaves her wondering whilst he leaves the house.
All are gathered around when Tara sneaks from right under their high-perched up noses...and goes into her room. She was adorable here...
Her thoughts are with him even during this special occasion...his soul cries out to her...she senses his despair...
"The city is bursting with lights in the sky. World is celebrating whilst the poor soul is drowned in darkness. Diwali is truly celebrated only when you bring light into dark surroundings. Teen baar mere dhadkan ko rokne se bachaya. In life I f I haven't managed to bring light into a dull heart then I haven't done anything worthy enough." Yes Tara your heart beats because of him...
Here Mrityunjay is shroud in darkness in his stable, so lights up the lantern, "Maria this might be the night of lights. But we are better off in the dark."
Tayaji is right Maria, no one needs me in that house...i bear no significance without my father. The mare grunts...I am there for you...his heart cries...he is hurting deeply...a lonely soul...He turns stumbles and falls flat on the ground. Gets up to see his festive garment stained.
Superb significance. He is clean from the inside...its only the outer garment that is temporary stained...
Tara here prepares a pooja thaal, places the idol of Goddess Laxmi, some flowers, diyas, fruits and says, " I will not only brighten that dull home, but also perform pooja there, and every other related ritual. And Goddess Laxmi willl surely shower her blessings on his home." Her face is alllit up and she is all set to leave...
Mrityunjay sheds tears over his fate...the darkness in his life...tormented...feeling unloved and unwanted...an orphan once again that night...
What a heart wrenching scene it was.
And there comes Tara comes walking holding the diyas in her plate, "God why are you testing me? I have to finish this and reach the mansion quickly.If anyone finds out about this scam, there will be trouble." She knew she was breaking rules, but it was a calling from deep within her...
Wiping away his tears... and eyes glistened with tears see a strange shadow of a woman...holding a tray of lights...Laxmi Goddess in all her majesty and brilliance entering his abode....the sounds of celebration reverberating around...her face still shroud in darkness he is unable to see clearly who it is...in reality her radiance blinds him...and then suddenly when she places the diyas on every fence joint... he realizes it's HER...the woman he has been longing to get a glimpse of...the girl his eyes ached to see...in the midst of this darkness she came a vision of light...he steals glances of her moving around, lighting up his world slowly... she turns her face through that ghunghat, his first glimpse is of her is the tiny bit of her nose and the hand that created ripples a few moments earlier was now creating ripples in his heart and illuminating his world...his eyes follow every move of hers...he is astound, his unstoppable heart can't believe it...he sees her eyes through a gap between the bricks...then he sees those smiling lips...then her eyes, her bindi and the maang ka tikka...he looks into those big brown eyes...Mrityunjay fell in love at that very moment with those smiling eyes full of life, those little glimpses shroud in mystery still...'But every light of heaven is in my darling's face"... ...she moves away...continuing to spread light around...Then says aloud, "Now it looks like the dull garden is celebrating Diwali"
And then she turns right at the spot where he had stumbled and fallen...
His Goddess, His Woman, His Girl, His Dost, His Bride, His Wife stands there right in front of him...in all her splendor, glory and beauty was a radiating TARA HIS STAR.... choking with emotions, he is stunned, shocked tries to catch his breath, gasps for air.
Ek Boond Ishaq pe mein hun zinda! I have come alive...I was dead all along...

What a beautiful aesthetically shot Diwali scene! 👏No fancy set ups, no artificial decor, just the darkness of the night, a sparkling sky, the mare, the soil of the earth, the presence of God and just Two Chosen Souls engulfed in a Wondrous Glow of Light...👏👏👏

It was pure magic... filled me with tears of joy, truly touching, amazing, fantabulous and so damn breathtakingly beautifully. I was left speechless, at a loss for words...
Precap: Tara says to him, I have taken away the darkness from your home. Every year do brighten up this place! And never allow darkness to follow. Then takes his hands and joins them in prayer, Goddess Lakshmi, bless my friend with all the happiness, that he hasn't got till today, may he live for hundred more years." He is left speechless.
And so are we all! 👏👏
P.S. Don't know if any of you realized Viraf did give a clue as to what was to come this Diwali through his Diwali message : Go ahead light up that lamp or even better light up a life. and I remember Chhavi words in an SBS segment where she told Viraf who will not see me like this but in full form of Tara!
