The story is central to three key characters called Mrityunjay (ML), Tara (FL) and Tauji who is is Mj's father's brother,

Whilst MJ was in prison his father tried to get him out on bail but did not succeed. The then look for a bride from the lower strata of society through their common pandit.

Panditji recommends Tara's older sister Nandini but mother refuses since she feels why would someone so rich want to marry someone from their society. Tara is running the household and loses her shop to the authorities. they have no father. Their house is at the brink of being taken over by the bank, that Tara hears of this proposal and goes back to the car and accepts it without asking any questions. So in exchange for financial security for her family she agrees to marry Mrityunjay.

On the wedding day, Thakurji plans it in such a way that no one attends the marriage and takes the bride with him. He is shown to be very loving and caring towards Tara. She trusts him.

On her wedding day they ladn up at the jail, but still she thinks that his son is a cop or something. When she enters...she realizes that she is being married off to a prisoner. She says no to the marriage. Thakurji tells her if she walks out of her she loses on everything her family wished for in life. He promises to do everything for her family.

She retrieves her steps and comes back and marries the prisoner. She thinks he might have stolen and is a thief.

Tara also happened to come in the midst of all the eunuchs chanting and meditating of which Kalavati (tauji) is the leader of this group.

This angers her/him and he is hell bent on getting rid of her as now she is aware of his identity though not fully.

So now neither is Tauji aware that Tar amarried into his own family and nor is Tara aware that her husband's uncle is a eunuch.
